Great Korean Food 7/19/2010

This terrific restaurant if filled with students and regular people eating fantastic and tasty Korean food. For starters, they give you at least 5 or 6 appetizers (fish, vegetable, seaweed, etc) , plus green tea - all included in the price of a meal. We generally order the Bim....a hot pot of rice, egg, srpouts, spinach shrimp, beef and mackeral. It is amazing. They have green lemonade - a holdover from the restaurant's former life as a fountain shop, and the only dessert is chicklets gum given to each patron with the bill. The owners are there night and day, and they are constantly changing the decor - sometimes they have legos pasted in the bathroom, sometimes sewing machines in the cabinets overhead. The prices are very reasonable. Recommended., Pros: Authentic tasty food, inexpensive, lively ambience Cons: Very tiny tables more

Best Korean in the NY outside of KTown 4/8/2010

Why are there no Korean restaurants outside of Ktown in Manhattan? I just don't get it. Wait, there is one and it also has grills at the tables. The food is affordable, the service is pleasant and the food is good. I usually order the Chop Chea and Kalbi. more

Best Korean out of K-Town 3/12/2008

Or maybe the only Korean out of K-Town in Manhattan... Has all the essentials: bibimbop, bbq, and plenty of kimchee. more

Cheap and Easy Korean Food 12/12/2006

Been here as an undergrad at Columbia and back here again even after over ten years later. I do still enjoy this place. Price is affordable comparing to those around Korea town. Food is consistently good. My servers are always nice and helpful -- could be my luck but always been treated very well. Definitely, I think you get what you pay for. Pros: quick, easy, cute, good services, affordable Cons: tight space more

Can make it to Ktown then this is a gem 6/16/2006

I get delivery from this place and let me tell ya it's fast and pretty darn good. I have had it all there from noodles, rices, meats, and veggies. It's a great fix for Upper West Korean Food. Pros: Upper West, Tasty, Quick Delivery more

Hey guys mill is not THAT bad 3/8/2005

Mill is a great little place. You just have to know what to order. Their silk tofu casserole with seafood is usually good. Their noodle soup called ""kalgooksoo"" is usually good although sometimes the noodles can be overdone. Their hot stone pot rice cakes in red pepper sauce for two (also known as modeum ddukboki) is usually excellent but only fit for the experienced and adventurous or native palate. The same goes for their squid sauteed in red pepper sauce is also good (this dish is known as nakji-bokum). The service is usually quick and easy, plus its always interesting to look at the clippings and tchotchkes. Pros: Some dishes great, Cute ambience, Quick and easy servic Cons: Some dishes mediocre more

not a good first impression 3/8/2004

i ate here for the first time the other night. the food was all right, but i probably won't go back. we had the mackeral (lots of bones) and the hot seafood pot. the seafood was chewy and the dish was flavorless, though the condiments are always good. the service was horrible: impatient, unhelpful and inattentive. i don't mind attitude from a server but only if i get the basic service, which i did not. the bathroom was very well decorated, though. Pros: nice bathroom Cons: , horrible service, horrible service more

Worst Korean Food I've Had 3/12/2003

Unlike the former reviewer, Jacob, I have spent quite a bit of time in Korea. When I moved to the UWS to attend Columbia, I was excited to find a Korean restaurant in the area - my excitement was quickly erradicated when I ate at the Mill. The food was worse than almost any I had eaten. The Kal Bi (bbq short ribs) were tough and lukewarm, the Dok Buk Ki (spicy rice cakes) were overcooked and the remainder of the dishes we ate disappointed as well. Take the time to go to Korea Town (32nd St. area) and bypass the Mill. more

rip off for students 1/30/2003

Mill is probably the worst Korean restaurant I've ever been to in NYC. It is only because it is the only Korean restaurant within the Columbia campus vicinity that people, who crave Korean food, choose to dine there. The food is served in very small portions, and the prices are not worth the amount of food they serve. Expect alot of bones, not alot of meat. Anyone who knows good quality Korean food will tell you Mill has very low quality food. Not to mention the service which is unattentive, forgetful, and reluctant to refill your sidedishes. more

Utterly convenient 10/26/2002

As a student, I'm both thrifty and picky. The Mill satiated both ends... the food was affordable, and I could eat the Bi Bim Bop, Fried Mando, and sip Lime Rickey's all day. Pros: convenient more

Uptown Korean 7/20/2002

The lunch specials are great, the menu offers your basic authentic Korean fare. As a grad student, I used this place virtually as my extended kitchen - it's very small and cozy. I would recommend the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (assorted veg. w. beef cooked w/ rice in a hot stone pot) and Soon Du Bu (a casserole of seasoned marinated boiled tofu). more
