Great Food! We had my second baby shower here for brunch and it was an overall great experience. We had the shower on a busy Sunday morning but everything was perfect! Great Exper...

Worst

This is a nice looking place and the service was good but both times I've been here the food just didn't click.

Didn't live up to the good reviews 6/14/2003

Went on a Sat night, the service, including the valet parking was great, however the food was not. Also, the dining room was very dark. We were looking for a romantic meal, but we could barely read the menu. First the Clam Chowder was overly spicy (not a good thing) and was sent back, even the waiter agreed it was too spicy. I had the Berry Infused Martini which tasted nothing like berries, more like warm vodka with a strawberry on top. The shrimp was ""shrimpy"" (again, not a good thing) and too much seasoning and sauces were on everything, which meant that you couldn't really taste the food. Dessert was good though, we had the bread pudding (HUGE!) and the Bailey's cheesecake. All in all, the service and ambience were great, but don't go there for a great meal. Pros: service, valet parking, ambience Cons: food, martini, lighting more

Great Service 11/21/2002

My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Michael Dean's and we thought the food was inventive and stimulated my taste buds. Service was excellent as always. It is obvious that they spend a great deal of time training theeir servers. We had a great time in the bar listening to a band while drinking fantastic martinis. Thanks for a great evening. Pros: valet parking, great bands, comfortable patio more

The Best 10/14/2002

The food is so good. I would recommend the Salmon Oscar. It was to die for. Everything I have ever eaten there is really good. I would recommend reservations because it is always packed. Pros: everything more

Awesome Seafood Selections 10/2/2002

Michael Dean's is my favorite Raleigh area restaurant. I adore their seafoods prepared in the wood-fired oven. I am never disappointed with any of the seafood that I have ordered there. They also have a great bar with terrific martinis and a friendly staff. The cute guys don't hurt the ambiance, either. Pros: great seafood, flavored vodkas, great service Cons: pricey more

best value 9/22/2002

You can't beat the monday night special! Just the wine is worth the price...However, The quality of the food is just not consistant. Sometimes its excellent, other times its barely acceptable. more

Romantic 9/22/2002

The desserts are the best... I love the bread pudding! And on Monday nights you can dine for next to nothing a nice way to have a monday night dinner Pros: desserts, wait staff, smell Cons: parking, smoking prefrence more

Why This is my Favorite Restaurant!!! 9/4/2002

This is hands-down the best restaurant in the Triangle! I take my friends & family here for every special occasion (dates, birthdays, college graduation, and other celebrations) and recommend Michael Dean's to anyone looking for a good place to eat. Try the artichoke-spinach dip. It is truly the best in existence. Save room for dessert, especially the chocolate sampler--it is divine. I, and anyone with whom I've eaten here, has never had anything that wasn't absolutely spectacular--all the food is scrumptious. The service is friendly and professional; the dinner pace is relaxed and leisurely; the atmosphere is suited for any special occasion or just a fun night out. Make reservations. This place is so good, there's always a wait! Pros: Food, Service, Leisurely Cons: Parking, Wait time, Doesn't do Delivery more

Not Worth It! 8/29/2002

I recently went to Michael Dean's for the first time and was not impressed. I found the service to be good, but the food to only be average. I do not want to spend $23 on an average steak. For the money that was spent, I could have eaten at a much better restaurant and had much better food. I recommend keeping the money in your wallet and eating something better. Pros: service, desserts Cons: average food more

Delicious food AND dancing 8/12/2002

My husband and I really love this place. The food is always delicious. The seafood entrees are our favorite. They feature wonderful creative specials every time we go (which is often). We also enjoy the after-dinner music and dancing. The desserts are to die for (in particular the chocolate sampler and s'more). Pros: valet parking, after dinner music, wonderful food more

Half n' Half 8/7/2002

Michael Dean's is a little on the snooty side, but ultimately is a nice place. They have a good beer selection and nice wines, however the steak was too peppery and the service seemed judgemental. I would return for another dish perhaps, and if the staff could accept the fact that people do not have to be the the 30+ crowd to have the money to spend to eat there. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Attitude more

Michael Deans=Great food and atmosphere 8/7/2002

Great experience from start to finish. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff, great food and ambience. Pros: Service, Food quality, Drinks more

one of the nicer spots in N.Raleigh 8/6/2002

Staff was friendly, the music decent. Nice selection of Martinis, beers, and wine. I personally liked that they had both Bass and Guiness and knew how to pour a real Black & Tan. Scene is young professional / divorcee bar. Depends on the night. They have a nice patio area. Good place to go with friends and not necessarily to meet people although the waitresses were cute. Wood Oven food is tasty and well presented. more

Good food, good service 8/6/2002

Michael Dean's is one of the best secrets in town. Not a lot of people know about everything they offer in addition to their delicious food. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgable. They get their seafood in fresh every day. Diverse American menu (shrimp and grits, burger, steak, 8 types of fish) Appetizer specials on weekdays and late night. They have local bands and dancing on Fridays and Saturdays--with no cover. Definitely the best place to dine in North Raleigh! Pros: No cover charge, food specials, well-trained staff Cons: can be crowded more

Wow 8/4/2002

Great food and drinks. Bands playing every weekend with no cover charge. more

Michael Dean's Delivers! 8/2/2002

This is my favorite spot for business lunches. It has great food, great energy and good service. Menu provides a wide variety for all tastes, great specials, and large servings. Bar carries full menu and is packed on many nights. Pros: food, energy, service Cons: can be loud more

savor each bite, sumptous 8/2/2002

Presentation, aroma, each bite is a sumptous experience! I love Michael Dean's food (especially the seafood!) I also reccomend the martini's that involve fruit they infuse w/ vodka for 7 days! The wait staff is wellcoming and treat you like you are important and want to make your dining experience wonderful. See for yourself! more

Great Food! 7/27/2002

Best place in Raleigh to meet for drinks after work and a good dinner. more
