Beyond your ordinary art exhibits 4/9/2006

Moca frequently is a place to find interesting and thought-provoking contemporary art. The work presented changes frequently enough to keep things interesting and exhibitions frequently demonstrate new and innovative experiments in art. One of the best things about the museum is the additional education, events and programs that accompany exhibits such as lectures, live music events, and the use of multimedia (video presentations, etc...) which helps the museum reach out to a broader array of people and generate interest. more

Well-selected contemporary art, great gift shop 8/17/2005

Cleveland’s Museum of Contemporary Art tends to be misunderstood among locals. The Museum gets lost in that limbo area halfway between a gallery and a museum. Located in loft-like space in midtown, it displays expertly curated collections of work from up-and-coming, as well as nationally known, contemporary artists. MOCA offers a view of the current art world not always available in smaller cities. The gift shop is expertly stocked, and is one of Cleveland’s best-kept secrets. more

Creative & Contemporary 7/8/2005

I went to this museum based on the raving review from The Cleveland Plain Dealer. I adore artwork, and modern artwork is no exception. The exhibitions are constantly rotating, so you can come back frequently and have a whole new world to explore. The photography, work with people, large-scale paintings, and offbeat colors and shadings offer a unique taste of art. Color is a big portion of the artwork - it's always bright, vivid, and splattered all over to create your less-than-traditional masterpiece. I loved these; they were creative and contemporary. more
