I was a case of very high astigmatism. When I say very high I mean "VERY". Dr. Mandel was great from my first visit and went through all the pros and the cons of the operation and gave me the confidence that he will do his level best. The great thing was he was straight forward from day 1 and let me decide on my own. And I have to tell that this was the best decision I probably took in my entire life. it's great to get rid of my specs after 16 years and it's even better to be able to see way better than I saw even with my specs. Dr. Madel and the staff is excellent and this is the kind of experience you always wish for. Thank you ever so much. 5/5 stars. more

Deciding to have laser surgey on my eyes was a big deal. After conducting my research into specialists in the field, I chose Mandel Vision. I was struck by how knowledgeable and thorough Dr. Mandel was from pre-op to post-op. I was also impressed by how professional Dr. Mandel's staff is. Not only were they able to clearly answer any question I had, they're also extremely personable and just pleasant. I recently had PRK surgery done at Mandel Vision and it has been the best decision I've made regarding my eyes. I've had constant issues in the past with contacts drying out with the weather or dust at work, or falling out with sports. My eye site is 20-15 about a month after surgery and still improving. Dr. Mandel and his staff were very personable and very thorough in describing the procedure and any risks associated, and I was amazed at the amount of tests that were done beforehand to ensure proper measurements were taken of my eyes. Before the surgery, I was taken to the pre op room to relax and was able to speak with Dr. Mandel once more (he has a great sense of humor). The surgery itself was very short and I never felt a thing. I had some issues with the bandages staying in post op (twice) but the staff were very helpful in seeing that I was taken care of almost immediately. Dr Mandel also gave me a call the night of the procedure just to make sure everything was ok. I highly recommend Mandel Vision more

When you are planning to get laser vision correction surgery, whether LASIK or PRK, make sure that you do your homework. I would recommend that you visit several doctors for the free consultation and pick the one that you get the best feeling about. I wouldn't recommend basing a surgery decision involving your eyes on price. My search is coming full circle today. I started looking on Yelp and now I am writing the review. I don't write too many reviews, so that should signal to you that I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my experience. I had three different consultations. The first had a very ""factory"" feel to it. They were really moving patients in and out of there. I did not meet the surgeon during the visit. It was definitely the cheapest option of the three. The second was a doctor that my family has been going to for a few years. The visit was better than the first, but they did not have their own laser so there was going to be this hand-off between their office and the Laser Center. It didn't make me nervous but I was a little less comfortable with that. The third was Dr. Mandel. Dr. Mandel operates his own equipment in his own office. He is very personable, friendly, and most importantly, very experienced and highly regarded in the field of laser vision correction. His staff is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and experienced. They did the most thorough consultation and had the strictest pre-surgery criteria for amount of time you had to keep contacts out, etc. This made me feel like Dr. Mandel was after the BEST POSSIBLE RESULT and not just a successful one. After all, this is surgery and not buying a coffeemaker at Target. You can have 20/15, 20/20, 20/25 vision afterward, and my guess is that all are CONSIDERED successful procedures. I had the procedure a week ago. I went home afterward, followed my instructions and slept a lot, and woke up the next morning and headed to my follow-up. I measured 20/15 vision that morning and went back to work. I had my one week follow up today and still 20/15, and I could tell it was slightly better than a week before. My eyes feel great and I can see better than I could with contacts. Give Dr Mandel's office a call and setup the consultation. If you do multiple like I did, I'm sure you'll come to the same conclusion. more

I have had poor vision for a very long time. I was never able to use contacts because the idea of touching my own eyeball every day really freaked me out. So I wore glasses most of the time... until I decided that I was sick of it. I went for a consultation with Dr. Mandel, not knowing what to expect. At 19, I thought maybe I was too young and he would turn me away until I was a little bit older. I was also nervous about if he said I could do the surgery- would it hurt? Would it be uncomfortable? Would something go wrong? However, after meeting with Dr. Mandel, I was pleased to find out I was a perfect candidate for lasik surgery, my vision has been stable for over a year and 19 was not too young. I was also reassured by Dr. Mandel's demeanor. He was extremely kind and comforting, and he assured me that nothing would go wrong, he was good at what he did. And he was right! My surgery went beautifully/ Dr. Mandel really is the BEST he was calm and kept me calm, and also gave me vision that was BETTER than 20/20! I was ecstatic. I was feeling great as early as that very evening. My classes resumed from break just two days afterward, and I was perfectly ready. For the first time in my life I was able to sit in class and take notes without straining to see. My whole life has changed for the better, I can finally see! DO this surgery, and do it with Dr. Mandel! more

