My daughter has been a very happy student at this wonderful school for almost 2 years till Oct 2013. We recently had to move out from Houston so with a heavy heart we reluctantly had to say goodbye to this school and its teachers. My daughter had the best experience ever of taking voice and guitar lessons from the most distinguished teachers here. She could select songs that she wanted to learn. The recitals gave her the opportunity to perform in public more confidently. Whatever she learned from them will be useful forever for her. Even I took piano lessons from the owner of the school. I want to share with everyone who is interested in music lessons in Westchase dist. of Houston, that you will certainly not find any other school as good as this school, in terms of its highly qualified teachers and most friendly atmosphere. Ms. Cheryl Hall is very very efficient in maintaining and adjusting the ever changing schedules of everyone in the best way. I have experienced many other music schools but never found any other school where they give so much of flexibility in their schedules even when you have unavoidable absences due to sickness etc. (Of course its our responsibility as customers to inform them in time when we can't make it for a class). \r \r We will miss this school always and if we get a chance to be in Houston again we are certainly going to be the proud students of Memorial School of music again. more

I would like to address the posts regarding Ms. Cheryl.\r I am 23 years old.\r I went to Memorial school school of Music when I was just 10, and I can say without a doubt that Cheryl Hall is one of the most inspiring, inspirational, and kind women I have ever met. When I was ten years old, I had a very poor home situation. Cheryl Hall (my then guitar teacher) was the first person to take a general interest in my musical ability. She inspired me to write music at a very young age, and because of that I have been able to make something beautiful out of my circumstances. She was a phenomenal teacher I can only guess that a spoiled memorial housewife could mistake such an amazing women for anything less. Since having Cheryl as my guitar teacher 13 years ago, I went on to win every single battle of the bands Stratford High school, The Guthrie center, and the surrounding churches of the memorial area put on. Because of the confidence I gained in her classroom, I was able to advance in the music scene in Houston rapidly. By 19 I had my first sell out show with my band Suburban warfare at the House of Blues. By 21, I made it to the 8th round of American Idol. Cheryl wasn't just an influence to me when I was a child either. When I lost my grandparents at 18, Cheryl started showing up at my shows. She cried when saw how much I had improved with the skills SHE fostered in me. I was browsing the internet searching for Ms. Cheryl Hall because I am now sending out invitations for my College graduation. I grew up without a mother, but when I think about how far I've come, and who it was that really had an impact on my life, \r I can not think of a single person more influential that Ms. Hall.\r Cari Quoyeser more

Don't even try! 3/26/2012

Waste of time, I thought after many research I did, Memoria School of Music was a good school but is not. They make false promises to you saying they have time and teachers to accomodate with your schedule. And, when they have a problem with their schedule, they don't hesitate to call you and cancel your class or postpone it. But, forget it if you want to change instructor or time slot , they just DON'T HAVE availability. After almost two months with them I need to start again more

Great music school in the Memorial area 3/12/2011

This music school has been in business for about 15 years in the same location and possesses great staff and management. MSM (Memorial School of Music) has qualified music teachers with music degrees, and performance and teaching experience (which many other private music schools in the area lack). It offers a variety of musical styles, instruments and teaching techniques. Customer relations are excellent, with many students taking lessons for many years, forming lasting relationships with their teachers and the owner of the school. MSM goes the extra mile to satisfy customers providing a variety of teachers, days and times for lessons. Definitely one of the best music schools on the West side. This music school even possesses its own recital hall. Great place for any child (or adult) to learn music! more

Rude, unjust and dishonest. Worthy of a lawsuit. 3/1/2011

I agree with one of the reviews that the front desk lady (Cheryl is a dragon lady). To be very honest I think a racist. It makes me sad.\r \r Dishonest. Cheryl made a mistake and gave my daughter the class timing that belong to someone else. We tried to change but was simply not possible and they stopped my daughter from attending with a rude phone call. They lied (after the very first class) that my daughter was not ready to start piano when the teacher herself was impressed with her improvement in the very next class). The lies were to get me to discontinue my daughters classes as they were desperate for the other student who had been with them for 5 years. The lady at the front desk (cheryl) has influenced the teacher and owner.\r \r I can understand it is between Cheryl and the parent but when the owner and teacher to some extent supports such lies, I need not say anything more.....\r \r We are in the process of doing a formal complaint to the ""Better Business Bureau"". more

Great music school 10/24/2010

great music school & teachers 8/16/2009

My child's teacher is great. She is always on time and very good with young children. Cheryl at the front desk is very nice and works hard to accomodate your schedule. There is a great selectionof books and crayons in the waiting room to keep siblings busy during the lessons. The school often calls to remind you about scheduled lessons. Pros: great teachers; school will try to accomodate your schedule Cons: location; traffic can be bad on Memorial more

Be warned: Dragonlady 12/5/2008

This place is the WORST!!!! Do not go here, trust me! Woman who takes all calls and sits at front desk (""Dragonlady"" Cheryl) is a sociopath and has buttered up the owner to keep her job. Dragonlady is only nice to customers when owner is around. She is horrible to the parents and children and even after many many complaints, owner refuses to believe this is true. Also, they can't keep staff. more
