My soup was very cold. Husbands salmon 6/3/2012

My soup was very cold. Husbands salmon was raw and my crab cakes had so many shells in them. The waiter was intense and rushed us out. Would never recommend. more

Cherry Hill location 2/15/2012

I was thoroughly disappointed with this restaurant. I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu thinking that I would be satisfied with the meal. Needless to say, I was miles from it. I actually looked at the ""steak"" three times to process the joke I got for $34. I was warned not dine out on Valentine's Day because some restaurants skimp on portions. I didn't think this place would try it. The fact that the weights of the steaks are not on the menu is very telling. Our server was great. I wasn't going to complain and put a damper on our evening. However, when the check came, it should have been delivered by someone with a gun and a mask. We felt like we were robbed. Were it not for Melissa, Valentine's Day would have been completely ruined by this restaurant and the pathetic excuse for a $34 steak. Not only will I never return, I will make sure that my friends and family are clearly advised not to patronize either. The only reason this place got one star from me is because this site won't accept zero stars. more

What Happened To Dinning Out? 3/5/2011

Let me start out by saying I enjoy eat out more than most people. I love going to a nice dinner and taking clients out for something special. This is not the place for that. THe food is actually terrible, HOW CAN YOU MESS UP SEAFOOD??? I got a rotten oyster for an app... and then was told by our SLOW waiter, that it happens sometimes... well never has that happened to me before! I almost vomited on the table! I ordered a beer which came about 20 mins. later and had crust from the dirty tap lines in it. I had to ask for the bill 3 times before getting it... basically it was a waste of my time, and money... for how much inflation is taking a tool on our wallets, you would think going out to dinner would be an enjoyable experience. I believe if your paying a high price for food and service, it should be good... and I would rather go to red lobster and save 200 dollars than go here EVER AGAIN. Please take my advice and find somewhere else to dine... because the are NOT earning your business! more

out of control patrons 12/19/2010

My mother and I went to the Cherry Hill location today for an early dinner and there were five ""people"" at the bar who thought they were outside. I have never been in a restaurant where the patrons were allowed to scream and yell at the tv to such a level that they could be heard in any corner of the establishment. Where was the manager? We often go to this restaurant as we enjoy their food and their bar is nicely stocked - but today's experience soured me on McCormick's and I don't see us going back any time soon. \r And to the screaming savages that were there, I hope you learn some manners there is a time and a place to scream like an idiot - a restaurant is rarely that place. more

Don't Waste Your Money 6/15/2010

Worst meal ever! My husband and I stayed in the city last weekend and decided to go here for dinner. The service was beyond terrible (in fact our waitress was also working at the service bar!). Aside from being extremely slow and never being asked for drink refills, my appetizer was wrong, my husband's entree was wrong, all the food was cold and looked like it was sitting out for hours. AWFUL! Cons: horrible all around more

food and service 4/30/2010

My family and I visited this location last night. The server was very soft spoken and not enthusiastic as I would like her to have been. We ordered the crab cake appetizer - very dry. I got the surf and turf, ordered the filet to be cooked medium, it was rare, the lobster tail was literally burned. My husband ordered the filet also to be cooked medium - it was rare. We both ordered sides - the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, it wasn't until after 15 minutes into the meal that the sides came - and they were cold as ice. The mac and cheese tasted like paste, and the mash tasted instant. We ordered our son the burger with fresh fruit and he threw up all over the place. We ordered ""sex on the beach"" drinks, which is usually red any other place we go, these drinks came out brown and they were terrible - we pick one night out of the week to spend good money on a great meal and this was anything but. it was 160.00 dollars wasted - will never go there again. Pros: valet parking Cons: food and service more

Best kept happy hour secret! 4/27/2009

check out their happy hour during the week and on sundays during football season. happy hour times are early though, i think it ends at 6. but for $3 1/2 lb burger and fries and other $3 $4 and $5 specials, it cant be beat! Pros: cheap happy hour specials M-F, great fish and seafood Cons: expensive dining room more

