One of the best parts of living in Houston! 4/15/2006

You won't believe the caliber of entertainment offered here for free! We often pick up tickets on Saturday morning for the evening performance. You can see th symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Ebony Opera Guild, ballet, musicals and so much more. I especially recommend that you don't miss the Taiko Drum Festical (usually in September). That performance is actually spellbinding! more

It's free and AWESOME! 11/17/2005

The first time I heard about this place I was kind of skeptical because it's free. Free stuff isn't always great. I, however, was wrong. This place is so beautiful and hosts many plays, music events and other events throughout the year. If the seats are filled up, they have a lawn where you can sit and watch. Be sure to pick up tickets early, if you have to. They go quickly. I'm waiting for a few plays to come out. Can't wait to see them. more

outdoor theatre 10/27/2005

they have morning shows geared toward kids and families the evening shows more for all ages. they have covered seating and lawn seats. in the morning covered seating is free but in the evening for some performances it requires reservations. the lawn seats are great you can bring either blankets or chairs and they have chairs on one side as not to obstruct the view of others. you are also allowed to bring coolers but no glass.what a great family outing. more

Great Entertainment for the Whole Family 8/21/2005

I love the Miller Outdoor theater and it is completely free to the public. They have the funny hit "Greater Tuna" now playing and it is absolutely free to the public. It is outdoors and on a grassy knoll. You can have a picnic, bring the family, and go to the museum, or to the zoo afterward. It is conveniently located near the Medical Center in Hermann Park, and we always have a great time when we go. more

Outdoors 8/21/2005

This is the theatre! I remember a few years ago when we went to go see a play. It was the coolest thing. The stadium seating reminds of the theater in Australia which I can't think of right now. The sound that resonates is very good and the seats are slightly comfortable. The best part though is that it is almost always free. I will go back. more

Miller Outdoor Theater 8/21/2005

Miller Outdoor Theater is set in Houston's beautiful Herman Park. Miller is an excellent cultural resource for Houstonians. People of taste can enjoy free evenings of quality performing arts entertainment at this outdoor amphitheater. The Houston Symphony does several concerts every summer and many cultural festivals in the park culminate with a musical performance in the evening. Often during the summer, Miller is the hot ticket for the evening and best of all it is always free! more

Concerts you will never forget 8/20/2005

This outdoor covered theater gives you something each and every time you go there. It is always absolutely spectacular. If go to the Miller's Outdoor theater the morning of the concert you can get reserve seating for free and you are able to sit under the covered section in an actual seat. If not you can have lawn seating, or just wait until later on that night and see if any seats are available. All concerts are free and fun to the entire audience. Their is a lot of audience participation at all times, and of course their is food, and drinks, along with souvenirs available to purchase before, during and after the shows. more

Great date for cheapskates! 8/9/2005

Ok, you don't have to be a cheapskate to enjoy Miller Outdoor, you just have to love performances! During the summer offerings range from dance to symphony to Shakespeare to musicals! I recently attended a performance of "The Music Man" and it was very entertaining and professionally performed. The best thing to do is take a picnic basket and show up an hour or two early to save a seat on the lawn and enjoy the summer evening. Did I mention this is free?? more

Perfect Setting for a relaxing evening 8/8/2005

I recently moved to Houston and saw local ads in the paper promoting summer events at this great outdoor theatre located adjacent to Hermann Park and the museum district. My friends and I wanted to go see fireworks for July 4th and he heard that the Houston Symphony was playing a patriotic themed concert at the theatre so we went. We got there about an hour early and it was already getting packed... people with lawnchairs sit on the left side of the hill and everyone on blankets on the right. It was a perfect evening with lots of kids and good music. Everyone brings coolers for little picnics with their friends. If you go there they have brochures for events throughout the summer season... with an event scheduled almost for everyday ranging from music to dance to musicals. And best of all.. its all free.. The covered seats do require that you go early in the day and get a ticket for them.. but again its free. more
