allston, ma is the rippenest town. 12/26/2002

The Model Cafe. This place is proof that Allston Rock City isnt dead, just drunk and taking refuge from BU kids. From the colorful doorman Jamie, to the well stocked jukebox, this place rocks. Theres enough cheap beer, strong mixed drinks, and bales of second hand cigarette smoke to make the Marlboro Man wish his iron lung could fit through the door. Pros: price, people, amazing jukebox Cons: smoky, bad ventilation, smelly bathrooms more

PUNK ROCK JUKEBOX 6/21/2002

the model freakin' rules....best bar in allston by far....come here if you hate the Kells crowd and you won't be sorry..one of the best dive bars in the whole city, service is no frills...and who cares about the pool table....I saw a friend of mine run that table from the break one night....People get REAL DRUNK in here so if you can't take a little local color then stay at the Kells and get lucky.... more

Editorial
  • In Short
Local artists' works cover the walls while fun knick-knacks pose above the bar, giving the place a little kick. Gulp a beer, munch on finger-food and shoot a game of stick all in a cool local dump: If you can forgo actual models in exchange for cigarette-smoke stained ceilings and patrons in cowboy boots, this is your bar. The Café's infamous in the local rock scene--J. Geils once kept rehearsal space below this joint.
