Editorial review from Citysearch 6/12/2013

Mister A's has an exception view of the San Diego Bay and is perfect to watch the sunset while dining..I'd absolutely recommend sitting outside. In addition to the atmosphere, the food was very good. The Mac and Cheese was outstanding, probably the best I've ever had. more

Best restrant ever!!! 1/27/2010

I love the restrant from start to finish. First you walk in and the smilling hostest seats you then you get to look over the menue while being pored glasses of water and looking out over down town. After you order they bring you a nice selection of bread then you're food comes looking amazing almost as good as it tastes after that you are offered a dessert menu then the server comes back and asks you wjat you would like and they bring it to you within 20 minors of ordering it and you eat it and it tasts hevanly!!!! Of corse all dining expernces have to end with paying the bill witch is not going to be cheap but all in all it was totally worth it!!!! I give it a 9 star rating!!!!! more

Christmas at the ove 1/7/2010

Though there were no tables for two at the window of George's at the Cove, we were nonetheless in a cozy, pleasant area of the Ocean Room. The waiter's wine suggestion was excellent, getting our Christmas dinner off to a great start. \r \r Each course, from date salad to dessert was mouthwateringly good! Service was impeccable, neither rushed nor lagging. \r \r The bill was $100 less than we'd paid to another city restaurant the night before for dreadful food and service! We're so glad we spent the holiday at George's!!! Pros: Unique, high quality food; perfect service Cons: None to note more

Amazing Happy Hour! 4/22/2009

Well this place is normally out of my budget but they just started this happy hour not too long ago and it is insane! I think its about as pricey as a PB happy hour! Except for you are sitting on a patio on top of San Diego!!! I got these amazing sole sliders with onion rings (not just normal onion rings.. these were fancy amazing onion rings) for $7! and a glass of chardonnay for $6 so it ended up not being that bad and the view.. omg.. Highly Recommend!! :0) Pros: View, Great Deals Cons: ? more

Consistently one of the Best Restaurants in San Diego 1/30/2009

First time I went there was in the late 80's when I was eleven and the maitre'd made me put on a jacket from their coat closet. It was a very proper place back then and surprisingly it was rumored to be owned by the mob. Recently the formality has eased but it is still a very fine restaurant and one should wear a coat though it is not required. \r Over the last few years we have gone there often for family occasions. Twice I?ve had the Beef Tenderloin with gorgonzola cream sauce. By far my most favorite on the menu. And surprisingly filling. Others in my party have had the duck and the salmon, which I sampled and both were excellent. The appetizers I?ve tried were the Lobster Bisque and the oysters on the half shell, which were served with a delicious cocktail sauce. And I?ve had a number of different salads, each unique with their various accoutrements. My mother said that the foie gras was exceptional though she was upset after I told her how it was made. I for one plan on getting it next time. Sorry PETA\r I do have to say that I was disappointed in the bouillabaisse which seemed too loaded with mussels and other undesirable fish. \r Service is excellent and the various staff is attentive and accommodating.\r Besides the food, the true highlight of Mr. A?s is the panoramic evening views from the dining room. Mr A?s sits a top a building that nears downtown and the airport. The atmosphere is genteel yet the elegant setting is calming and pleasant. If you are in search of a fine dining experience at a classic restaurant then I recommend Mr. A?s.\r Pros: Food, Atmosphere, View, Service more

Boycott this restaurant to help stop animal cruelty! 1/20/2009

The Animal Protection and Rescue League asks you to boycott this restaurant to help stop animal cruelty.\r \r Mr. A's continues to serve fois gras, the liver of ducks or geese which have endured weeks of force feeding, performed by jamming large metal pipes down their throats and filling them with massive quantities of food. This is the equivalent of forcing a 150 pound human to eat 60 pounds of food per day.\r \r The livers of these poor birds swell up to ten times their normal size, inducing a disease that veterinarians call ""hepatic lipidosis"". These fattened, diseased livers are served as foie gras.\r \r Please call Mr. A's and inquire if they are still serving fois gras. If so, then please let them know that you choose to patronize restaurants which do not engage in this horrific cruelty.\r \r Your call will make a difference!\r Cons: Animal cruelty. more
