This restaurant is located in the warehouse district downtown. I was very impressed and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a little Spanish flair! Fantastic fo...

Malaga I (old location): Nearly everything about this place is perfect so it is easier to get the only ""con"" out of the way. The food selection is somewhat limited, or should ...

Terrible Service 4/24/2003

I've been to Malaga twice and both time I felt like I was dealing with a spoiled teenager when trying to place my order. Half the time the waitstaff is rude, the other half they can't be found. If you'd like to feel welcome in a bar, go somewhere else--the waitstaff acts like they're doing you a favor by waiting on you. Pros: Ambience Cons: Bad Service, Expensive more

Fabulous!!! 4/22/2003

My partner and I were visiting Austin last summer, and dropped into Malagas on a whim. We were tired, hungry, and a bit underdressed. Not only was the food excellent and service wonderful, but the owner stopped by our table to chat. We ended up talking for about 45 minutes, he bought us each a glass of wine, and we left happy, full, and incredibly impressed with the authentic hospitality. Pros: hospitable, delicious, authentic more

Romantic and Affordable 3/27/2003

Malaga's offers both high end selections, and many reasonably priced wines (for those used to sixth street). The atmosphere generates a romantic tone the moment you pass through the door. Everything from the lighting to the elegant waitresses puts one in the mood for love. Pros: Atmosphere, Prices, Nearby Free Parking Cons: Small Portions(tapas) more

A Great Experience 2/11/2003

Dined here with 3 colleagues one night. Excellent wine list, food is well above average. If you're looking to have a great glass of wine and some tapas with friends, this is the place to be. Outstanding atmosphere The service was fair, which was surprising. The owner spent a few minutes at our table to introduce himself, and was very hospitable. more

Not $ 1/27/2003

This restaurant is listed with one dollar sign and it is NOT inexpensive (unless you eat just one plate of tapas for dinner). Pros: excellent food Cons: overpriced more

Noisy, cramped and pretentious 11/21/2002

Tapas... Well they were good, but not enough to make us want to return here. Indifferent waitstaff, obnoxious manager - they must be spending a lot of money advertising with these guys, can't think how the reviewer had such a wonderful experience! more

The Worst Service Ever!!! 10/31/2002

After entering the restaurant and being told to seat ourselves, we proceeded to sit for 15 minutes without ever seeing anyone on the waitstaff. I finally went to the bar and ordered a bottle of wine. Ten minutes after that our waitress finally showed up. We told her what food we wanted and that we had ordered a bottle of wine at the bar. We didn't see her again for 20 more minutes when she brought out our food (with only two plates for four people - we never did get the other two plates we asked for). It took another 5 minutes for are wine to get there. I will never again go to this restaurant!!! The food was good, but I get better service at McDonald's - and they aren't being tipped near as well!!! Pros: Unique Food, Good Location, Wine Selection Cons: Service, Waitstaff, Employees more

Real spanish charm.. 9/23/2002

We love the atmosphere and foot at Malaga. The closest thing in town to an authentic Spanish tapas bar. Try the shaker drinks if you aren't a wine fan. The wine classes offered several times a month are great as well. more

don't think so... 9/22/2002

I would say that I love Malaga, until last night. We had to constantly hunt down our waitress to order more drinks, the appetizer was brought out only after we asked where it was - and it was cold. Then the waitress added a 17% gratuity when it clearly states on the menu ""gratuity added to parties of 6 or more - WE HAD FIVE! When I asked her to take the auto gratuity off she said ""oh, you didn't want that added?"" I'll probably never go back... Cons: bad service, slow, poor quality more

Malaga's tapas vs. Spain's tapas. 8/25/2002

Me and my husband went to Spain last month and proved that Malaga has the best tapas. I'm from South America and in Malaga I can find the best wine from my country. Pros: Best wine, Clean, Outside area. Cons: non-parking more

Great Place to Start the Evening 8/3/2002

Malaga is a great place to start the evening and the wine list can't be beat! It seems to be a ""starting place"" for the younger, trendy crowd out for a night on the town, so if you don't like crowds and noise, go early. The wait staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wines. If you can't decide, ask the manager to recommend a wine for you -- he's always right on target. Three or 4 appetizers will make an inexpensive dinner for two. It's a fun place for ""old married couples"" like us to sit back and sip on a great wine, watch the dating and mating rituals, and reminisce about our former bar-hopping, single days when we could stay awake until 2:00 a.m. As an added bonus, check out the wine and food classes during the week. Pros: Wine List, Knowledgeable Staff, Inexpensive Dinner Cons: Crowded, Loud Later more
