Being part of a big Italian family, I know what to expect when it comes to good Italian food. Growing up in...

I am tired of everyone saying Mama Santa's has the best pizza. I am guessing most of the people who have voted have nevr even tried it. Valentino's on Murray Hill has a much tasti...

PIZZA 7/27/2005

Mama Santa's is the best pizza anywhere. Don't gimme your Chicago pan pizza jive or your NY Sicilian propaganda. I've had them all and Cleveland's Mama Santa's beats them, hands down. Go and check it out for yourself!!!!!!!! Fly in from around the globe. Pros: PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA more

Definitely for me. . . but, not for everyone 3/15/2005

Mama Santa's has the best food in Little Italy, hands down. The homemade pastas are amazing. The pizza is very good and the wine is good and cheap. But, it's a neighborhood place, and it's definitely not for everyone. Some people expect a wider selection of beers, and a brighter interior. I like the ""home-like"" atmosphere of Mama Santa's. But some people won't appreciate it. The waitresses get busy as does the kitchen and people dining there should expect it to get busy and to do a bit of waiting. If that's not your scene, I suggest you try a chain or a different restaurant. But, if you're looking for fantastic food at an inexpensive price, and you don't mind the wait, consider Mama Santa's. It's not highly rated because of the atmosphere, but because of it's incredible food and value. Pros: Excellent food, Inexpensive, Large portions Cons: parking, busy on weekends more

pizza done right 1/20/2005

A place where the crust is an undecided between thick and thin. And the pizza seems burt, but they make the best pizza in cleveland hands down. I am able to eat half a pizza by myself. Pros: cheap, big, taste is great Cons: , you could wait, give your pizza away more

WOW!!!! 12/19/2004

This is BY FAR the best restaurant that I have ever been to.. italian or otherwise. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Everyone was wonderful and the food... wow!! Home made everything!! We got soo much food.. Im talking 2 entrees of spaghetti, an appetizer and a medium 8 cut pizza and we walked out therer spending less the $30!!! You have GOT to try the homemade mozzerella sticks. They are as big as logs and the pizza is better then anything that I ever had. GO TO MAMA SANTAS!!! Pros: Food, Food, Food more

without a doubt, the best in cleveland 11/18/2004

there is no other place that can match the embiance and the quality and flavor you will experience at Mama Santa's. In classic Little Italy on the near east side of Cleveland there are many good places to go, but Mama Santa's should be on the top of your list for dining pleasure. Pros: Great food, True Italian Embiance, Well worth the price more

Good, but was better 7/18/2004

We have been to Mama Santa's many times over the years. I have to say that overall, they use to be much better than they are now. Recently we took our children there for dinner. The pizza was so hard and black on the bottom that my two year old would not have even been able to chew it. The waitress was slightly annoyed that we asked to send it back. The second time around the pizza was much better. My husband's pasta was average. I love the area and think Mama's is a nice place and I take no joy in giving a lukewarm review. I just prefer Trattoria. Pros: Inexpensive, Lovely location Cons: , small interior more

gone down Murray Hill and getting worse 7/11/2004

after a very long 45 min wait, the pizza looked and tasted like burned carboard! After leaving it pretty intact except for 2 small leftover bites...the owner claimed it as his own dinner and that it was the same wonderful pizza as always. BULL.....I have eaten there since the 60's when it was the best....shame on me...how dare I complain. Hey, I even put up with the lousy service all of these years. No more..let it keep sliding down the hill! more

Mamma Santa's 6/13/2004

Until recently, I had only ever eaten Mamma's homemade pasta. I decided to give the pizza a shot. WOWWWWWW. The taste is unbelievable. When this thing came to my table, I must admit I wasn't very impressed with the way it looked, and I really wasn't expecting it to taste any better. By my second bite, I was hooked. I sat there and ate 6 pieces because I simply could not stop. I have had authentic New York Sicilian pizza and this is the next best (if not better) thing! Pros: Pizza, Homemade pasta, Very inexpensive more

