Had my hair cut by Alisha (Level 2) at the Crabtree Mall Mitchell's recently. She had a scowl on her face the entire time, and hardly said two words to me. Meanwhile the stylists ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/5/2013

I saw a stylist for this morning for a single process color. I was told by the girl booking the appointment that the price was $60 after setting me up with a specific stylist. The stylist was a young lady from Morrocco, although I do not know her name. We talked and during the conversation I mentioned something about a dog being abused and she said ""yea, well it's just a dog"". I pretty much stopped talking at that point, because as a dog lover I was offended to be honest. I realize in Morrocco they generally do not like dogs but this is the USA where we generally do and she would do well to keep that in mind. \r \r After the color she asked if I wanted a haircut and I told her no. She then handed me an ipad and asked for my credit card. I gave her my AMEX and she told me to sign my name on the ipad. I assumed this was just saying I had had the service and that I would pay upfront. I saw nothing indicating a total dollar amount at any time. I assumed she was going to take my card up to the front but she never did, she handed it back to me and thanked me. I had no intention of leaving her a tip and did not offer or agree to one at any time. I asked her where do I pay and she said I just did although I was given no receipt of any kind or any indication of how much I had paid and I assumed that she knew I was not happy and that was the reason she did not ask for a tip. \r \r Well, I just looked at my AMEX account and see that she charged me $110 dollars! I did not authorize or agree to a $50 tip. \r \r I certainly hope that this is not a condoned business practice of Mitchells hairstyling, and that this matter is looked into further on corporates end. \r more

Not friendly at ALL:( 11/5/2011

I don't know why I keep going to this unfriendly place. My daughter got a haircut and the stylist( Samantha) was stone cold. Not friendly at all with my teenage daughter. She never acknowledeged us or even tried to make any conversation. It's disappointing that they work in a customer service field and don't even bother to speak. I don't even know why I tipped. Maybe it's because regardless of my service I did have the decency to tip her! Awful!! The front desk was friendly Find another job if u are tired!!!! My daughter says the other stylists seemed friendlier!. more

Disappointing hari cut; stylist In too much of a hurry 2/3/2011

I received a hair cut a couple of weeks ago from probably the most expensive hairstylist at the salon. My hair cut cost me $60.00, but my bob has no shape and is really sloppy. I was in and out of her chair in less than 30 minutes so she she could obviously take short cuts and not pull it up in sections to insure that it was even. I've had other less than desirable experiences at Mitchell's. I won't go back. more

Looking For Lisa G 7/27/2009

Lisa G has cut my hair for some time. She always used a razor for parts that like to do their own thing. She is the first stylist I have ever had that can cut ny hair so it stays doing what it is supposed to do even as it grows out. I would drive twice the distance to get to her. Heard she went somewhere closer to where she lives. Can someone tell me where she is PLEASE!!!! more

There are Two Ambers! 3/19/2009

Please specify which Amber did a bad job. There are two Ambers, and Amber Lee did a nice job for me on several occasions. I've paid for high-priced haircuts at high-priced salons, and she was just as good as many of them. Pros: Amber Lee did a fine job more

Amber should be fired! 1/25/2009

Amber cut my hair & it is the -absolute worst- haircut of my life! I wanted 1 or 2 small layers near the bottom and swoosh bangs starting at mouth level. What I got was several choppy, uneven layers starting just below the top of my head!! And bangs that barely reach my eyebrows. This women clearly should pick another profession! The salon is fine - but if they tell you Amber will be doing the job, I seriously suggest you request a different stylist!! I wished I had looked at Ambers other horrible review on here. Now its going to take 2-3 months to recover from this nightmare. more

Best in the Triangle 8/11/2008

I have been receiving my hair care at this location for several years, following my stylist from one location to another. Of the 3 Mitchell's locations I have used, this one tops them all! Every single stylist is personable and will smile and greet you. I have yet to see anyone treated as some of the others here have mentioned and I find it unlikely that the care delivered could have been the worst ever. The manager is usually on duty and her booth is front and center where she sees and hears all. I cannot imagine she would tolerate rudeness to the clients. Pros: Wonderful stylists and staff Cons: Parking at mall :( more

