Too Cool 5/9/2006

Modern interior. Cool design, especially the fireplace. The burgers were great (except for the grit). The waitresses are foced to where uniforms that make them look like Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu. They also where backless healed sandels - not exactly practical when carrying trays of martini's. We watched several of them tentatively deliver drinks, all the while with a smile on their face. A Good Match! 4/16/2006

I was definitely impressed by this restaurant. I loved the atmosphere, very sheek and fun. The service was good, although at times we thought the server smiled a bit too much. The food was excellent! Appealing in appearance and excellent in taste. I loved the mini burgers. We ordered the marguerita pizza and mussels for appetizers, both were delicious. The fries and onion rings we had with our mini burgers were very good too. I highly recommend this place. Fun for big groups or a girls night out! Tasty Snacks, Strange Service 4/2/2006

Not sure how they assign tables to servers here, everyone seemed to be working the same table. So we got hit with a lot of repeat questions. The funny thing is, even with four servers helping us, once we got our food nobody had the sense to get us silver or napkins. Exception (Jen) was great. The burgers are tasty but at the same time a good scam, you need three of them to equal a real burger, so at $5 each, plus another $6 for fries or rings, it's a sneaky way to charge $20+ for a burger. Martinis are $10, small and warm. They are cashing in on the Martini craze, stick to beer. It's a trendy place, so enjoy it while it's there. Fantastic new spot! 2/28/2006

Went to Match last night with a group of friends, again for the fourth time in the past two months... and am addicted to the place! I love the concept of the mini-burgers! We all had a sort of burger sampler with a bunch of different sides and loved everything. Whomever came up with this idea is certainly ahead of the pack! The decor in there is spectacular and the ambience is particularly appealing for Boston. It can get a little crazy in the bar area on weekends, but from the vantage point of the lounge area where they let us after dinner to drink and just hang out, the place is by far the best lounge in Boston. Perfect match 2/13/2006

I have been to Match twice now. Have loved it both times. The first I went with a group of girls, and sat in the bar area for drinks and some food. The bar was so crowded our poor waitress could hardly wiggle her way through. My date and I waited (about 45 minutes...) for a table in the dining room last night, and we were glad we did. Service was fantastic, and our food even better. We shared a couple of appetizers followed by some burgers. I am hooked on the lamb and the tuna burgers!! Nothing like them anywhere I've ever been! We probably had one two many martinis, but they go down like water. I recommend the Pop rocks martini. It's an adventure for the mouth! Mixed bag 2/7/2006

Although the place is really, really cute (A for Ambience); the service was extremely slow and spotty. I went on a Wednesday night and had a hard time getting a waitress to take our order, though once the order was place the food was ready quickly and pretty good. We were going to order dessert but couldn't get the waitress to come back and by the time she did we decided to get the bill. I wish the service wasn't so bad, because then i would have returned. Classy and Stylish 1/26/2006

I'm new to Boston and recently went to Match. I loved it!! The decor is beautiful and stylish. I thought it was a really classy place. It has New York feel to it. The crowd was pretty good. There's a mix of all ages. The food was very good and it's presentation was very professional. This is one of my favorite places in Boston. Best martini menu in boston 1/10/2006

I took a date to Match last Saturday night. The service was great and the food excellent. The tuna burger was great and they had the best onion rings I've ever had in my life. Be careful though, my date and I didn't get entrees - we ordered burgers and sides all night (they were soooo good) and ended up spending like 60 just on food. The martini menu is great and very chick friendly, it's actually one of the only places a guy like me can look cool with a pretty pink martini. Stylish and Relaxed Back Bay Lounge 12/29/2005

Match is stylish and laid-back, with a uniquely fire-lit dining room and upbeat lounge music. It's a perfect crossover place - for after work drinks, a romantic dinner, dinner for a big group of friends, or late night weekend partying. The crowd is great-looking and approachable, the hostesses and bartenders are knockouts, and the miniburgers are senstational. It's the only bar in the Back Bay I've found so far that combines such great music, ambiance, and food. So, it's both a perfect neighborhood hangout and destination restaurant. more

The new place to be seen in Back Bay... 12/29/2005

I have been to Match quite a few times since it's grand opening and I must say that the food and service is always exceptional. One of my personal favorites would have to be the mushroom pizza. An Enjoyable Place 12/9/2005

I had my family in town this week and decided to go over to Match. I walked in with my parents for a couple of drinks and there was Kevin Youkilis, Adam Stern and Craig Hanson of the Red Sox sitting down. Wow, what a treat for my parents to see. Big Red Sox fans!! My family and I got a couple of drinks at the bar and had an excellent time chatting away in a cool athmosphere. As we finished our drinks we asked the manager if he thought it would be ok to ask for their autographs for my parents. He walked us right over and introduced us to the players. What a great gesture from the manager! We got the autographs and went home. I will deff be back and can't wait to try the mini-burgers! An enjoyable and attractive staff!! Great Spot 11/28/2005

