Best

Mas Sake has excellent food. The guacamole is super tasty and the fish is very, very fresh. Even though the place is pretty hip-loud music, pretty waitresses with a dark, cool atm...

Worst

me and my friend went here on a saturday night and we didn't have reservations because they only take reservations for parties of five or more and the place was completely packed ...

Worst Service and Food Ever 1/23/2005

I had the worst experience ever at Masake with my friends last weekend. We went to""all you can eat"" sushi night only to experience a nasty waitress explaining the rules! When the food came out it did not look good so I didn't even try one piece. However even if you do not eat one single piece of sushi you are charged. Beyond that the waitress served another table beer from the bar after we asked her numerous times for water prior to the other table. The unfortunate thing is that we are nice, loyal customers to any restaurant we go to but because of the food and the rude service we will never step foot into Masake again - Don't waste your money there. Cons: , Disgusting food, crowded more

Disappointing! 1/18/2005

I was visiting from Chicago last weekend and decided to go to Mas Sake's with a group of friends on Sunday evening. I eat out A LOT, and I can say in all my dining out experiences in Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area, I have never experienced such unbelievably poor service. Our waitress was extremely unprofessional and should be embarrassed in the way she represented the restaurant as a whole. The food and ambience was average, but unfortunately her personality and behavior overshadowed the whole experience. I wouldn't be surprised if she submitted the review stating that clients are envious of the attractive waitresses. That's almost comical....one's exterior can't make-up for what's obviously lacking on the inside! Cons: , inattentive, unprofessional more

Great start to any night 1/3/2005

I would highly recommend a visit to Mas Sake on any Friday or Saturday night. The waitresses are required to be gorgeous to work there, the clientele usually rivals the waitresses, and the food is actually really good. It's the type of place that is full of fun, young people, and it is perfectly acceptable to turn around and start chatting with the table next to you. A dinner at Mas Sake followed by the Marina bars is always a great time. Pros: Good looking crowd, Tasty specialty rolls, Fun atmosphere more

Don't waste your money here 4/26/2004

Unless you like places with less than mediocre food where it's so loud that you have to literally scream to be heard, I would not recommend this place. While the scene is definitely lively, you can get better sushi at the 7-11! Furthermore, the service is horrible. Pros: lively atmosphere Cons: , appalling service, loud more

Stay Away!!! 4/4/2004

This place was so bad it angered me. The service was the worst I have had since moving to the city. They didn't give us a table big enough for our party (we had reservations). When we asked for a bigger table the short, angry manger told us, ""Don't you tell me how to run my restaurant"". The amibience is OK if you are overly concerned abut being cool, but the food tasted like rubber and took forever to come. There are so many fun, great places in SF don't waste your time here. Pros: Leaving Cons: , Food, Service more

Da Bomb! 8/7/2003

Mas Sake is the best- a place you can go and play any tune you want to hear on the juke box, and always find some fun people to talk to. And the rolls are great! Maybe not Nobu Matsuhisa, but the sushi chef can hold his own for a place that is mostly about the vibe, anyway. Pros: Party atmosphere, Always fun, Living Room feel more

Party Sushi 6/5/2003

Inventive Sushi that was alright. A fun place for Saki bombs and party crowd. Very loud, not a place for a first date on conversation dinner. Servers are cute/hot on purpose. A poor man's version of Newport Beach's California Beach or Manhattan Beach's Rock n Sushi. more

don't go there 1/15/2003

this place was awful. the hostess/waitreses were rude and knew nothing about sushi or sake. they paid no attention to us. the food was awful. the fish wasn't fresh and the rice was undercooked. how hard is it to make sushi? at best, this place is ok to go for a drink. otherwise, don't even bother. more

LOUD & YAPPI 10/3/2002

It was loud, it took them forever to seat us (we had a large group of 15 and it was difficult to hear a person next to you.) Suchi was not that good - and their bar only serves beer & wine (limited choice too!) more

Go for drinks 9/4/2002

Cool atmosphere, good drinks, okay sushi, pretty waitresses...but unfortunately brains don't always go with beauty... Pros: hot girls=hot guys, good sake drinks Cons: order slowly, okay sushi more

Bad Food, Fun Times 6/30/2002

Still a party and occasionally ok for large groups. The sushi however is terrible. Any sushi restaurant that doesnt have a sushi bar has a hard time finding top notch chefs that know their fish. This is exactly the problem for Mas Sake. more

Yummy! 6/10/2002

This little restaurant's ambiance and character seem to make it what it is. Reservations recommended always~no matter what day of the week it is. The sushi was flavorful and tastey! Service is alright, could have a little more class - seemed kind of young. But still, a very great experience, I would eat there again easily! Prices are high. more

Very Cool 6/6/2002

I had dinner a Thursday (around 6:30) and had great service and really good food. The vibe was super...very cool ambiance and music. If you haven't been I would definately go to check it out. Pros: ambiance more

WORST SERVICE & SUSHI EVER 5/27/2002

I can not believe they call themselves a sushi resturant. 2 hour wait not at all worth it. The sushi is not fresh. I question sushi resturants that make sushi in the kitchen hidden from customers. I would never ever go back. If you want good sushi go two doors down Marina Sushi. more
