Mexican Post in CC is a comfortable atmosphere and moderately fun if you are college age. The food is good, but I would call it texmex, not Mexican. Drinks are alright for the price, but I wouldn't call them great. more

Totally gone downhill 5/30/2010

Been going to both Mexican Post locations for many years. Just stopped into the Cherry Street location for an early dinner and was super disappointed. Won't be going back. The menu has been revamped and scaled way back. (After chatting with the waitress, it's evident it was done as a cost-cutting measure.) The first margarita she brought out was nothing but water. When we mentioned it, she apologized and brought another round. They were much better. (not great, but good.) The food was really bad. The guacamole tasted like something from a supermarket. Our entrees were rather bland as well. Oh, even the complimentary nacho chips they served were stale. Very sad to see this happen at one of my favorite Center City haunts. Won't be back. Pros: Good service, nice patio, nice atmosphere Cons: food & drinks (kinda key in the resturant biz) more

Have a drink and leave 12/26/2009

I can't imagine why anyone who has eaten here would ever come for round two. There are so many amazing Mexican restaurants in the Phila area, there is no reason to settle for Mexican Post. The Tortilla soup looked and tasted like someone put tortillas and water in a blender and poured it in a dish. The black bean soup was thick and flavorless. The ""snapper"" tasted like it was previously frozen and was topped with what tasted like jarred salsa. The Veggie salad tasted pretty good going down, but both my partner and I suffered from stomach aches the rest of the night. If you want GOOD Mexican food, try Las Cazuelas at 4th and Girard or one of the many authentic taquerias near the Italian market. Tamarindos in Blue Bell has FREE awesome margaritas, savory soups, creative entrees, and a whole fresh grilled snapper encrusted in garlic that puts Mexican Post's snapper to shame. In short, save your money....or go to Taco Bell; there's not really that much difference. Pros: good margarita Cons: mediocre everything else more

Not what I bargained for 5/3/2009

Expectations not met! 11/29/2008

I am a lover of food! Of flavor! Especially mexican food; and I have to say the BEST thing I had at the Mexican Post tonight was the Modelo Especial and the salsa :-/ My mom bought my a gift cert for dinner so we went after Christmas shopping today; a long day and, well, we were kinda, no really, let down. The service was GREAT! Fast! Pleasant! But food was...well, eh. We had to dump the salsa into the Queso to ""spice"" it up. My seafood salad was SO salty I couldn't eat it and had to send it back. I ordered an a la carte enchilada and it pretty much tasted like.......nothing. Furthermore, my mom's Chicken Chimmichanga was, well, JUST CHICKEN; there was no sauce or seasoning or ANYTHING else inside and very liitle sauce outside.....good thing she had salsa and queso to dump on top. I brought home a veggie burrito for my husnad. He liked the beans and rice, but agreed that the main item, the burrito, needed some, any, flavor, other than hot (which I ordered). My advice.....go to La Esperanza in Lindenwold, NJ or whichever ""real"" mexican restaurant you have near you:( Pros: Service, Ambiance Cons: Flavor more

It's ok 4/22/2008

The inside is trendy and it's always great to have the option of an outside patio. I've eaten there twice and will say that the food was only mediocre. Not bad, just not great. Pros: Outside patio Cons: Not a memorable meal more

Best place to drink and grab some food North of Market Street.... 3/4/2008

I have visited this location many a times. Matter of fact, I have been visiting Old City Mexican Post since 17 years. There are many reviews written about both these locations. My two cents...... Pros: Great Bar, Ambience, Crowd, Value for Money Cons: They don't carry enough vairety of Wine. Service is average. more

Bar is cool, thats about it 2/14/2008

Big mexican food fan, unfortunately have yet to have a good meal here. If you like the Mexican Post, make sure to eat at the Front and Chestnut Street location where they pay more attention to you and your food. Last time I ate here, my girlfriend's enchilada was watered down and tasted as if it had just come out of the microwave. The service has been inconsistent, although last time they were very apologetic after the watered down enchilada. The bar scene is pretty neat though, especially on a warm day where you can sit on the patio. However, if you are a fan of mexican food, there are better places out there. Pros: Good bar scene, nice patio Cons: Food more
