Last Saturday I was bored with my hair color and cut and wanted a fresh start. I looked up Salon Mingle and was lucky enought to get an appt. that evening. I had the best time! Everyone was so nice and really made me feel special. The color turned out great and so did the cut. Being new to the city, this was my first "city"salon experience and must say it was money well spent. Speaking of money, based on what was done and the end cost, I expected it to cost a lot more than it did. Bottom line, I would highly reccommend this salon! I never had my hair done in NYC, for fear of outrageous prices. I was desperate to do something new with my hair though, and with an important business occasion looming, I had to get it done ASAP. After several suggestions to sign up to be a hair model, I searched Craigslist & found Mingle. I was able to get an appointment for the exact day I wanted it. I was offered water immediately upon arrival, which was appreciated. Sheila was my stylist, and she was great! She did everything I asked, and she helped me decide what to do with her suggestions. I am so happy I found this salon--I will definitely be back! I HIGHLY recommend it--it's in a great area, and the prices are definitely reasonable. My husband and I went to NY for our anniversary and decided we should get our hair done while we were there. I looked up Salon Mingle on Citysearch, and based on the reviews, made an appointment for the both of us. Tina worked on my hair, and she was soo AWESOME! I seriously had never seen my hair look so good before in my life! My color looked so natural and my cut was great! She was also very helpful on showing me how to style it. My husband had an appointment with Hiroshi, and he absolutely was amazed at how great of a stylist he is! The staff there was so nice, and we just felt so comfortable the whole time we were there. They offered us drinks and gave a little head massage after the shampoo. I wish I could afford to fly out the NY everytime I need a touch up, but that could get expensive. I've only been going to Salon Mingle for a couple of months now but I can honestly say that they have spoiled me to ever going anywhere else. From the minute you walk in the door you are greeted by some of the most wonderful, attentive people I've ever met in a salon. The amazing scalp massage and then neck massage when you get your hair washed just makes you forget the work day, which is very difficult for me! Jose is fantastic, he took the mess that my previous stylist had made my hair and made it look absolutely gorgeous. I leave the salon glowing every time. more

I've been going to Hiroshi for a while now, and the experience just keeps on getting better. He always takes time to find what suits the spape of my face and skull best, listens to what I want, and then turns my dream hairstyle into reality. I have thick, coarse Asian hair, but Hiroshi can make me look divine. He's skilled at cutting a wide range of styles. I've changed a few hairstyles now, and they all look amazing on me. For those who are always wary in trying out new hair salons, you should have no fear at this one. Hidden between the ever-so-bustling Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, this place is the best kept secret for great hair cuts, dyes, perms...you name it! The attentive staff is always curteous and open to listening to what you want/don't want - none of that weird pressure of doing anything you're not sure of. (Of course, they will give each client suggestions based on their hair type, etc., but they will make sure you are comfortable with what you choose to do). Most important factor here is what you walk out with: hair that reflects exactly what you asked for from a talented staff. Be sure to check these guys out! Ralph Scibelli is the reason I went to Salon Mingle, NY. I travel from New Haven, Connecticut to see Ralph and as far as I am concerned I would travel anywhere to have him do my color. He gives you his undivided attention, takes time to really study your hair and comes up with a color like no other. He not only colors and highlights? he carefully paints in low lights with an artist brush. Therefore, you leave the salon with the most natural color ever. He is a true artist. Thank you, Ralph. I've been getting my hair cut and colored in Westport, CT by Jose and Danielle for several years now. Recently, I wasn't able to schedule them on a Wednesday, so I made the trek into NYC to have them do my hair there. I was pleasantly surprised by Mingle Salon! Of course, Jose and Danielle delivered nothing less than the excellent cut and color I've come to expect from them, but I loved the fabulous head and shoulder (and neck!) massage I got with the shampoo. The salon was hip, music was funky (GOOD funky), and the other people working there seemed artistic. The salon I'm used to in CT is upscale, but Mingle was not just upscale -- it was upscale and edgy. I took advantage of my day in the city to go shopping in the neighborhood (5th Avenue, hello!) and have lunch with a friend I haven't seen in ages. My friend, BTW, will be booking her next hair appointment at Mingle, thanks to me. I may make a day out of it from now on to get my hair done in NY instead of booking Jose and Danielle in Westport. Ralph Scibelli has joined Mingle as a colorist. Mingele has a convenient midtown location, a friendly staff, a great head-and-shoulder massage with shampooing. Tina, my new stylist, salvaged my hair after a disastrous haircut at an unnamed beauty chain. But Ralph is my reason for switching my allegiance to Mingle. I've been going to him (gasp!) for almost three decades. I'm Irish, and my hair turned grey when I was practically a child (!). Believe me, grey is not flattering for women in their 30s and 40s. Ralph is so good and the color looks so natural that in all these years no one has asked me who does my color. So, here is my chance to recommend him. (Plus, he's a neat guy.) I regularly get my haircut by Jose Valdez. He is amazing! He's attentive, meticulous and a true artist at cutting hair. The staff is also friendly and helpful with a relaxing environment to match. It's a pleasure to attend Mingle salon. Pros: I haven't yet one negative experience more

