First off, let me express my condolences to the previous writer who lost her dog. I am sorry to hear about your experience and that you lost a member of your family. However, I am writing this review, as unlike the previous writer, I have experienced the exact opposite with Dr. Teresa. We recently switched to Magnolia Animal Hospital for our 7 year old dachshund. Dr. Teresa was the first doctor we saw back in January. Our dog was sick and has since been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease. As tramatic has it has been to see my dog sick and not know what to do, Dr. Teresa has been an angel. She has been very thorough in her treatment, research and diagnosis for our dog. She has always had my dog's health concern as one of her top priorities. Whenever, I have called due to a concern or to follow up, she has taken the time to discuss in detail our dog's case and has always acted in a very professional manner. The times I have come to the office to pickup a medication, she has greeted me at the front and spoken to me face to face about the care and treatment needed for our dog without an appointment. One of the reasons we left our prior veterinarian was due to the lack of compassion and personal attention. I can honestly say that Dr. Teresa has gone above and beyond my expectations and has been honest, upfront and knowledgeable about our dog's medical condition and treatment. The doctors at Magnolia work as a team and like most professionals, discuss their cases together. At one point, I was concerned about some new symptoms our dog was experiencing and had to call in when Dr. Teresa was not working and spoke to Dr. Jon. He was aware of my dog's case and was in agreement with everything that Dr. Teresa has been doing for her. In addition to the help that Dr. Teresa has been providing for my dog, the staff at Magnolia has been wonderful as well. I truly do feel like they care about the health and well being of my dog and want the very best for her. They are a compassionate group of professionals and I am happy to call their practice and Dr. Teresa our veterinarian. more

Most wonderful vet 3/18/2010

I have been a customer of Magnoiia Animal Hospital for 12 years. I can't get over how affordable they are and how much they love my pets. We had to put my dog down 2 years ago and Dr. Jon cried almost as hard as I did. I couldn't believe how compassionate he was. He even came out to the car so Taylor could die in a comfortable place. There were even 2 or 3 staff members outside in the parking for support. They are not out to make tons of money...they want to help animals. I was so impressed to hear that a lot of the rescue groups go to Dr. Jon because of his prices and he is so generous to the homeless animal population. I have a hard time believing the negative reviews. They are wonderful!!!! more

I wanted to advise and express my thoughts on an incident that occured at Magnolia this weekend. My dog Frosty has been under constant care with Dr Jon he has been wonderful and sympathetic to our dogs needs. On Saturday February 27th we called the hospital for help as we noticed our dog was sluggish and had vomited dark coffee like grounds and her stool was dark. \r \r When calling Teresa was the vet on duty as Jon was off...thats where it all went bad,,,we explained all these symptoms in detail and she said your dog has a bleeding ulcer and she just needs certain meds I will prescribe and she will be better in 3-5 days. She was in a hurry to get off thr phone..Teresa had seen our dog on 2 occassions and was aware of her previous history. \r We got the meds 30mins later and started to administer them as told. By night time the dog was weak and stumbeling and could not settle down.\r We told our dog be patient we know your sick and your meds will kick in. Well later that night the dog has a seizure then went into like a coma state...When we tired talking to her she took her last breath as were on the phone with emergency help and died. When she died she discharged about 3 pints of blood from her stomach. We still rushed her to the emergency center and they confirmed she was dead.\r \r Teresa should have asked us to bring the dog in, Teresa should have told us sighns to look for, Teresa should have asked us what her face looked like as she was jawndess in eyes and mouth..When the dog died and we told them aboutst what Teresa did they almost admitted error rigth there...bottom line Teresa needs to stop practicing medicine.\r Could my dog have been saved, we truly think so as when we called the dog was not that ill.\r Thank you for reading.\r \r Linda A. Cameron\r \r The dog was 2 yrs 4 months old in great shape and her liver values were almost perfect.\r My dog died due to her neglect, she has only been there 2 years and we will never ever go back. Jon was on vacation thats how we got bad advice.Apparently she was busy and wanted to get out early as she is balancing her schedule.\r If anyone reading this ever ever get's Teresa run away don't let her look at your animal..If anyone ever see's any red in stool or vomit take your dog in, don't let them push you away like us.\r \r If anyone else had a problem with her I want to hear it. Of course we will take this as far as we can but it feels good to put it in writing here.\r We will no longer take our pets there as we may get caught again with Teresa and I can't allow another family member to die under her care.\r We truly think Frosty could have been saved.\r \r Thank you \r Linda Cameron more

