Best

Outside of Chicago, this is the only other authentic pizza available. When in Chicago, it's Girodano's, but here in Austin, it's Mangia. My wife loves the thin Margherita on cru...

Worst

Mangia ""Chicago Pizza"" is okay for people who haven't a clue what good pizza taste like. Unfortunately there isn't anywhere in Austin where you can get good authenic pizza, th...

Overated... 6/13/2005

Lousy Pizza that tastes like imitation Chicago style...It always surprises me how this place succeeds... more

Wow!! 5/28/2005

I went to the new Gracy Farms/Mopac location to pick up our pizza & boy was I impressed! We ordered a deep dish & I love how they put the sauce on top of the pizza. It's a little messy, but changing the order of the ingredients does wonders. And the sauce is the perfect marriage of zesty, sweet & peppery flavors. Lots of all the toppings, sauce, cheese, sausage & black olives. Will definitely go back for more! Probably won't eat in the restaurant b/c there are lots of kids & families. Pros: yummy pizza Cons: busy/families more

Pizza of the Gods!! 5/21/2005

(Guadalupe location): Don't go for the ambience... there is none! No tables, either (except for the picnic tables in the parking lot!) Nothing fancy here. But the pizza... wonderful! Tangy, fresh pizza sauce, gooey cheese, and several other fillings of your choice. The edge crust is light and crisp, unlike anything I've ever had before. more

Good pizza. That's all. 4/26/2005

Go have fun and have a great pie! Not the best pizza ever, but it is certainly among the top five in Austin. Pros: Good pizza Cons: expensive more

Fantastic Pizza 1/9/2005

As usual, a good place is getting trashed by those who obviously don't know how to enjoy themselves and live a little. I don't know if Mangia's could be considered 'authentic', but what is really authentic when you start splitting hairs to such a degree? What they do is simply make outstanding pizza pies. They are a substantive experience, probably best eaten with a knife and fork. Literally, these pies are about 2 inches tall, with a full 1 and 1/4 inches of sauce and ingredients. They are a little pricey, but it is well worth it. They deliver in the surrounding area. Pros: Great pizza PIES more

Great Pizza for Texas 12/11/2003

I am from near Chicago and this is the best deep dish pizza I have found in Austin. The service has always been great along with the food. Pros: Deep Dish Pizza, Service, Good Value Cons: Sometimes Crowded more

It's okay 12/11/2003

With all of the raving by everyone I work with, I thought it would be exceptional. However, I found that it was just perhaps average, and in fact, a little bland. The absolute BEST pizza I've had yet in the Austin area is from a little place in Georgetown called the Brooklyn Pie Co. Oh my gosh, now THAT is amazing pizza! Full of flavor, MUCH better than Mangia, hands down. Pros: thick pizza, good toppings Cons: inconvenient location, food is just "okay", questionable service more

Mangia Pizza 12/11/2003

While I have not been to the location on Guadalupe, I have been to the Meas restaurant and was extremely disappointed. The service was sub-standard, the food was cold and over priced. This establishment is over rated and is not a good value. Pros: location Cons: expensive, poor service, sub-standard food more

Yummy Pizza - We are hooked! 11/12/2003

We have tried other places, but keep coming back to Mangia. The pizza is outstanding. The sauce is awesome and they are very consistent with food quality. We don't go for the service... as a matter of fact, they stay out of our way so we can stuff our faces with the best pizza in Austin. Can you say ""franchise?"" more

cardboard crust 9/19/2003

I have eaten there a couple of times and both times the crust was inpenetrable. I literally had to stab it with a knife to get a piece off. EXTREMELY FLAVORLESS!!! It is ridiculously priced as well. I think I would love Chicago pizza as long as this isn't it. Pros: nice waitstaff, cheap beer, prompt seating Cons: price, bad crust, not enough stuffing more

What the hack are you thinking? 8/8/2003

Just like a threat of snow in Texas, Austinites have never HAD Chicago style pizza. This stuff is tripe! Pros: Big, Hot Cons: $$$$$$$ - Expensive, Lousy, Fake more

Authentic? I dunno and I don't care 6/10/2003

I'm not from Chicago, and have no idea if Mangia's stuffed pizza is ""authentic."" And frankly, I couldn't care less! Even if it's utterly bogus, it's still better pizza than I've found at any of the competing establishments! Now, the service is generally not great, the ambience is forgettable, and you have to wait quite a while to get your pizza. But I happen to think it's well worth the wait. And if you want to get together with a large group for pizza, you won't find a better place in Austin, in my opinion. Pros: great pizza Cons: poor service, long wait for food more

Chicago Style......NOT! 3/6/2003

Sorry folks, I grew up near Chicago and this is NOT Chicago style pizza. As far as atmosphere and seating, I guess its ok if its a warm sunny day, as long as you don't mind the traffic on Guadalupe. I had heard and read reviews raving about this place and it was a MAJOR dissappointment! more

not impressed 1/14/2003

I am not impressed with Mangia pizza. Their crust is doughy, the sauce leaves you with an after taste to be desired. If you do order I suggest there thin pizza....kind of tastless, but not as doughy. the stuffed spinach pizza..one word...UGH!! more

Mmmmmmmmm 1/8/2003

While I was visiting Austin, I ordered Mangia's in the hotel I was staying at so I am not sure of the Ambienence of the restraunt. I was taken back by the price as obviously they are proud of their pizza, HOWEVER, the taste was so fabulous, that the pizza is a great value. Absolutely the finest pizza I have ever had. more

I'm a skeleton here! 1/3/2003

Mangia has wonderful pizza, but their restaurant service stinks! The Mesa location wait staff disappears for seemingly hours on end while your empty glass melts ice, and your pizza's sit on the counter under heating lamps waiting to be brought to your table. Best call ahead and pick up your order - the service at home couldn't be worse! Pros: Good Value, Great Pizza Cons: Bad Service, Bad Service, Bad Service more

Austin's Best? I think not. 12/16/2002

I was disappointed with the service- we waited at the front while several waiters looked at us and continued chatting. Then our waiter took forever to appear. The pizza? I've had better! more

Mangia! Mangia! Eat! Eat! 12/5/2002

We discovered Mangia several months ago and now no other pizza can beat it. We take all of our out of town guests there, then when the bats are in town we head over to the Congress bridge to cap the evening. You must also try their Ooie gooie brownie. They have a fun staff, too. Pros: yummy food, fun atomosphere, fun staff Cons: small, can be loud if crowed more

Avoid it... 12/5/2002

This pizza is aweful. It amazes me year after year how they get a good rating. The sause is like sludge, they put sugar in it, no flavor at all. It tastes like bland tomato paste. The crust on their pizza is doughy and dry. If you like good flavorful pizza, avoid Mangia like the plague. more

OVERPRICED! 11/13/2002

The pizza was okay...nothing spectacular...but the price was out of this world! Completely overpriced! What a rip off! Cons: Price, Food, Ingredients more
