Best

The ride was very good and well put together. Whoever does this must dedicate most if not all their time to doing this. Every year I go, it seems there is always something new to ...

Worst

I wouldn't wait in line for this hayride because it is soooooo pathetic.

Best Farm & Homemade Ice Cream EVER! 6/9/2009

After bringing bus loads of seniors and children to McCrays - all have loved it. We were enjoyably educated and entertained! Hint: Place your ice cream order before traveling there and they will have it ready for you on arrival - a real time saver when you have 50 people. It is fun to watch the animals be fed, all were healthy, and seemed well cared for. I found these people gave great service to my groups, but also to their animals, and others around us. We played mini golf and soaked in a pleasant relaxing afternoon there. We all felt lucky to see a real working farm, as we have no more in our area. Our farms have all been taken over by commercial operations, and I think McCrays was one of the best farms I have ever seen past or present. I give you folks a lot of credit for all the hard work you do, and know that we who travel to see you appreciate all you do! Hang in there and keep up the terrific work! more

McCray's, a great family escape 3/6/2009

McCray's farm & Creamery is a fun place to bring young ones for a beautiful round of mini golf, the scenery around the course is undeniably gorgeous especially in fall! We have been driving there for a few years now and enjoy a delicious home-made ice cream cone after our truly challenging round of mini golf! We would encourage anyone to enjoy an afternoon there any season, and feeding the animals is just a bonus! This family of farmers is truly passionate about their family run business and we appreciate all of their hard work in all that they do to modify and improve on it every year. Heidi T. & family more

to all those people who complain about it being dirty or whatever they might think, have you forgotten your on a farm? seriously, ive never been to a clean farm in my life, also, how can they help it when all the other people are throwing their trash on the ground, there were a ton of trash barrels but people dont use them, they are to lazy. And as for the price, its fair, there are a lot of people working and they need to get paid and the tractors have to get filled with diesel fuel some how and that isnt cheep. And for those people who wish they wagons would have hay, well hay is not cheep, and when it gets wet then it stays wet and people complain about their buts getting wet so that why they went to wooden boards, so people would have a steady seat and wouldnt get a wet but. Finaly in their defense, yea the ride is good could be better, however when you tell people to do one thing at a scene and they do another then there isnt much they can do. so i think everyone should just lay off their case. they are trying their best. if u think u can propose a better idea for the hayride then feel free to let me know and ill let them know at the farm. If you have an idea feel free to email me at Urbanski_A@yahoo.com more

Incredible!!!!! 1/19/2009

Wow, I love the level of immaturity you people serisouly have, I'm almost embarrassed about that last review about the "animal abuse". Now don't get to alarmed as I bring you back to this thing we call reality! First off, tens of thousands of dollars for the haunted hayride? HA, wow thatd be a dream come true, then maybe they would hire professional actors for the haunted hayride instead of kids from college, hmm ya think so?? Oh, and the McCrays rent out the land, and a guy named Dan Augusto does the hayrides! ITS NOT THE MCCRAYS, however its on their land, and McCray has become a household name, therefore they call it McCray's Haunted Hayride/Scream Park. However the money that McCrays do profit from the hayride goes to thousands of dollars in bill, AND PAYROLL. They just barely have any profit after paying off all that to actually do anything with it. And that mini golf was built for spending money to renovate the farm, but it hasn't gotten enough business yet to do so! As the animals go... they're fed twice a day thanks, if you havent noticed most of them have a little extra lovin' and none... may i repeat NONE of the animals are "decaying" or sick and dying, youd have to be a fool to think that! As for the shelter goes, yes, so they aren't living in 5 star hotels, but the McCrays have been renovating the shelter over the past few years, and it only keeps getting better! So for all of you that think McCray's is abusing it's animals, PLEASE protest!! Because OBVIOUSLY this family of FARMERS (who are just millionaires off of a farmers pay) made this farm simply to abuse animals, and not for people to come and enjoy themselves, and not to educate the little ones in the prime of their lives, but so that they can grow up and protest against the little farm that they once enjoyed soooo much! more

McCrays haunted suckyness 10/17/2008

I recently went on the haunted hay ride oct 17. I waited 2and a half hours in 38* weather freezing chills down to my bones. The characters sucked beyond recognition i was not scared one bit, one sat and flirted with my sister. the ride was horrible and far from worth the money. the ending is not worth the walk through u might as well just walk away and go home. the machanical things were rediculous especially one stop when it was just a dinosaurs head. real bad cover up work so my advise is dont go to it!!! more

haunted hayride 10/2/2008

I went to the hayride last year and was disapointed. It's true what the others say. Too many chainsaws and the ride itself is not scary at all it is so predictable. I wish they could go back to when it all started. Back then the wagons actually had bails of hay in them and you could sit on the hay and the route was unpredictable and way better. Now, you hop on the wagon and sit in a cold uncomfortable board. Not fun at all and every attraction is kind of out in the open. Will not recommend or go back. more