I have been to Match several times since it opened back in October. This place is perfect! The bar is hopping I have even spotted a few of famed sports celebs sipping on martinis. Warm atmosphere to hang out with friends after work, or on a Saturday night. On all visits to Match the hostess came over to check on me and my paty (talk about service). The music is music we all know and love to sing to. But the best part about Match are the perfect little burgers that come in all different varieties. Those munchies you get when drinking cocktail after cocktail are soothed but the ""perfect size burger"". Not just your regular old burger either...chicken burger, lobster burger, even lamb burgers. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. more

LOVED IT 11/26/2005

After reading some of these reviews I was apprehensive about Match, but I went there Saturday night with my boyfriend and had an absolutely fabulous time. Our server was extremely personable and prompt, the ambiance was unpretentiously hip/fun, and the food was delicious. My boyfriend, a steak fanatic, had the filet and said it was one of the best he had ever tasted. I had the tuna and chicken mini burgers, both also great. Our waitress suggested the mango schizzle martini and she was right on, we both ordered two. Overall, a great experience and a high point of my week. I highly recommend Match and despite some of these reviews, you should definitely check it out for yourself. Back Bay's Jewel 11/26/2005

Last night I went over to Match for the first time. I've been lving in the Back Bay area for a couple of years and this area has been missing a nice, laid back trendy place like Match. My wife and I had the calamari and tomato cucumber salad to start off. Both dishes were excellent. Our male waiter suggested to us to get a couple of the mini-burgers. We got the lobster burger, lamb, sausage and the classic american burger. They came out out and my wife thought they were so cute and boy.. were they tasty! We capped off the night with a cookie dough and that just blew my wife and I away! The night was perfect. The service was great and the athmosphere was unbelievable. Match is a great addition to the Back Bay and we'll be returning back for seconds of those mini-burgers!!!! Pros: Service, Fireplace, Mini-burgers Cons: Didn't have any cons! more

Growing pains... 11/25/2005

Went there on a Thursday night, sat at the bar, the service was mediocre. Most of the time one of bartenders was idally standing about adjusting her straps (hint...there is a reason you are requred to wear those revealing dresses). Expect svc to improve over time. Ordered 2 pricey, yet tasty apps...the shrimp skewer/mini pizza. Note: the ""White Castle"" burger is way to pricey for a lone app. Great decor, hip atsmosphere, decent crowd the ambiance was nice until about 30 euro BU students stormed in (need to manage that better...not to mention music, blah!). Recommend it...up until 9pm. Pros: Bartenders dresses, decor, location Cons: bark service, pricey apps, after 9 crowd more

hot spot 11/22/2005

i went to match last friday night to see for myself what my friends have been talking about. I loved the menu at the old blue cat and was a little worried match wouldnt hold up to its dining standards. What i found was an excelent menu and a great time. I went for dinner and ended up staying all night. The bar was crowded but i didnt have to wait long for my drinks. the filet i had was great and a good price as well. overall the service was good and the food and drinks were even better. MATCH did not light my fire... 11/20/2005

Went to Match last night with two of my girlfriends and we were very disappointed. We all got two rounds of martinis which were pretty good. The waitress snubbed us and seemed to be irritated though that we weren't leaving before our drinks were finished. Also, since the restaurant prides itself on its mini-burgers, you would think they would be top notch, however mcdonald's serves far better burgers. They were flavorless, dry and overcooked. The french fries weren't half bad but how hard it is to screw up frying a potato. I will say that the margarita pizza appetizer was tasty-though the crust tasted burnt. The astmosphere was trendy, but the waitstaff seemed to ruin it with their large egos and small brains. So, if you want to get poor service, half decent food, and feel trendy-go to Match... Sorry For the Delay I am Leaving 11/9/2005

Those were the first words from our waitresses mouth. ""I'm sorry for the delay, but I am leaving and am just waiting for the next server to come in."" It was a wed night and seemed pretty happening. We sat at a booth near the bar, and then we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. After our waitress told us about her schedule, she did take our order, but forgot it and had to come back to ask us again what we wanted to drink. Then two other servers asked us if we had been served yet. By the end of one drink we were ready to get out of there. It took a while to get our check, and we couldn't run fast enough to get to the door. The decor and atmosphere is cool and exciting, but the service just is aweful. more

Weekend nights Vs. Slower nights 11/7/2005

Match is a nice addition to the back bay. This is a very hip place to hang out on Friday/Saturday nights. The staff is attentitive and friendly. Last night was my second Sunday there, and the atmosphere would have been alot better if Match had enough staff. The poor girl who was bartending had to run around like crazy to take care of all the customers at the bar as well as each of the tables in the bar area and make drinks for the servers in the dining area. My friends and I never waited long to be served, but our service would have been better if the bartender could have stayed behind the bar instead of taking tables. Isn't that what a waitstaff is for? Note to management: people who go out in backbay expect attentitive service, schedule enough staff so your customers can get just that! Pros: Food , Wine, Atmosphere Cons: Understaffed more

Fun girls night out 11/3/2005

I went with a couple of friends last night and had a great time. On a Thursday night at 6:30, we got seated right away at a booth by the bar which was perfect. The menu had fun martinis and we dabbled in the mini-cheeseburgers. I recommend getting 2 because after we each ordered just one, we were still hungry. Fries were great too! The waitress was nice and helpful, but she did good one martini but no problem, she went and fixed it right away. Overall, slow service but a fun girls night out!