PEACHES0079 4/8/2004

I THINK MAMA SANTA'S PIZZA IS THE BEST. ALL OF THE REVIEWS SHOW THAT, ONCE YOU GO THERE YOU WILL KEEP GOING BACK. FOR THOSE FEW THAT DON'T LIKE IT THAT'S FINE, IT JUST SHOWS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE ANY IDEAL OF WHAT "" GREAT "" FOOD IS. THE FOOD, THE PEOPLE, THE ATMOSPHERE IS JUST WONDERFUL. Pros: SERVICE, FOOD, VALUE Cons: , WAIT TIME more

best ever 3/25/2004

Since moving from Cleveland 3 years ago, there are few things I really miss, but I must say, Mama Santas is one of them. The pizza is authentic and you can have a dinner for two including a bottle of cheap sangria which is pretty good!) for under $15. Little Italy is an awesome place....I go to Mama's every time I visit. more

I miss it! 3/1/2004

My now husband went to Case as an undergrad and every weekend I would visit him we HAD to go to Mamas!! It is my favorite pizza! Now we live in Boston, and I still talk about Mama's pizza! I even talk to MIT students who are from Cleveland about how much I miss it and they agree! I can not wait to go back someday to have some more! However, the service isn't the best. :( But the pizza more than makes up for it. It's not everyone's favorite, but it is mine!!! :) Pros: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza Cons: , No free refills, Busy on Weekends more

Mama Santa's Pizza 12/11/2003

Not only does the pizza at Mama Santa's make for a perfect visit but the entire neighborhood of Little Italy that surrounds the restaurant. Before you even enter the restaurant you are transported into a small village that takes you back in time - when life was simpler. Little Italy is a must-see to any visitors of Cleveland. There is no better place than Mama Santa's to experience true Italian dining at old-world prices. Don't just stop at the pizza, either. The pasta dishes are bellisimo, too! Pros: Affordable, Great Ambience Cons: Parking, Wait time more

Mama Santa's 8/8/2003

I am tired of everyone saying Mama Santa's has the best pizza. I am guessing most of the people who have voted have nevr even tried it. Valentino's on Murray Hill has a much tastier pizza at a better price. I live in Little Italy and even though it may be considered sacrilegious, I don't believe they have the best pizza anymore. Instead of taking my word for it, try Valentino's yourself. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Pros: inexpensive Cons: small, crowded more

It is what it is, folks. 6/3/2003

hey! guess what! it ain't Giovanni's, people! this is a neighborhood pizza joint. the pizza isn't to everyone's liking, but neither is Papa John's, Donato's or what-have-you. you don't go here for hi-my-name-is-Bryce-i'll-be-your-server. you go to Mama Santa's for the cheap pizza and the Little Italy experience, for great ravioli and a $12 bottle of wine. it's homey and comforting. Pros: cheap, quick, good pizza Cons: not the friendliest, lacking in ambience, parking more

Simply the best 2/10/2003

Their sauce is unique, not bland tomato as with most places. Very reasonably priced. Service is sometimes lacking and they could use a better beer list, but the pizza is so good, everything else is tolerated. Pros: Great Food, Great price Cons: No parking more

Not for stuffy yuppies 2/7/2003

First of all, what it is: a fantastic neighborhood eatery. What it is not: a four-star restaurant complete with expensive table settings and black tie servers. If you like huge portions of homemade pasta and luscious pizza this place will become a consistent stop. If you're looking for a stuffy, overpriced fancy place to impress a trendy date you will not like Mama Santa's. The down to earth atmosphere where form takes a back seat to function is ideal for students and artists at any age. Beware conservative elitists! Pros: value/portions, relaxed atmosphere, great pizza Cons: weekend waiting, no soda refills, closed Sunday more

Like Mama's 1/15/2003

Great food at a good price, not real fancy inside but the food makes up for that. Pros: Great Food, Family Owned, Good People Cons: Ambience more

You call this pizza? 1/10/2003

Using reconstituted onions like Mc'Donald's is NOT what I call good toppings. The crust was hard and inedible, the sauce was bland, and the toppings sucked. Not even fresh mushrooms - they used the nasty canned variety. The waitress practically threw the pizza at us and we had to send up a flare to get the bill. I can't believe this place is rated so high - I'd rater eat pizza from ANY place else. Definitely the WORST pizza I've EVER had. Cons: Bad Pizza, Grungy Dining Room, Horrible Service! more

kph 1/9/2003

Best pizza in Cleveland. I've been going there for over 25 years. Pros: authentic, small, unaffected ambiance Cons: crowded parking more