Poor stylist demeanor at Mitchell's of Crabtree Mall 5/14/2008

Had my hair cut by Alisha (Level 2) at the Crabtree Mall Mitchell's recently. She had a scowl on her face the entire time, and hardly said two words to me. Meanwhile the stylists on my right and left were having lively conversations with their clients. When I showed Alisha pictures of ideas for my haircut, she offered no feedback and continued with her ""face of stone"" expression. Honestly it was the most awkward and uncomfortable hair cut experience ever. Yes, the goal is to have your hair cut, but being friendly and interested in the client is very important too - some would say even more. I was very disappointed in the way she treated me. Pros: The receptionist (shorter blonde hair) was delightful & happy to talk with me. more

great customer service 4/4/2008

Mitchel's has the best stylist around. When you walk in your greeted with a smile and it feels warm and welcoming. The stylist almost always are on time for your appointment and they really take the time to understand what look you want to acheive. Ihave nothing bad to say about Mitchel's salon because when your there your hair is in good hands. Did you know that Mitchel's hair stylist are trained to do color on clients when they first start working for the company. That includes stylist that have had years of experience prior to being hired. So all in all its not so bad after all. more

omar??? 9/24/2007

Where did he go? He was the best stylist ever! I need to find out also???? If you find out. please let me know!I have not been able to find another stylist like him. more

Omar!! 9/21/2007

Has anyone had any luck in finding where he went? He was amazing and I need him to cut my hair again! more

Omar's the best! 7/17/2007

I saw another review from one of Omar's fans...I am desperately trying to find where he is working, now. He didn't have my business card to call before leaving Mitchell's and I have had two horrible cuts since he left...I need him back! If you know where he's working, please post a review to let me know! Pros: convenience Cons: Omar left! more

Reliable and quick on weekdays 11/3/2006

They have always been able to fit me in quickly on weekdays and give me whatever cut I ask for. They seem reliable and flexible. For example after I got a cut I asked if I could also have a waxing. The woman who cut my hair was not qualified or trained to do waxing but she very quickly found someone who was and I did not have to wait. Pros: good, fast, and reliable Cons: I suspect they are very busy on weekends more

TG for Omar 2/25/2006

I thank Omar every time I look in the mirror. I had blah, boring hair before I went to see him. When I walk out after some time with Omar, I feel like I could be a hair model. I've only been twice so far, but he's done something a little different both times. I think that's a definite plus. Going again this week. He's expensive, but totally worth it. Oh, and he has never pressured me about buying anything. Very cool. Cons: lack of Omar more

You get what you pay for...sometimes 4/9/2005

I'm a customer 7+ years. First experiences OK; needed to find the right fit. I had a Level One stylist. It showed. I don't think she works there, no underlying skills or personality. Tuesday is crazy for ""Family Day"" and cheaper cuts; but good for trying someone higher. Used to be that you could get Level 3/4 and test that person for under $30. Tuesday caveat: stylists are definitely overworked; if you're there late your stylist may be losing steam. ""Tuesday"" is how I found the stylist for my wedding. When I needed to move on (My stylist moved up - job that she was doing wasn't worth the price increase), receptionist helped me find someone. Can't beat Mitchell's for convenience. I HAD low expectations for a ""Mall Salon"". Certainly not a spa. Pricing is average to good, especially if you are with a stylist close to the next Level. Pros: number of stylists, available appt. times Cons: Tuesday is crazy, Level 1 stylists more

Book well in advance! 8/22/2002

I have finally found someone who can cut naturally curly hair! And it many different styles, not just ""long"". I go to the salon in the University Mall, although I may not want to share who the stylist is, because she is so hard to get already! The shop is always clean, and they listen to what you want. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that I can never get an appointment during their ""sale"" week. I get a postcard in the mail notifiying me of the event, but it always arrives too late to book anything. I guess that comes with great stylists, though! Pros: attentive, friendly, professional Cons: busy more

the truth 6/12/2002

It looks nice from the outside and even until you sit in the chair. I have been to Mitchell's on many occasions in the past to many different stylists and overall none of them seemed to really know what they were doing. I always left looking exactly the same. One of the stylists actually lied to me so she wouldn't have to color my hair. Pros: nice look, good prices Cons: poor stylists, poor service more