My hair stylist has been Michio for about 10 years now. Every time I veer away, I always come back. Michio is the best kep secret in the industry (well, I guess not anymore!). Michio has developed his craft over many years, coming to New York from Japan and working his way up. All the way up to the couture shows in Paris, doing incredible creations for houses such as Chanel, Yohji, Gaultier and others. Michio also does plenty of the fashion shows here in New York during Fashion Week. And if it's good enough for Chanel, it's good enough for me! Fortunately the prices are not Chanel, and Michio knows how to deliver high fashion style while adapting it to your tastes. I always get that, "I like your haircut!" comment even though I work in a corporate setting. I think this is particularly difficult for men, but Michio delivers. If you are looking to take a chance on a new salon, and don't want to walk into either an exclusive club that wouldn't have you as a member, or one of those "factories" where you would be forgotten, then get thee hence to Salon Mingle. Michio ensures that customers are treated as guests. The service is attentive, but low-key, and everyone who works with him makes sure you're well looked after. But the person who has kept me a loyal customer is Ralph Scibelli. A master colorist, Ralph took the time to really know me--what I like and what I don't, and came up with a color solution that leaves my friends and colleagues ever asking for his name and number. Red is truly one of the most difficult colors to pinpoint for an individual, but from the very beginning, Ralph had it absolutely spot on. To paraphrase someone, he leaves me looking like me, only far, far better. Ralph also knows how and when to adjust it for the seasons, such that I can sit down, and never discuss what he's going to do. I trust him implicitly, which is no small thing. Ralph is down to earth and knows his clients so well--I'm so pleased that he is back at Salon Mingle. Book him now! Hiroshi is also a perfect 10. While he has not colored or cut me, he has given me the most unparalleled head massage as part of a shampoo I've ever had--it's a spa treatment unto itself. He has styled my hair, and does a brilliant job every time. His demeanor is very sweet, accomodating and you'll find him quite skilled! If you are thinking of getting hair extensions, Tina at Salon Mingle is the absolute best the city has to offer. I have had hair extensions done at other top NY salons and have always had trouble with maintenance, extensions falling out or not looking right. Tina is extremely thorough and does a meticulous job - this looks and feels just like my natural hair, and I have had zero problems with maintenance. She has offered extraordinary service and care by following up with me to see how they are being maintained, and asking me to come in periodically to look at them. I have never had a stylist that cared so much about the quality of the end result, and I am a perfectionist myself and the first to jump from salon to salon to find someone that will get it right. I know I will never have to look elsewhere based on the superior work and result that Tina can achieve - she is truly talented and unique as a stylist. Hiroshi is the best! He's attentive to giving me what I want in cut and color but subtlely offers suggestions for improvement in the best style for me. He was so relaxed and confident I trusted him from the get go, which is unusual for me the first time I go to a salon---I'm usually shaking! He worked magic on my damaged, wavy yet thin hair. I've been going to Miho for a long time and I LOVE HER!!! She's fun, energetic, has great work ethics, and most of all she cuts amazing hair. Mingle is a great scene for Miho and such a nice place for guests - it's near some amazing shopping! The few workers I got to encounter were inviting and attentive. Would I recommend Miho and Mingle? Absolutely! Miho will make you look good and the Mingle staff will make you feel at home. What more could you ask for? more

Wow, she is amazing. I was a little bit nervous to get my hair cut short, but Miho encouraged me and showed me a style that suit me. When I saw myself in the mirror, I was so happy. I recently got a hair cut, color and high light with MIHO. What I really liked about her was she took time to discuss what type of hair style I wanted to do. Because I came across so many stylists who didn't really care what I wanted...they did what they wanted, and I got sooo disappointed before, as I am sure many do. So, when I got the style that I had in my mind came alive, I was so thrilled!! I've been getting many compliments and have to share my great experience with Miho. Oh, I also have to say this salon is very pleasant and relaxing! Such a great mix of Japanese essence with NY top beauty salon! If you really want to get your money worth atmosphere, service and style, you have to go to Mingle!!
