My heart sank when I saw that Mar y Sol had shut down. But Delana Veirs is still doing her magic, SHE HAS BEEN VOTED BEST STYLIST IN ALBUQUERQUE 10 YEARS IN A ROW and has been doing hair for 20 years! And her rates are so reasonable they will make your jaw drop. She has relocated at a really fun salon over by the Coronado shopping center. I don't trust anyone else anywhere near my hair now. She manages to make my super thin hair look super thick- with this architectural layering that I haven't been able to find ANYWHERE else. My favorite thing about her cuts is that they hold their shape for weeks, I can look in the mirror 2 months down the line and see a fresh cut WITHOUT ANY PRODUCTS OR STYLING. I strongly recommend her. She also happens to be one of the nicest people I know, I always feel so comfortable in her chair. I had grown my hair long for over ten years. Delana really friendly, gently ushered me to where I wanted to go, great haircut and style. I've been getting so many compliments for my hair, The cut does last a while; the mark of a good cut and it looks good with even minimal fuss on my part every day. I highly recommend her.\r The staff is really friendly and down to earth. \r I also really like the products offered, never felt pressured to buy the products from them even though it is good stuff . I combine some of these, [more pricey]salon products with shampoo I buy at the grocery store.\r Delana really takes her time talking with me about my goals and wishes and I've never felt that she just does what she wants. I feel she rerally has the ability to translate what I tell her into a flattering style for my face. more

Delana does the most natural looking highlights I have ever had, and my roots never looked less like roots than they do now. Its easy to see how she has been voted the best Albuquerque Stylist. I am so grateful that she had my number and was able to let me know where she had moved to! more

Poor customer service and a bad haircut. Responded to rave reviews about Delena--did not have a good experience--pressured to buy products--now working with hair at home, very poor cut--shorter on one side than the other and very choppy layers--will take a long while to grow out. Very snippy staff person. more

It was time to try someplace new where I could make an appointment on a regular basis, and always get exactly what I wanted. Delana has been in this business for many years, and it shows. I decribed the way I like my hair cut and what I was looking for. I did not know the exact right terminology, yet she gave me EXACTLY the cut I was looking for! Though more expensive than your ""Great Clips"" or other cheap stylist business, you get what you pay for. I feel the prices are in the medium range for high quality results. I have an appointment set up for my next cut, and another for a color. I absolutely can't wait! I highly recommend trying this salon! I've been going to Mar y Sol for a few months now, I originally was going somewhere else but my old stylist moved out of state so I was referred by a friend to see Erika. She said she had been referred to her by someone and she absolutely loved her. Anyway I have to agree, she has been coloring and cutting my hair now for about 5 months and every time I get it done it's exactly how I want it! When I entered this very modern minimalist Salon, which looks nothing like the photo on this site and is a different address, they offered me the best green tea.\r I felt like I was in Europe. I was so happy to get a parking pass to use for free parking in the back parking lot. I enjoyed watching stylist's mixing color as I waited just a few minutes for the Stylist. I saw the owner, who my freind recommended and was so pleased. She Helped me make some changes I had been nervous to make and now feel like I should have done it a long time ago. In the past I've had stylist's say I should never wear bangs or go short and Delaina says that she doesn't beleive any stylist should give a client a complex to change their look and she was right. I was a little afraid to try a new stylist, but my wife had been going there for 3 years and her hair and color\r always looks awesome. I got a haircut with a guy named Lawrence. EVERYONE thinks my hair looks the best it has ever looked. I feel younger and I am turning heads again! My wife love my hair and says I no longer have New Mexico Hair. This dude is the best. After losing my favorite hairstylist to California, I had tried several other places with no luck. I saw that this place had won a ""best hair salon"" in a local weekly, so I thought I'd give it a try. The first time I went in, the guy who cut my hair cut it too short, and pressured me into buying some product. After having had several bad experiences, however, I thought maybe what I needed to do was work with one stylist until I could get them to do what I wanted. So I went back-- 4 more times! It did not matter. I would ask questions like""what do I need to say to you to make sure that I get the results I was hoping for?"" and have him tell me exactly what to say. Every time he would also tell me I absolutely HAD to have some new product and that the last product he sold me was not what I needed. Some of the products were pretty good, but I really did not like the car-salesman like tactics. I finally called it quits when, after I thought we had agreed on blond highlights, he was just about to dye my blond hair brown! I would not recommend this stylist to anyone. I am new to NM and was walking by one day and saw this place. I stopped in and asked the girl at the front desk the cost of a men's hair cut. She replied with $38. I said fine and do you have any appointments on Saturday. She then gave me 3 different time options, so I chose one and said I'll see you Sat. When I arrived I told the guy cutting my hair that I just got out of the shower and had no product on my hair. He insisted on washing it again, fine. He then proceeded to check out my hair and asked what I normally did. I told him and also said that I was NEW to NM and had only been here 3 weeks and just stumbled across this place and thought I would give it a try. He said that he was thinking of razor cutting it- I agreed as I have had this done to my hair many many times. Never did he mention that there was an up-charge for this, and never have been charged more for this type of hair cutting style. He finished and he did do a good job, but when I went to check out the girl said $53 and some change!!! I said WHAT I was told $38. She just said well it says right here in our menu that it is $50 for razor. I told the guy I was new here and did he mention before he started cutting that there was an up-charge for razoring...NO...nor was I told that there was different prices for different stylists. So even if he had cut my hair with scissors it still would have been $40, not the $38 that I had been quoted. $50 for a MEN'S hair cut...that is ridiculous! My wife spends that and I know her hair is a lot more complicated than mine. Not to mention that the girl checking me out had no remorse and didn't seem to care that no one was informing me of any of these costs, that that's what I owed I there was no changing it. I told her that I would never be back and she didn't seem to mind. This seems like a great way to keep customers coming back doesn't it? HA! Don't waste your time or MONEY!!! I just had a haircut at Marysol's for the first timeand it will certainly be my last time. I thought Marysol would be a great place to get a haircut because of the good reviews they were given. The lady who I had an appointment with was very rough with my hair. She wet my shirt while washing my hair and I had to hold my own towel on my hair (dripping) to my seat because their towels are too small for my hair. \r \r She didn't put any detangeling spray on my hair. So as she was combing my hair with her comb, she yanked the comb through my hair till the tangles came out. It was a rough experience and a big headache! Then she didn't style my hair. I know it was a hot day and all but come on..... I just wanted to get out of there so I left with wet hair. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Don't waste your money or time. more