Great Vet 10/15/2009

I have been taking my dogs to Magnolia for a couple of years. During this time they have always treated me and my dogs like best friends. My dogs would dance outside the door to go into the hospital.\r Recently, I lost one of my babies in a very traumatic situation. When I got to Magnolia, I was in shock, there was nothing that could be done to save him. The staff began to cry with me. their main concern then was to ensure I got home safely and had someone to take care of me. I wanted an autopsy done, John Dean (worried about me drivind) insisted on taking the body to the autopsy center! He went after work on his own time and I was never charged!!!\r I would never want to experience this again, but I thank God I had the help I had to get through it. \r I think it is reckless that people use the internet to post very negative comments when they are getting a small picture of what goes on in a business!!! Magnolia's lobby is always busy, people always seem happy and most important - the animals alwys get the love and respect from the staff. Pros: Staff, Care, more

Very unprofessional 7/30/2009

John Dean (partner) handles his situations poorly and is not compassionate about your pets. Our dogs are our ""KIDS"". John Dean did not make us feel like our dogs were #1 priority while boarded with Magnolia. Dr. Jon is very good. Wish he was at another center Pros: Dr. Jon is great Cons: John Dean is terrible more

I'll never take my pups ANYWHERE else!!!! 3/4/2009

I will NEVER take any of my 4-legged children to see anyone other than Dr Jon - unless it's one of the other staff at Magnolia Animal Hospital!!! I've been taking my dogs there for almost 10 years and would follow Dr Jon anywhere. He has helped us to make the difficult decision to put 2 of my dogs to sleep over the years and was nothing but respectful, understanding, and supportive. My 2 dogs now love going to see Dr Jon and the rest of the staff at Magnolia and that's saying a lot when one of them has received a monthly shot for the past 51/2 years! My "baby" was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia at 6 months however, because of the care that he gets from Dr Jon and staff; he continues to run and jump and doesn't appear to know he should be in pain and unable to walk. Other vets might have recommended putting him down or surgery that wouldn't have improved his quality of life, but based on the X-rays would have made sense... Dr Jon gets to know the personalities of his patients and their families and treats everyone with the utmost respect. There has been a fair amount of turnover in the last few years, both of vets and office staff; but I don't know of many places where this hasn't been the case. New staff have a learning curve and need to be given time to "get up to speed", but when you're a frequent visitor they quickly get to know you and your pet and are caring and attentive. I have (and will continue) recommended Magnolia Animal Hospital to friends, family, and neighbors over the years and can only hope that every 4-legged family member would have the opportunity to receive the love and care that mine do from Dr Jon and the rest of the staff at Magnolia Animal Hospital!!!! Pros: parking is great, staff are attentive, staff LISTEN, it's clean Cons: can't think of any more

Highly recommend! 1/4/2009

Dr. Jon is the best. We have taken our dog here for the past 7 years, and couldn't be happier. They are reasonably priced, compared to other vets in the area, and they have a friendly and caring staff, every visit, every phone call. more

