Marlene's Market & Deli

The Gluten free veggie pizza is absolutely delicious. It usually has a wonderful bread like crust. This Friday however, the crust was so chewy and flat that I couldn't cut it with a fork. I am not sure what happened but I so hope that next Friday the crust will be back to normal. It is the best gluten free pizza I have ever had and I have been eating gluten free for over 30 years. I did tell one of the deli workers and hopefully she passed it on to whoever made the pizza crust that day. Please don't change the crust recipe! more

You say "quality" I say "Marlene's!!!" All the work is done for me. They only carry the best of the best, and the staff really tries to get all of your questions answered. I shop here as frequently as I can and I've never left without a fistful of copies and flyers about health disorders and natural alternatives. Now there's an organic salad bar. Can you say 'HEAVEN'???? I need 6 more hours in a day so I can just spend it wandering around and looking at all of the amazing stuff. more

Make sure you call to confirm any special orders from the bakery! I ordered a vegan cake for a bridal shower and paid in advance. However, when I called to see if it was ready the day of the event, they claimed to have no cake *and* no record of the order! Even though I paid! Terribly frustrating. They were able to make a cake right away and I picked it up late. The cake was delicious though. I'm not a vegan but thought it was probably one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. more

No one has better mercantile items than Marlene's and at very reasonable prices. I can find the most irresistable and unique gift items there - items to please the most difficult to shop for people on my Christmas list. Their staff is extremely helpful and always friendly. The store has a welcoming feel to it and the produce is wonderful. I do not find any of their products overpriced. If you shop the sales, they are competitive with any store out there! more

What a gem. I go to Marlene's when I know I need to find items that I can usually only get by driving all the way up to Seattle or on the internet. They have Goji Berries (YUM!). I get my laundry and cleaning items here if Fred Meyer is out. They are a little more expensive here. They have lots of good supplements too, but I choose to buy those at Super Supplements because Marlene's is really marked up on price. The produce selection is fantastic - can't be beat for organics in Tacoma. Their deli is delicious and the size of the store is perfect. I love the little unique items, like Chinese talismans, feng shui products, and great book selection. I'm not giving them a 5 star rating because some of their items are WAY overpriced. more

Marlene's has a fantastic selection of herbal and vitamin supplements, as well as organic, vegetarian, vegan, and other foods. There are also unique, hard-to-find gift items, such as Tibetan and Buddhist items, as well as some Native and earth-based items as well. A large collection of books can be found as well. Even makeup and toothpaste! On the far side of the store can be found a small area where a massage therapist can assist you too! The people who work at Marlene's are great, and know a great deal about a wide variety of items in the store! Definitely a favorite stop of mine. more
