Best Chinese 8/18/2005

Mandarin Kitchen is located in a strip mall next to a furniture store and a nail salon. You would not expect to find a gem here, but there it is glimmering. If you like Chinese food, then you must visit this place. My friends and I affably call it "The Kitchen" because we are so enamored by it. The menu is huge and is written in several Asian languages. The restaurant is generally busy and on Saturdays it seems to get busy late. Its not the best looking place but you are not there for the looks. You are there to eat. For American tastes, there is the awesome cream cheese won tons. These are always crispy and served piping hot. THe pot stickers are a great appetizer as well. For first timers, I would suggest the Mandarin Chicken. It has vegetables, chicken and I believe some noodles. It is tossed in a special sauce and has a kick. If you are into seafood they have about 12 tanks filled with various fish and sea creatures that they will cook to order at market prices of course. On Saturday and Sunday morning, Dim Sum is served and is so popular that you must expect to wait at least an hour to get seated. But with all the different food that comes around on trolleys, you are teated to a gastronomical high. So much to taste. If you are not adventuresome in your taste, you won't have fun. And finally at dinner, if you want to play it safe but good, ask for the House Fried Rice. It's not on the menu and its secret is only told to regulars, so you have in. The rice is perfectly cooked with shrimp, chicken and pork. The flavor is great. Most dishes run about $10 and you usually get enough for leftovers so this is a good value. more

Dim Sum 8/5/2005

Located just right outside the Twin Cities, Madarin's Kitchen is a great place to eat lunch or dinner. They have a wide variety of foods to choose from and the service is great. It can get a bit crowded at times, so either come at off peak times or prepare to wait a little bit. Highly recommended Asian restaurant. more

Best Dim Sum in Twin Cities 8/4/2005

This outlet served the best dim sum during weekends in the Twin Cities. This is definitely a must-try place if you are in the Midwest (besides Chicago) where asian food are not so common. Be sure to get there early though. We arrived around 10.30am and had to wait for a while before we could get seats. One thing to note: tips are automatically included in the bill. more