Delicious food, but noisy 9/26/2008

I've been to this McCormick and Schmick's twice. Once I was seated upstairs, which was lovely in a booth. But downstairs is huge and very noisy. The food is overall good - only a few bum dishes, but they're still at least adequate. The waitstaff is fantastic; very knowledgeable and professional. Its pricey, but the fresh fish is good (try the Mahi Mahi), and its a much better alternative to Bookbinder's. You'll be treated well, so its worth a try. Pros: fresh fish, good soups Cons: large and noisy more

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT !!!! 9/21/2008

It?s sad that so many people did not have a pleasant visit here because I did, and I would CERTAINLY come back!! I guess every restaurant has a ?bad day?, but thankfully, I didn?t run into one. My friends and I went during restaurant week, (a first for me, but the third visit for them). I ordered from the ?regular? menu and the food was DELICIOUS!! Everything was cooked to perfection from the Filet Mignon to the asparagus (which I don?t normally eat). The ?Warm Bread Pudding? was heavenly!! Our server ?Sam? was very attentive and friendly and quick!! Even the manager came to our table to ?check on things? ? AND he was sincere. I don?t usually dine in Center City because of the pricey parking, but it was worth it that day. McCormick & Schmick?s have a customer for life!! Pros: EVERYTHING was perfect !!! DEFINTELY thumbs up !! more

Try someplace else 8/19/2008

Accompanied my wife here on a Saturday night; she was with a rather large group (probably 30 people total), which could explain some of the service problems...but the menu was fixed (choice of salad, entree & dessert was limited). The food was terrible.\r I had eaten at the Seattle location of this chain in June, and both the service and food there were forgettable as well. I'll never go in their doors again. Cons: bad food, bad service more

Terrible!!! 3/24/2008

We decided to try their new location in Cherry Hill, NJ recently after only a week of opening. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told to have a drink at the bar and they would come get us in 10 min. The restaurant was crowded and very noisy. There was no place to check coats. You needed to put them behind your seat or on one of the ""hooks"" on the posts at the end of the booths. We had a wonderful waitress (Karen) and if ti weren't for her, we probably would've left. Water and bread took 1/2 hr. to arrive. (Where were the bussers)?? After cocktails, we ordered our meal. For appetizers, we had fried calamari, oysters and steamed cockles. The calamari were OK, oysters were terrible and the cockles were great. We were just finishing our appetizers when someone arrived with our 3 entrees. Not knowing where to put them, he took them back and 2 min. later returned with the food. Our entrees of wild sockeye salmon were very dry and tasteless. The mahi mahi was ok. \r I can excuse bad service after only a week of opening but unsatisfactory food in not accepted. If you must go, make reservatiions. The wait without one was 1 hr- 1 1/2 hr. \r I would NOT return!!! Pros: Karen our waitress , parking Cons: Everything else more

Good seafood with great service. 3/6/2008

I've been to this restaurant on three occassions now; twice with a group of 12 or more from work, and once with my wife for her birthday. I gave the restaurant three stars only because when I ate there on the two occassions with the group, my food was excellent and was well seasoned. When I ate their with my wife, my salmon was small and unseasoned. To be more specific, I ordered to salmon with raspberry sauce the first time I went with the group and it was perfect. The second time I ordered tilapia with Jamaican rum butter and that was great. The third time with my wife, I ordered the salmon and I think they ran out of the raspberry sauce as they were cooking my salmon because there was hardly any sauce on there.\r \r Other than that one experience, the food is good, the desserts are great if you're in to sweets, the drinks are very tasty, and the service is one of the best I've experienced. In addition, if you plan to bring someone there for their birthday, they will actually print ""Happy Birthday (insert person's name)"" on the menu. When my wife realized that, she absolutely loved it. Its a small gesture, but its something that is really appreciated. If you plan to bring a significant other, make a reservation and ask for a booth. It makes your dining experience more romantic. Pros: One of the best seafood restaurants in Center City Philadelphia Cons: If you drive, paying for parking is your only option more

