I was arrested for domestic violence charges under section 273.5 and section 243.e.1. After spending nearly 72 hours in jail, I walked out of the LA county jail, I was totally perplexed and didn?t know what to do. I hired a lawyer who had an office next to the county jail and wanted to prove my innocence immediately. This lawyer promised me that he would get the charges dismissed immediately. However, on the date of pre-trial instead of forcing for a speedy trial, he bought more time (and without telling me that he is going to get more time). On the same day, by god?s grace I found Matthew Ruff. I told him what had happened, and then I hired him immediately. He took me to the Torrance court and filed papers for change of attorney, and also requested the court for a speedy trial instead of buying time as sought by my previous attorney.
