Can I give ZERO stars? 6/29/2011

Wow. This was a horrible experience. I wish we had looked at their citysearch reviews first. We had a faucet that all of a sudden wouldn't shut off all the way. The guy came out the next afternoon. First of all, he was 35 minutes late. I had to leave work early and wait around for him, and by the way they say on their website that if they guy is not on time, it's free. I called to see where he was, and apparently they had called my husband and said is was more of a ""window"" of when he'd show up. Well then, don't put that on your website, because it's BS. The guy got there and didn't even introduce himself. He looked at the sink, gave me an overview of the problem, and then went back out to his truck for about 10 minutes to write up the estimate. Turned out to be $400 -but wait- I got a magical 15% discount without even asking, lucky me! ... OH, I also asked for a breakdown of the charges--labor, parts, etc. He said they don't do that. That is standard, you should ALWAYS get that or tell them to hit the road. I should have told him right then and there to get lost. So I told him I thought that was too high. Come on. I went to talk to my neighbor, who agreed. We told the plumber that we were going to find a different guy for the job. He got very defensive, but wouldn't leave without collecting his $75 fee for showing up. Even though he was late. I complained afterward and supposedly will have my $75 fee waived. If it appears on my statement, I'll dispute the charge and report them to the state board. I'm angry about someone so blatantly trying to rip me off and providing horrible service while asking how they can ""make me smile."" Oh and that $400-- turns out it was just to replace a gasket in the faucet. Which technically, I should have been able to do myself. So, that is just SO obviously a rip off that it's just not even funny. more

Plumbing con artists 11/30/2010

They are the biggest rip off artists. My heating went out over the Thanksgiving weekend and they came out on Sat. and quoted me a price of $15,000 to move my heater from hall to attic. They said I needed asbestos removal a city permit and a city inspection for another cost of $1000.\r \r I called some other people (Lenco) and they said they could do the whole thing for $6000.\r \r I would never recommend them to anyone... more

Smell Good Plumber's Business Practices STINK! 7/6/2010

I went for the $ 99 drain cleaning. It didn't work. So the small-good plumber wanted to do a $ 250 hydroflush. He also found a pinhole leak in a copper pipe, and said THAT would be $ 500. Nice try, Mike !! I'd rather have an HONEST Bubba! The ads are enticing. They sound good. But the service is a blatant attempt to overcharge for what should be simple plumbing repairs. Stay away from the guys on the radio. Good plumbers don't need radio ads. Pros: Shows Up Fast Cons: Bair & Switch Personified more

Tried to price-gouge us! 10/18/2009

We called for an estimate on sump pump repair on a day it was supposed to rain, so Mike Diamond Plumbing apparently thought they could make a lot of money that day by price gouging suckers. After attempting to charge us $272 for an estimate on our sump pump that they originally said would cost us $76, they then handed us an estimate for the work they claimed needed to be done on our sump pump. They said it needed $2690 worth of work, or, alternatively, we could pay $6275 and replace the entire thing. When we checked around to see if these prices were reasonable, we learned that the work they said needed to be done actually costs between $180 and $300 (at least a $2390 difference) and that a new sump pump actually costs around $1800, including labor (a difference of $4475). To top it all off, we didn't actually need any of these things - we were ultimately able to fix our sump pump (using another company, of course) for $125. After they heard we wouldn't be using their services, the tech from Mike Diamond then proceeded to call my husband's office and harass his assisant - apparently upset that we had figured out his plan to price-gouge us. Pros: Showed up quickly to attempt to overcharge us by 900% Cons: Total crooks more