Excellent 5/28/2007

My wife and I almost decided on another restaurant by reading the negative reviews. We are so glad we ignored the negative and went with the positive reviews. The place is fantastic! Our waiter Skipper was the best waiter I have ever had in 4 decades of dining. The seafood and wine were excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Food, service more

Good food, bad service 2/18/2007

The service at this restaurant was unbelievably bad. First, the restaurant made our reservation for the wrong day (My husband made the reservation for our anniversaty/v-day and was SURE of when he made it) Then, the people in line behind us said that they had their reservation for the wrong time! then when we ate and my food came, it was the wrong dish and there was no waitress or manager in sight. we had to wait to ask a random person who worked there to find our waitress. I was so annoyed. I will never pay $100 for a meal like that with that service. will never go back there. Pros: food, view Cons: service more

Just OK. 2/14/2007

Food was just Ok. Service was a little slow. Go down a block and eat at the Capital Grille...Now you are talking!! more

Reliable, Cavernous 11/20/2006

went for lunch with my significant other and my parents. the decor was safe and reliable - nice with lots of mahogany and only a few subtle marine inspired elements, but cavernous. a little overwhelming large for a personal, not business lunch. also, seemed a little empty for lunch at 1:45. $15-20 entrees for lunch, but huge portions. fresh fish from interesting locales. my sole was a little boring (but sole is a little boring). seafood stirfry off the regular menu was good (HUGE portions). seems like it would be better for a business lunch or a meeting of collegues. most of the people at lunch seemed to be in their 30s, 40s, but not fancy business types, just normal business types. we were seated near a ""loud talker"" - i know a little two much about all of her friends, their situations, how much their making, and whether or not they were attending the upcoming harvard football game. \r \r HOWEVER, i got a look at their happy hour menu - $2 oysters and $2 burgers! super cheap and the drinks seemed to have a deal associated with it too. worth looking into. \r Pros: fresh seafood, reliable Cons: cavernous, business types more

Great steak and seafood! 11/15/2006

Recently had the opportunity to take clients to McCormick & Schmick's. I'm not really one for the power suit/seen and be seen world so I was expecting to be disappointed. In truth we ended up having a very good time. I know it is known for its seafood but we all seemed to be in a steak mood and we all enjoyed our entrees. The meat was cooked perfectly, the service was friendly and quick, and the beers were cold.\r \r Overall, a really enjoyable experience. Pros: Great steaks and seafood; friendly service Cons: A bit pricey and noisy. more

Unprofessional Staff, Unpleasant experience 11/9/2006

My husband and I walked in one night looking for a table and as we waited to get seated, one of the waiters passed me stating ""Nice Legs!"". I was mortified, and so were other patrons waiting to get seated. Luckily my husband was in the rest room, or the waiter would have found himself on the floor.\r The hostess was incompetent and even though there were plenty of empty tables, she could not find one that a waiter could tend to. We walked out, and will never come back. Cons: Bad service more

The Food Made Me Sick 8/17/2006

This was the 2nd time I dined at M&S. We were there with 12 people. My sister and I both had the same dish. Later that night we both became violently ill from the food. No one else got sick but us. I was in the bathroom for hours that night. The next day I emailed them to let them know about our illness. I never heard anything back from them. I will probably never go back there. Plus their restrooms were horrible. The bathroom stall doors didnt close and there was never any toliet paper. Pros: Good Food. Cons: The restrooms more

Top notch seafood and service 7/9/2006

Though it was my first time dining at M&S, my expectations were high. Friends have raved about this place for years. M&S surpassed by expectations above and beyond. We had a wonderful assortment of appetizers, the oysters, I believe to be the best the city has to offer. The lobster was incredible---fresh and delicious. Service was wonderful, the wine list exceptional, and the scene was lively and exciting. With a view of City Hall and Broad Street, my afternoon at M&S could not have been more perfect. Pros: Oysters, Lobster, Wine List more