The best vet in town! 10/17/2008

Magnolia Animal Hospital is the best in town. Not only have I recomended it to many people, but I have literally put my dog's life in their hands on THREE seperate occasions. My dog had parvo as a puppy and was hospitalized for a week. Dr. Jon and his staff did an amazing job nursing him back to health. They cared for Murphy like he was one of their own. At a year and a half he suffered an ACL tear. In addition to having to repair the tear, they had to stop his kneecap from. dislocating. I was allowed to go into the operating room with Murphy AND I waited in the back room with a very comfortable couch and privacy. They brought Murphy to me while he woke up. A year and a half later he tore the other ACL. Again, he received the same surgery and I received the same curtosy. We have been with the office for almost 6 years now. Dr. Jon and his staff care about the animals they treat as if they were their own AND keep their costs lower than other clinics. They do not jack up prices. They are reasonable and very respectful. Pros: Curteous staff, talented doctors, caring, keep costs low, respectful, love animals Cons: NONE more

i want to start off with the comment left below. I am SO AMAZED THAT YOU SIT THERE SAYING OUR PETS ARE OUR FAMILY AND YOU WANT THE BEST CARE FOR THEM ...then you go and get your cat DECLAWED. who are you to do that. god didnt put them on this earth to have their nails ripped out. you seem like you have high standards that even you cant handle. so you put the responsability on everyone else. well come back down from your cloud and back to reality. I would never leave my dog/cat at a vet for however many days "so they get the best care" bulls***! As for this hospital i have been to 3 vets down here. my dog started limping so i rushed her to quails corners. well the doctor had no idea what he was doing... i ordered for x-rays because i wanted to make sure everything was ok. first it was one thing then another. then he tells us to get a second opinion...um hello. where did you get your license from? then i went to this place in wake forest that was RAVED ABOUT. I FORGOT THE NAME BUT THEY DONT EXCEPT CREDIT CARDS. WELL THIS GUY COMES IN THROwS MY DOG ON THE TABLE.. TELLS ME WHATS WRONG WITH HER... THEN IS ABOUT TO GIVE HER A SHOT WITHOUT TELLING ME WHAT IT WAS. I STOPPED HIM AND ASKED WHAT ARE YOU DOING.. HE STOPS AND SAYS IM GIVING HER A THORIZINE SHOT(CANT SPELL IT) TO STOP THE SWELLING... NOW CAN I GO BACK TO PLAYING DOCTOR(YOU CAN IMAGINE MY RESPONSE) I WAS SO UPSET i searched again hoping to find a vet to take care of her. i came across magnolia animal hospital. never in my life came aross such a wonderful doctor(Dr. Jon) hes awesome.he takes care of both my dogs now. my dog recently got spayed by him and she came back home and slept for a day .. then acted like herself the next. i couldnt believe it. they did an awesome job. finding a good vet is hard.and if you want a doctor that cares and knows what hes doing GO HERE. for everyone else who declaws their cats and then leaves them at the vet "to have the best care" go to quail corners. Pros: wont find another doctor like him.and they email you reminders Cons: none more

Unhappy Pet Owner 7/8/2008

Being a discernable pet owner, I started taking my pets to Magnolia Hospital after reading such fantastic reviews. The first few years taking my animals to this vets was a very exceptional experience. The front staff were friendly and well trained and the veterinarians really seemed to know their stuff. That pretty much came to a screeching halt this past year. First of all, I brought my cat in for his 3 year rabies shot only to find out that they gave him a one year shot (not what I had asked for). Secondly, I recently had to put another cat down. This was quite a traumatic experience for me and you would think a good animal hospital would have the good sense to show some compassion. This definitely was not the case. When I first went into the vets the receptionist was going to take me down to an examination room. I had to inform her that my cat was being put down. She admitted not reading the chart. When I went back a few days later to pick up the ashes, I had to wait in the lobby for 10 minutes being totally ignored. When finally someone waited on me, they were going to charge me for a second time for the cremation. The receptionist also handed me the ashes without even an "I'm so sorry for you loss...if you ever need anything, let us know." I mean good God, I just lost a part of my family and they didn't even acted as if they cared! Personally, I am not going to patron an animal clinic that doesn't treat their clientelle with respect, dignity, or compassion! Please just pass this animal hospital by. They may have been fantastic before, but they are slowly going down hill fast. If I could rate them with 0 stars, beleive me, I would. more
