MS&G did a fine job of installing multiple shades throughout our apartment. Consultation, design and installation went very well, similar to experiences of other Reviewers, so we will back-up the other reviews. Everyone we dealt with was courteous and professional. The shades were all roller shades, operated by pulling a beaded metal cord. One of the cords broke not long after installation. The repair man replaced the cord with a sturdier one and said that the original cord was too flimsy for the weight of the shade. Since we were already paying for a service call we asked for replacement of other cords for our shades of similar weight but he had no extra ones available. More recently the same problem occurred when the cord controlling another shade snapped. The servicemen were courteous and professional. The problem? Each service call cost $175 for a few minutes of work. With tax, we paid close to $400 to repair things that should not have happened in the first place because they were due to installation of the shades with improper materials. I would certainly advocate having MS&G do installations but I would not dream of having them do this unless they wrote a guarantee into their bill that repairs due to their use of faulty materials would be free or cost a modest fee, especially since the original costs were not cheap. more

The team at MS&G were very nice and accomodating! They worked with me every step of the way in achieving beautiful custom curtains for my studio apartment!! they have a wonderful team to help everything go smoothly. their library of fabrics are endless along with design ideas. I used them for every room in my house, and I have a lot of rooms!!! I had done a decorating job off of union square and had MS&G do the window treatments and ceiling mounted shower track.Everything went very smoothly and professionally.Andre ,the installer, was very knowledgable about his craft and very punctual.Unfortunetely for me the contractor had another company do the mirror work which did not turn out well.I would highly recommend MS&G to do ALL of your decorating service needs from curtain/upholstery to your glass/mirror work.One stop shopping works for me. after not needing anything in home furnishings for 10 years, we recently moved to a new apartment and asked MS&G to help us with the minor details of redecorating a rental. Unfortunately I had Manhattan Shade and Glass install my electric skylight shade. I have had no problems with the shade for 11 years. Then it broke. I called, asked for service and the same installer came over to 'fix' the problem. However, all he could do was assess the problem, tell me what was wrong and let me know that he would have the company order the parts and contact me to do the actual service. No word from the company for over a week. I call another company and they tell me they can't fix another company's installation. So I call MS&G and they tell me that I need to make a downpayment for the parts to be ordered and the service to be scheduled. So I do, and wonder why didn't they call me to get the ball rolling in the first place. 1 month passes and nothing. I call again. No parts yet, but we'll call you when they come in to schedule the service. Another month passes and I get an email asking if we can schedule the service in 8 days. The date doesn't work for me, but of course, they have no other dates available. Their service SUCKS. Pros: Good products Cons: Bad/TERRIBLE service more

We had the good fortune of having Manhattan Shade and Glass aid in decorating the addition we had built on to our house....from the start we knew our selection of MS&G was the correct choice for us. The showroom staff spent countless hours helping us choose, from a vast array, our fabrics and design incorporating our suggestions and needs to the final selections. Customer service personnel couldn't have been more efficient and truly exceeded our expectations....a great deal of credit goes to Mitchell Schulman and the installation department as everything had been measured to a T and the installers were sheer perfection...I would not hesitate to recommend this company to those who seek complete satisfaction. As a design professional, I have worked with Manhattan Shade & Glass on at least 4 different projects and have had very good experiences with them. The projects have included back-painted glass backsplashes and table tops, UV film for windows, and a great number of window treatments. They're generous with samples; their paperwork is good; their advice is beneficial; and their installers are excellent. And most significantly, my clients have also been very pleased with both their products and services. I've just never had any problems with them. more

I work in a busy design firm with lots of things going on and Client's that want things yesterday. I have found Manhattan Shade to be very reliable and accommodating. My favorite installer is Tommy, neat, quick and efficient. Merrill is organized and knowledgable and Mitch really goes the distance. In the world of service Manhattan Shade is right up there - product, workmanship coupled with the right attiturde to get the work done and make a Client happy. more

They were somewhat shady. They lacked in people service and acted in inappropriate behavior at times, that would make one scream. Respect and trust were lost due to the chaos that went on with my shades. I heard great things from friends, but the experience was a great disappointment, and unfortunately I will not return.\r I just bought some $10 paper shades the other day, and they look pretty good on my windows. more

Horrible experience. Things they could of explained in the beginning were explained after the fact.\r I don't understand how they work. My blinds have to be re-cut due to not being measured right the\r first time. Customer Service needs to be improved if they want return customers. I will never come back to this store after this uncomfortable, draining, brainwashing, dishonest experience. more

I have 4000 dollars worth of shades sitting on the floor of my study. Manhattan Shade & Glass has come twice to install them and both times they discovered the curtains were cut incorrectly and do not fit my windows. Some one is supposed to come remeasure them today, but no one showed up (although I had to take the afternoon off work to wait for them).\r \r For the prices they charge, one would think that the people at Manhattan Shade and Glass would do at least a decent job. This has turned out to be EXTREMELY fustrating. I placed my order at the end of April, and it is now mid-October.\r \r Pros: Nothing Cons: Expense, reliability and service more

I ordered some Hunter Douglass blinds from them- specifically Leslie Ross at Manhattan Shade- which cost me close to $1,450. The same shades were a bit less expensive at Janovic Plaza but as per Ms. Ross, her client service would be superior to that of Janovic's. This was completely untrue. The blinds were terrible and did not keep out the light as promised. They took the blinds back and promised me a refund. It has been two weeks and I still have not seen a refund. I had to send two emails and make yet another call to Manhattan Shade and i was told that their bookkeper has been on vacation and the bookkeeper is the only one in the whole store who can credit accounts!!! That is the most ridiculous policy I have ever heard. Ms. Ross did not apologize and constantly put me on hold while I was in the middle of speaking. The manager then picked up and told me they only credit people twice a month and I would have my credit tomorrow. You can imagine my surprise at hearing that miraculously by tomorrrow I would get my credit. This whole experience was absolutely unforgiveable and the service, or lack thereof, was completely inept. Cons: terrible customer service, refunds, when given, occur only twice a month more