Haunted Hayride is Creepy but McCray's is Creepier! 10/31/2007

Visited McCray's a few weeks back with my family. We have heard so many good things about the Haunted Hayride that we stopped on our way home one night. We paid $105 for tickets and waited eagerly in line. While waiting we decided to get a snack. The ice-cream cafe was so dirty and in disarray that we walked out and headed over to the 'grille.' They were serving burgers/dogs, chips and some beverages and lots of candy. The hot cocoa was watered down and tasteless and the cleanliness of the entire place was poor. I asked to use the bathroom but was told it was locked because they ran out of toilet paper. I said that I had just paid over $100 and need to use a bathroom. I got my own tissue from the car and she opened the door. After waiting for about an hour or so we boarded the hay wagon for our haunted excursion. The kids enjoyed it although they all agreed there were too many chainsaws - very loud and smelly. Several visitors were drinking alcohol but the staff made sure they took it away and communicated the rules very clearly. Overall, the ride was fun although way overpriced, the grounds were filthy and the food was poor. I will not visit again and have discouraged others from paying the high price for the haunted hayride. McCray's has an amazing opportunity to offer a great amusement but they fall short on cleanliness and quality. more

Use much Caution when booking a halloween party at McCrays! 10/29/2007

I recently wrote a postiive review on McCrays. I've been taking my daycare there for years. You can imagine my surprise at the experience we had this weekend with our Halloween party. In June, a friend booked a party date with the farm for Oct.28,2007. The time slots were all open so we chose 3-5. We booked a hayride to the pumpkin patch, a meal for 30 children and food cones to feed the animals. We also paid a small fee of $25.00 to rent the party room for our group of 30 children and 24 adults. I called and confirmed our date and time and to give a final count of people attending one week in advance. I was told by an employee that everything was all set and we could arrive early to decorate the room. Upon arrival to decorate, we learned that the employees not only double booked the party room, but triple booked the room for our time! When we spoke to an employee about our party, we had to wait 20 minutes to be waited on, then she was very sarcastic and rude. After asking for a manager, she decided to treat us a little better. We then tried to work out a solution with the owner. He offered to put picnic tables outside, but it was cold and windy. He also offered us the use of their old sugar house which was cold, smelled like manure and very dirty. It was also used for storage and there was not enough room for a party of 50+ people! The owner did refund our $25.00 room rental but we were still in a bind for our group function. The owner had to ask one party to leave early, one party to move outside and the other party to take their hayride early so we could set up for our party. Our group arrived at 3:00. They had to stand outside in the cold because there was no room to stand inside and wait 30 min. for a wagon to take them to the pumpkin patch! The wagon we booked was not ready and they had to attach two wagons together to fit our group that took another 15 minutes. While this was going on, the other party was finishing up and we had to sweep the filthy floors, wipe down the 4 Yes I said 4 picnic tables and decorate before the group returned. We were literally putting table cloths on the tables as our group walked in from the hayride. Keep in mind, the floors were down right disgusting! There was stuck on food everywhere, the tables were filthy, and the counter space was also dirty. We had to ask employees for brooms, dishrags and trashbags so WE could clean up! The food was not ready for us as requested; When they finally brought it out, the hot dogs were stacked on a platter and we had to plate them up ourselves. There were flies all over the food, and we had to go to the freezers to get our drinks ourselves also. Overall, the children had a great time. I wanted to write this because I have always been a fan of McCray's farm. Honestly, they tried to work with us, but there is not much you can do with three parties booked for one room of 4 tables and the creamery is staffed with young teenagers. I wanted to give my experience so you wouldn't make the same mistake we did. When going by yourself for a hayride, the experience is great, but for a party-NO WAY!! more

Animal neglect abounds at the once flourishing farm 10/18/2007

As a child I loved this place. As an adult I am outraged. The animals who loured us there now bide their time waiting for someone to save them. The owners are now too busy counting the money from the miniature golf course, the ever expanding haunted hayride, the creamery, and anything else they can make money off of. With tens of thousands made in October from the hayride, you'd think they would call a vet in to treat the animals or build some better shelter for them. I swear one of the goats has a tumor and the calf was emaciated. It's as though they rely solely on the public to feed the animals. The poor alpaca or llama has almost no space to live his life. Please protest this place until they improve the care and conditions of what used to be the main attraction at this farm, the animals. With the time, planning, and money that goes into their other ventures, there is NO excuse. Thank you. more

McCray's Farm is a great field trip for preschools and daycares 6/10/2007

I've been visiting McCray's farm with my daycare for years! I drive all the way from Westfield and it is worth the ride! Not only do they have fantastic ice cream, the kids love the animals! I love the fact that the area is pretty much enclosed so the kids stay together and there is a restroom to wash hands and they offer picnic tables outside you can bring a lunch or purchase one from them! Definitely check it out! more

Great ice cream and more 10/9/2005

McCray's Farm is part of a creamery, and their small restaurant serves homemade fresh ice cream, sandwiches, etc. On site there is a min-golf and a small petting zoo. The zoo is free and has a variety of farm and exotic animals. There is plenty of parking and the owners/staff are very friendly. The ice cream is great, and once in a while you can even take a hayride. A great place to take your kids. more

A Halloween Hay Haunted Hay Ride that can't be beat 9/9/2005

McCray's farm offers a truly unique haunted hay ride that can't be beat. During the Halloween season, lines wrap around their farm, while eager children and adults alike await a great scary haunted hay ride through the hills and fields of McCray's Farm. This ride isn't just for kids, adults have been known to scream even louder than their younger counterparts. While the wait can be a bit long during their peak time, they offer scary surprises while you wait in line, or pickup a soda or warm drink from their food area to sip on while you wait...But above all, it is well worth the wait! more
