Midas Auto Service & Tires

I had gone to this Midas once before and was puttoff by how i was treated, but i decided to give them a second chance. I needed to get my check engine light looked at, (which they do as a free service) and knowing they would be busy on a weekend, i called ahead to see about arranging a time. I was told i could come in whenever and they would hook it up. Great! On getting there, it was as busy as i expected and inside i spoke to the manager. He said, to give him a minute and he would bring it in to take a look. He did not even take my key or anything. So far, still okay. Then, i waited for 20 minutes for one of the several workers to take my keys or ask if they could help. Nothing! So i went to stand at the counter to see if i could get their attention and find out how much longer i was going to have to wait. After another 5 minutes of waiting and no so much as even being recognized that i was waiting, I left. I will NEVER take my car back there again. They may have good mechanics and i will never know becuase both times i have got blocked by their horrible customer service skills. more

I never used a Midas before today. I was able to spend time with the owner as they worked on my Silverado. Looks like the new owner may have taken over in late 2008 or early 2009. This may explain for the the older bad reviews. They did a great job on my truck and I plan on using them on my other cars as well. Sometimes I feel mechanics are trying to make a buck. This place really wants to help you out and it is kind of nice. If you don't have a favorite mechanic, then you may find this place refreshing and affordable. They also have the Midas name behind them which is nice. Pros: Very Friendly and helpful - Good about Cost Cons: None so far more

Went in for brake job and oil change. Manager is quick and knowledgeable. Staff was nice and they were great. No complaints here. I recommend this shop if you want an honest clean and fast job well done. Thanks guys! more

I needed a break and muffler on my Honda and I wasn't quite sure how much it was going to cost. The owner himself took the time to make sure I got the best deal. They ended up being the best price in town and they offered an awesome warranty that the other shop down the road could not beat. I got great value and excellent service. I recently had a great experience at the Hillsboro Midas and wanted to share my experience with others. I recently took my truck to be repaired and was pleasantly surprised by a knowledgeable and welcoming staff. I needed a few things done to my car of which they beat another local shop by a couple of hundred dollars and managed to correct an alignment problem, faulty O2 sensor, rattling exhaust, new tires and a full gamut of maintenance issues in only a couple of days. The staff actually listened to me describe my problems! I think thats a mechanic shop first! Highly recommended! Pros: Excellent service Cons: They are busy, so best to call ahead more

Took my car in for an oil change and because of the inspections that they do on all of the cars they found a few items that were potential hazzards to me. I can not afford for accidents to happen and the manager explained to me what I needed and gave me a timeline and a plan to work with to get everything done. I have nearly everything done now and I'm so thankful. I need to keep my car running because I can't go out and buy a new one. I feel like he cared and was not out to rip me off like so many other car shops. I recommend this shop! Pros: Fast Service, Friendly office, excellent prices more

I went in for warranty service and we determined I would have to come back as they needed to order the part for my older Subaru Loyale. The order was dropped by the vendor, so they reordered from another vendor. When I came in for the replacement, I sat and had a wonderful conversation with the new owner as we are both former high tech employees. My time spent was so enjoyable, they had the car finished before I realized it. I would highly recommend them as they did a great job all the way around. Pros: Very professional and courteous. I have been a loyal Midas shopper for over 20 years and for the most part they always did a decent job diagnosing and repairing most issues I had. This particular location in Hillsboro is among the WORST in the area. The new owner is a rude and unfriendly man that makes you want to get back to your car and leave the shop at once! I wish he shows less of himself around the shop. He started to argue with me about what "HE THOUGHT" my problem was before even lifting the car and looking at it. When I disputed his claim that my 2 year old muffler is shot, he responded by joking that my "old rig ain't worth fixin!"..... Take your car to this shop at your own risk... I had my truck in for minor repairs and they backed it into something. They put several dents in the back of my truck and refused to take any responsibility for it. I spoke to the owner of ALL the oregon Midas stores and when I explained the situatuion he was a d!ck and told me " prove it". They have no sense of customer service or integrity. Pros: NONE Cons: they dented my truck and wouldnt even admit they did it let alone repair it more

Maybe I've been incredibly unlucky here, but I brought my car in for a rattling sound, and they insisted the muffler system I had bought only a year ago had rusted and needed to be completely replaced. When they were done, the car continued to rattle as I drove back to work! They got it fixed for a 2-3 days, and then it would start rattling again. After 4 follow-up visits, I still couldn't believe the issue wasn't fixed. Finally I gave up and took my car to a different muffler place where they fixed the issue in 15-minutes, at no charge. The guys at Midas were certainly friendly, but they were out for sales and had no idea how to trouble-shoot or weld effectively. Pros: Friendly sales people Cons: Poor trouble-shooting skills, poor welding skills..all about making a sale more
