Marine Warehouse Aquarium

It's a pretty good fish store. Certainly not the biggest by real estate size (there is a bigger fish store further down on Hillsborough) but it may be the biggest when it comes to selection of fish. Customer service is not bad at all. Sometimes you have to wait to talk to a specialist but I think that's because this place is so popular. I guess for the same reason quite often the fish you really want is often sold out by the time you get there on Saturday. You also need to figure out who is the #1 expert if you have a really complex question, otherwise you may get incorrect answer. I definitely recommend this store, especially if you are picky like me and need at least half a dozen fish to choose from to get that perfect size and color you always wanted. Ways to improve? IMHO they could do better job with reef safe wrasses - store like that should have a better selection. more

I have purchased fish and supplies and three tanks here. I have never had a problem. I have found the staff very knowledgable and frendly. Have fun here. more

This is probably the worst store I've ever visited. I can't believe people would even waste their time there. The customer service is horrible, actually closer to non-existent. After waiting 15 minutes for some help, I asked what looked like the manager if he could help me buy some fish. He said I was 3 people deep, and my best bet was to wait by the register and hope to grab an employee once they were free. I decided I wasn't going to beg someone to take my money so I walked out and will never return. A total wasted trip. Selection and size of store wasn't even that great, I've seen much better. more

Big place, everything you need for freshwater, saltwater aquaria....if you can get past the sullen, unhappy vibe from MOST of the people there (not all-- maybe 1 out of the 4 employees there seemed happy to help). Inquired about the price of an aquarium ornament (a piece of rock) which the manager had to weigh to price out (way pricey BTW) and when I said I wasn't going to purchase it, tells my companion---"here, put it back where it belongs will ya?" -- which ordinarily I wouldn't give it any thought...but in this case, not only did we not get help when we needed it initially, but we were ORDERED to do something for them when we did! And he had 3 employees behind him that weren't doing anything at that time! Not very customer service oriented attitude. Plus when I asked if I could have some water in the bag for the aquatic plant that I bought because I had a long ways to drive back, manager says--"you won't need it." Water...that was too much to ask for. Tsk tsk. If you can tolerate being treated like you owe them a favor for going to their store and buying from them, then by all means try them out. more

Marine Warehouse is an extremely large fish store. They have a huge section of dry goods as well as live stock. Their dry goods section ranges from tanks and protein skimmers to lights and base rock. They also have a large livestock section. Unfortunately, it is so large that some fish appear to suffer. Less livestock is easier to take care of. This applies to fresh and saltwater fish. Their coral selection is great and seems to have pretty decent prices. more
