They did a wonderful job 11/23/2008

The funeral home did a great job throughout - picking up the remains, helping us through the arrangements, preparing the body, setting up the room, and handling the actual funeral and graveside services. They delivered the small arrangements to home, and all of the thank you cards, etc. They also included a really wonderful aftercare planning package that is really helpful for all of the stuff after the funeral. It included everything I needed, even the stamps, envelopes, and letters for all of the places that would need notice of my husband's death. The staff at the funeral home could not have been more considerate, compassionate, or helpful. They took a horrible, painful situation and they're assistance made it a lot easier to get through. more

Exceptional and personal service! 1/15/2008

The Miller-Dippel funeral home is a GREAT recommendation for anyone needing funeral services according to our family. I attended a funeral there about 2 yrs ago for a neighbor and was pleased with what I saw for her and her family. So, when my mother passed away to heaven in December of 2007 I contacted this funeral home with confidence to use their services and immediately noticed their excellent customer service over the phone, (which was consistant throughout all of the services requested). John Evans the manager in which we delt with was extremely kind and helpful beyond what was expected. It was easy to make a next day appointment and during the appointment it was clear to my brothers and I that he was not only very proffessional but caring! He and all his staff worked quickly, efficiently and respectfully during my mother's service and preparations, everything was BEAUTIFULLY DONE: - prayer cards, flower arrangements, pictures, seating... everything! We were so blessed and impressed! Thank you! They really did all they could for us and and we are very pleased with all their services and efforts. We would highly recommend this funeral home to anyone wanting a service well done. Many thanks! Sincerely, Rebecca. Pros: Caring and proffessional service entirely. Cons: None more

Lousy Funeral Room/Service 4/15/2007

Well..my former mother-in-law looked great. The flowers were beautifully arranged around the casket. However, after about an hour, it became unbearable hot. I had to go outside several times to cool off. The prayer cards had the wrong birth year on them. On the day of the funeral, it became hot again, however, someone from the funeral home must have come in and turned on the air conditioning. It made it much more bearable. At previous funeral services the pastor or priest would relate scripture to the life of the deceased. Boy, was I wrong about this service. He rambled on about stained glass windows and clear glass windows..being able to see things you shouldn't see. Ohh..and he said something about wisdom and the Jewish faith having a better definition about the meaning of wisdom. We are still waiting for an explanation how this relates to Mother. Fortunately, we as family members know how wise Rosalie Dingle was. Then he talked about a boy..I don't know. As quick as he went..not relating ANYTHING to our beloved relative it was over just as quickly. He said "Amen" and "Please sit" in the same breath! I didn't see any tissues at all in the room..oh yes..on the way out, the funeral guy held a box of tissues for us to take one at a time. Then..out to the cemetary..where the flowers were dumped in a pile. We walked right by them to the gravesite. The priest started talking before everyone was there! It was unbelievable! And once again, over just as quickly with the skinny mustached funeral guy saying, "The service has concluded." The Dingle family has been using this funeral home for many services. I think that they should consider using another one in the future...and hopefully a very long time from now. Pros: Rosalie Dingle looked great. A real-life Kleenex Tissue Dispenser! Cons: Unbearably hot in the room. Not enough parking. Terrible gravesite service w/no flowers at site Pros: Rosalie Dingle looked great. A real-life Kleenex dispenser. Cons: Not enough parking, employees not attentive, unbearably hot in room more

Flowers in a HEAP on a stranger's grave while we honoured my Grandmother... 4/14/2007

This place is one block over from where the whole family grew up, so it was chosen for my precious Grandmother's funeral. I can say that the morticians did a good job handling the preparation of my Grandmother, but during the viewing, the room became UNBEARABLY hot. I mean sweltering. The main funeral director had prior plans, so the place was being run by one of the associates, and you'd think they'd come in the viewing room once or twice to check the condition of the place, make sure the temperature was at a decent level (especially with the body being in there), but I never saw him. We were more than a little perturbed to find that they'd put the wrong birth year on her prayer cards... Then the next day at the funeral, the whole ceremony was really very rushed. I can't totally blame the funeral home. A lot of it has to do with the priest that was sent by the church (St. Michael's on Willow Ave. If you ever need a priest from there, ask for the young one, Rev. Proffitt.) What made me the most upset with Miller-Dippel is the way the flowers were handled. My Grandmother loved gardening, and her name was Rose, so there was a huge amount of totally gorgeous flowers and plants surrounding her casket. Cala lilies, red roses, carnations, begonias, every type of flower you can imagine. Well, when we got to the cemetary, I expected to see all her beautiful flowers surrounding her casket beneath the canopy. I looked around and found them laying in a heap on someone else's headstone. I mean, a HEAP. Even the ones that are supposed to be propped up on easels. Thousands of dollars in flowers in honour of her... It was deplorable. I'm sorry to write a book about it, but choosing a funeral home is important because you basically entrust them with handling your loved one's final journey and celebration. And I would recommend going to Lassahan (sic) up the street for that... Pros: Mortuary work was well done Cons: Not very compassionate or thoughtful. Business as usual.. more