Not that they need another 5-star review, but Dr. Mandel and the team at Mandel Vision are the cream of the crop when it comes to service, precision and extraordinary results. \r \r From the little things, like keeping an on-time appointment schedule, giving you realistic times for how long an appointment will take and always calling you in advance to remind you of an appointment, to the patient and professional bedside manner of Dr. Mandel himself, the entire experience is a pleasure. \r \r But, of course, the best thing of all is the results. I am DONE with contacts and glasses once and for all! The whole procedure takes less than an hour -- really only about 10 minutes for the LASIK itself -- and I could see 1 minute after the procedure!!! Dry eyes are the only lingering side effect, and that's totally expected! Also, I only had my surgery ONE week ago and I'm 20/15! I feel like I have x-ray eyes! \r \r I cannot say enough about how delightful my experience was at Mandel Vision. I honestly don't know why anyone would think twice about getting LASIK. It's a little pricey, but it's your eyes! My new vision was worth every penny. more

Pre-surgery, Doc and staff kept me calm and relaxed. Surgery was about 15 minutes from entering to exiting the room. 10 minutes in the chair. Once the anesthetic eye drops wore off (about 20-30 minutes post-op), I started feeling moderate burning and itching. One hour later, it merely felt like I had dry contacts in. ONE HOUR!!! THATS IT!! Now, it is the next morning, and I am better than 20/20 according to Doc. The ""halo"" effect is minimal, and I am ready for work, Thanks Doc!!! more

I contacted Mandel Vision over two and a half years ago, and due to the nature of my work (I'm a performer) I was unable to have the procedure done back then. But when I called two weeks ago, they still remembered me, and I couldn't tell you how happy I am that I stuck to my decision and went through with something I've been afraid of for a long time! My procedure had taken a little longer than others, because I had a case of ""bubbles"" after my flap had been made. I was told it was normal, and it only happens once in a blue moon. They went ahead with the second eye while waiting for the bubbles in my first eye to disappear and although it took quite a while (because I'm just that lucky,) my left eye was done in less than 2 minutes and then eventually when we went back to the first eye. I will say honestly, that perhaps because it was the waiting, whether my eye was just exhausted, or whatever the reason was, I could not keep my eyes open. However, after the procedure, I could tell I was able to see clearly right away, but I couldn't keep my lids open and I was so sensitive to light. On my drive home, I had to wrap my scarf around my sunglasses because anything more than pitch dark was causing me to tear. I got home, took my Tylenol PMs, slept for four hours, woke up, and I could see perfectly. I haven't had any problems, other than the occasional dryness and the red spots all over the whites of my eyes from the suction from when the flap was made. (Which I'm told will disappear in two weeks time.) The most uncomfortable part was the first hour when I was well.. not sleeping. It was agonizing because I couldn't stop tearing from the light! But soon after my nap, it's as if I woke up from a dream and I can now see better than 20/20. It was worth every second of discomfort, and I would recommend anyone who's had doubts to go ahead and just DO IT! The staff, by the way, from Dr Mandel to Missy to Nancy to Gabriela to everyone in reception, were amazing. They are truly professional, genuine, caring, and made me feel at ease the entire way through. more

Just returned from my follow-up appointment, and my vision is better than 20/20 on day one! Surgery was a cake walk. Painless and incredibly fast. And aside from some light-sensitivity, I was seeing great immediately. 30 minutes later and I felt like my eyes were 18 again! Dr. Mandel & his entire staff were absolutely awesome. Friendly, informative, funny, accommodating, caring. I really cant thank them enough. My wife is next!! more
