A beautiful place 9/27/2005

Desconso Gardens is a beautiful place. I attended a wedding there and it was remarkable (tho my entire table dissapeared into the grenery for a 4:20 break). If you do an event there you must use Patina catering which although has good food is very pricey (they are the same people who do all the food for the Music Center and Disney Hall). It is a good place to visit for the day as well and much more affordable. more

Rare Garden Treasure 8/17/2005

You can rent the various parts of the grounds for weddings or other special functions, but the cost is rather pricy for most folks. Instead, enjoy the lush and beautiful surroundings for a mere $7 admission. Highlights to see are the huge camellia forest when in bloom, the bird sanctuary, the rosarium rose garden, and the Boddy House which offers a changing collection of artwork and exhibits. more

  • Overview
This green jewel, nestled in serene La Cañada, is a lush oasis offering a diverse display of nature's finest flora. The main attraction are the two canopied camellia forests. As one of the largest outdoor plantings in the world, these fragrant pavilions are the focus of the annual camellia festival. Also worth a visit is the International Rosarium, which boasts thousands of rose varieties, some dating back to the 12th century.

    The Experience
Marvel on foot, or take the one-hour guided tram tour through the 165-acre expanse. Benches offer tranquil spots to take in the native California plants and pink blossoms of the cherry trees. Have a meal at the Cafe Court; or grab a snack at the Japanese Tea House. After admiring the streams, rockscapes and koi, wander northwest to the Boddy House, where local artists display sculptures and paintings focusing on regional landscapes and animals.
