I really wanted to like this place. When the first appetizers came out cold, I thought, ""hmm, maybe they are supposed to be served cool."" When the main course wasn't warm either I started to have my doubts. The service was fine, friendly staff. Sangria was quite good. I didn't really like the florescent lights over the bar that made the place really bright. The food just wasn't very good, luckily it wasn't expensive. Too many good places in the mission to return here. Pros: nice staff Cons: food, lighting more

Yucatan Treat! 3/28/2006

After an afternoon of hitting some Noe Valley boutiques my husband joined me at Valley Tavern for a Newcastle. We decided to try this place, next door. We tried two items on the specials menu - Asparagus Soup and Lobster Enchilada. Both were magnificent. The Asparagus soup could easily sell in a high end restaurant for double. It was creamy, fresh and drizzled with cream served in colorful bowls. The Lobster Enchilada was full of lobster and served with the best sweet whole pinto beans I have ever had. The Sangria is refreshing and not too sweet. Some Sangrias give me almost an immediate headache, this one was good enough that to have 2 or 3 with no problem! The service was sweet and attentive. I will return. more

Tasty little gem 3/22/2005

stumbled upon this colorful, happy spot. Yummy, inexpensive dishes...interesting flavors that made it different than regular mexican. I loved the appetizer sampler platter since I got to try a bunch of different dishes. My date's pork was tender and tasty too. Great little spot for something out of the ordinary that won't break the bank or be a long drawn out dinner (unless you want the sangria to flow like that) more
