Best

love the wonton soup!

Worst

Awful. The menu had sushi, but Mandarin does NOT make or sell sushi. Mandarin and Grubhub have been a colossal and irritating waste of time and money. Never again from either.

Worst service I have ever had anywhere 7/5/2010

July 4, 2010, I had the worst experience ever in a restaurant anywhere. My wife and I were hungry and saw the Mandarin Palace among a few other restaurants all on the same side of the street. We looked at the menus posted on their doors and decide to try the Mandarin. The restaurant was nearly empty when we walked in, and I immediately second guessed myself about our choice. The waitress seemed friendly and, when we ordered the asparagus chicken soup, she nodded and said: ""That is good, I like it myself"". We wanted to order the crispy duck, but wondered if it would take a very long time for the chef to prepare the dish. She assured us that it would not take very long. So we order the duck along with kung pao chicken. The soup was soon served. We discovered shortly that it was not the asparagus chick soup we ordered, but the chicken corn soup. We did not bother to complain, the chicken corn suited us fine too. A few minute later, the waitress brought the king pao chicken. The portion was large and it tasted well. The crispy duck was still nowhere to be seen after we had already finished the kung pao chicken. We thought it was going to take some time after all, she told us otherwise only because she wanted us to order the relatively more expensive dish. So we waited. Finally, she approached us again and handed us the CHECK with two fortune cookies. I was flabbergasted and, after a few seconds of hesitation, asked her highness where the duck was. She said: ""oh, I forgot, I am sorry"" and began to take the check off the table. I told her to leave the check there, we were leaving. We paid for whatever we ate and, believe it or not, even left some tip. I did not want to leave any tip at all, but just could not bring myself to do it. With only two tables of customers to serve, she still could not do her job. The positive side of this is that I now have an interesting story to share with my friends for a few laughs. Pros: Location is good Cons: Bad service more

best place in the city 11/5/2009

You have to try this place out. The food was delicious!! This place is easily my favorite spot. Ever since i been coming here i have no bad comments except for the time i had to wait longer than usual because they were busy, but the wait was worth it. My recommendation is the fried dumplings, beef ho fun, gen tso, Thai curry shrimp, and Malaysian fried rice. these are just my usual orders but I'm sure there are better selections. There price was also reasonable compared to the surrounding restaurants. Pros: They were fast and it was good more

Sanitation issue - and they laughed! 2/23/2009

I ordered a dinner combination special from this place, and got soup along with it. So as I lifted the spoon to my mouth, I saw an insect! A huge c*ckroach!\r I called up the driver immediately, and he forwarded me to the manager. When I spoke about the issue, she put me on hold for 10 minutes and I could hear her conversing to her peers, all the while there was laughter in the background! She told me many people think scallions look like c*ckroaches. Why would there be a scallion in simple wonton soup?? I told her I could see the legs, the eyes, the wings, it was upside down and dead! She started yelling, telling me ""they have a business to run."" I said, ""I'm the customer, there is no business without customers!"" So, after a brief argument, I told her to eat it herself. I also said I wanted my money back. She said she would return my money, on one condition - if I returned the contaminated food. I hung up, called up the Sanitation department of Philadelphia, and now I'm going to wait to see what happens. I have the soup in my freezer, because this is MY evidence. It won't get thrown out over $21 bucks. No way. Getting my money back won't solve the issue regarding the filth in their kitchen. This will be resolved, and I better get my money back asap. Pros: Delivery was fast Cons: There was a huge c*ckroach in my soup, and they yelled at me and didn't return my money. more

Very good food, will order from here again! more

surprisingly good 7/8/2004

went here for lunch today and my first impression was a little weird cause the place has slightly overdone decor (paper lanterns everywhere) and i think they need to air the place out a little and let some light in. but the food was surprisingly good. we had lunch specials chicken in garlic sauce and general's chicken (sauteed not fried), with brown rice and egg roll. it was all very good and better than all the other chinese places i've been to within a 4 block radius. Pros: cheap, good food more
