Milton's Rocks! 3/7/2012

Your food and your service is top notch! I have NEVER had a bad meal or experience at Milton's. Even when trying to 'watch what i eat' i'm still able to enjoy the outstanding quality of service your team provides. Most recently I dined at the bar and had the salmon salad coupled with several very good glasses of wine... WOW, what a great meal. I'll be back for sure!!! David more

Best Dining Option in Crabapple 12/23/2010

We are constantly looking for new dining options that do not require us to drive into the city. I had heard about Milton's and decided to give it a shot. We were thrilled with the experience. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu and preparation. They also informed us of the historical significance of Jim Broadwell's old home that has been renovated into a beautiful dining room. I was thrilled to discover that they have added a garden and grow the majority of their vegetables on site. We were impressed that the Dining Room Manager as well as Chef Boyd came by our table to check on us. Chef Boyd went as far as to inquire about which entr?es we had chosen and give us more insight into the making of the dishes. Milton's will definitely make it to our list of restaurants we frequent. Make sure that you finish with the carrot cake, it was out of this world. more

Small Portions, Bad Service, High Prices 11/27/2010

Been hearing about Milton's for years and decided to try it last night. Being a born southerner, I started with the fried green tomatoes. They were horrible. Sliced paper thin with gobs and gobs of goat cheese. I actually removed the fried outer part to actually see if there was really a tomato inside. A member of our party paid $29 for the duck. It was two medallions of duck breast, each about the size of a silver dollar. Not work $10, much less $29. I had the catfish, which I was told was amazing. Two overly breaded filets about the size of a dollar bill. Fried perfectly, but the fish was old and soggy inside. Barely edible. The hush puppies were probably from the day before. They were dry and tasteless. The service was horrible. Kept having to flag down our server to get refills on tea and water. The bloody mary I ordered tasted like tomato juice with just a splash of vodka. Honestly was the worst bloody mary I have ever tasted. My wife and mother in law both ate appetizers for their dinner and still the bill for 4 came out to $110 before tip. The really only good part of the dinner was the bread and the valet parking attendant. Save your money. This place is horribly overpriced, underportioned and the service was really bad. more

Excellent! So excited to have found this place! 11/4/2009

We decided to try Milton's for our anniversary, as it is close to home and we had never been before. I believe the restaurant is a converted farmhouse, and the interior is very warm and comfortable. They seated us next to the fireplace, which was nice. The cheese assortment appetizer is excellent and large enough for 3-4 people to share. On our server's recommendation, I tried the trout. It was very good-it comes on mashed potatoes, with shrimp fritters (I think) and asparagus, and was really too much food. I will definitely visit again! Pros: Great food, and lots of it Cons: none more

We arrived without a reservation, waited under 15 minutes. During our wait. (5) count them (5), different staff members welcomed us to Milton's. What kind of kool aid are the feeding these people!. The food was fantastic, we enjoyed a Duck confit appetizer, the best duck I have ever eaten. Entrees included, Freshly caught snapper, I could taste the difference, and a Pork Chop that had unbelieveable flavors. The whole experience was surreal. No less than 3 people attended our table. Including the CHEF!! Where in ATL does that happen? At Milton's We will be back, friends in tow. Pros: Service was seamless Cons: A bit noisy more

Great place, great food, great time 6/5/2009

We went with a group of friends on a Friday night and sat out on the porch (nice ambience except for a distant view of the street). They had live music (really good - the guy sounded just like James Taylor) and the food was quite good (we had the cheese (goat, brie, blue) platter & fried artichokes for appetizers & shrimp and grits, trout, filet for dinner). We've lived in Atlanta for many years and eat out a lot, but it was our first time eating at Milton's. We really enjoyed it and will definitely come back. Pros: Great food with varied menu, ambience, outdoor seating Cons: Not a restaurant to bring young children more

WOW! an amazing experience in crabapple 10/31/2008

This spot is not to be missed. But be careful not to tell everyone, otherwise you'll never get in again. All three of our dinners (steak, trout and pork chop) were outstanding, from the crab bisque (best I've ever tasted) through the dessert (decadent flourless chocolate cake). We were also impressed with the unusual sides that are paired with each meal: baked blue cheese mac with the steak and homemade red cabbage and a fall vegetable bread pudding with the pork chop. DELICIOUS! We enjoyed it ALL and left nothing on our plates! Chef Rose made excellent recommendations and we all enjoyed his southern charm. Manager Jim Carter and the wait staff could not have been more attentive and gracious. It was a totally enjoyable dining experience on our first time there and fwe found you via word-of-mouth. We will be back. Pros: The drive through the back roads of North Fulton and arriving at the old farm house to the best fare we have had in a long time Cons: The busier they get, the harder it will be to get in with the small farm house but worth they try more

Not so good time. 10/8/2008

Since having two small children, we don't get to go out much and after reading all of the reviews for this place we were really excited about checking them out for brunch. BIG MISTAKE. Don't take my word for it: upon leaving, two of the employees told us that they consistently did a terrible job at brunch. Anyway, back to the disaster. Apparently they were having a major issue in the kitchen after two employees failed to show for work. Next, it took about 20 minutes to be seated. I know, 20 minutes may sound awesome for Atlanta until you consider the fact that the place was completely empty. I mean it took 15 minutes before someone came to the front and greeted us. After that, we started out on the patio but that ended shortly after the swarm of flying things overran us. We were able to finish our meal inside after we, our selves, moved all of our table items. The meal: I had fried green tomatoes and eggs which were marginal. This is the South; if they are going to put fried green tomatoes on the menu I recommend they step it up a notch. The wife had an omelet which was a tasteless flat mess and came with the saltiest country ham you will ever eat. I know that everyone has bad days so, in all fairness, we are going to give them another chance. The decor was nice and the bar looked like a great place to catch a happy hour drink on the ride home. Pros: decor, setting, multiple patios Cons: Service more

... amazing. 4/25/2008

As a former groupie of Rainwater, I was shocked when it closed. I was pleasantly surprised however, to see that the former chef and general manager re-grouped and moved down the road to Milton's. The food and ambiance were superb, but the service left something to be desired.... it wasn't quite on par with the cuisine. Our server completely neglected the specials and even brought us the wrong entrees, something I would not expect from a place that is supposedly Alpharetta's answer to fine dining. I would strongly recommend it to a friend - in about six months though, once Chef Rose and Jimmy Carter get their feet on the ground and make the changes they need to. Pros: food, food, food! Cons: poor service more

Great experience 3/4/2008

My girlfriend and I went with some friends to Miltons recently. It has an interesting layout and great ambience. The atmosphere was nice and the food delicious. It is a bit pricey but it was expected with the area as well as the food...definitely get your money's worth. You won't be disappointed with this place! Pros: Great service. Everyone was very pleasant. Cons: It was chilly outside and we were seated on patio, should have asked if that was ok first. more
