Best

Great, low-key spot to get together with friends. A little crowded, but great outdoor location makes up for it. Pros: Low-key, outdoor bar

Worst

Overall, overpriced and a bit crowded. However, the worst aspect by far was the bathroom experience. A friend complained that there was a peeping tom in the women's room and had t...

Rodent issues 9/19/2007

Stopped by for dinner and drinks tonight with a friend and was pleasantly surprised to be promptly seated in what we thought was a great, casual outdoor space. But after ordering we saw a r*t sitting on a nearby highchair. We pointed it out to a waiter who just laughed and walked away. Within the next 20 minutes we saw at least TEN MORE running all over the area: in and out of planters, on the walls, everywhere. Our entire side of the restaurant got up and left at the same time. When we asked the manager if he knew about the problem, he said ""Yes, they normally come out after dark on that side of the restaurant."" Disgusting. Don't bother. more

Retarded management.... 7/16/2007

Lets see... we found broken glass on one of the bottles of beer in our bucket of beer and chose not to finish any of the others because we werent sure where it came from. It happens, stuff gets broken... no big deal, right? Pros: Nice outdoor space Cons: Retarded service and management more

Disturbing Bathroom Experience 8/21/2006

Overall, overpriced and a bit crowded. However, the worst aspect by far was the bathroom experience. A friend complained that there was a peeping tom in the women's room and had the guy kicked out. While disturbing to hear, I thought everything would be fine after that; not the case. I was in the bathroom ALONE and caught a guy peeking around the back of the stall next to me! He was able to run out without being stopped by anyone, including the park staff that are stationed directly across the way from the restrooms. Apparently, this restroom is open to the public until a certain hour, so anyone can walk in. Girls, do not go into this restroom alone and make sure you see women coming in and out of BOTH stalls. A truly disturbing lesson. more

Get ready to hover 8/18/2005

We waited 1 hour for a table in the smoking section finally got it by hovering over a couple until they left Service was average value another 8 dollar beer joint One more issue was out in the middle of Union Square Park with a table next to us chain smoking Marlboros we were told we could not smoke a cigar because a friend of the owner has asthma and she complained Cons: expensive, crowded more

Nice Spot for the Summer 6/12/2005

Luna Park was packed with people when I went on a hot Friday night. The lack of AC and the fact that there are a million swarming bodies (although everyone is polite and no one is pushing) is a slight turn off. However, there is just something so great about being outdoors, in great landscaping, enjoying a casual drink that makes going to this place worthwhile. I didn't go there for food so I can't comment. A con was the slow bar service. A plus was the good mix of people in their twenties that provided for great eye-candy while I was there. more

Worst Restaurant in NYC 5/15/2005

I'm a 20% tipper, even when service is mediocre. This is the one time in my life where I left no tip at all. My friend and I were the ONLY 2 people in the entire place seated for dinner and after sitting there for 15 minutes, I had to walk over to our surly waiter and ask for menus. He then proceeded to be rude. We had to call him over 3 times during the meal because he gave us the wrong food, did not bring water after we asked twice, gave me the wrong drink, and did not check on us once. Then he split the bill evenly even though we had instrcuted him otherwise. When I asked to speak to a manager, he indifferently told me that there was none. Leave it to the mediocre coffee shop chain to make this nightmare into a cash cow. more

move on 9/28/2003

although this is an ideal setting for those hot new york nights, it gets way too overcrowded and loses the appeal. the service is horrible as well, probably the worst ever. Pros: outdoors, great neighborhood Cons: horrible service, overcrowded more

Pencil Necks 8/11/2003

While this place is full of young AmEx pencil necks trying to business card people, it is a great place to sit and take in a goodlooking crowd. More of a happy hour place during the summer hours. Come for a drink and see if anything is there you like, sometimes it's packed with women, others, it's not. more

Great Spot 8/10/2003

Not sure why everyone is hating this place. Had a meal with 8 people, 2 more showed up and they got another table 4 us. the food was excellent. serivce was great at the table, then they rushed us out after we payed the bill. I was ok with it, but some friends were annoyed. you can't beat the location. I did not see any mice, but if i did i would have been pissed too. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: bathrooms, Arty w/ hotties 92.3 more

All depends on when you go 11/21/2002

During the day, it's a great place to enjoy a drink on a sunny day. At night, it's a meat-market, although some might prefer that vibe. Pros: daytime Cons: crowded, public toilets??!! more

Rodent-filled 11/10/2002

After all the food complaints I read, I was pleasantly surprised by the food. It wasnt' the best, but it was passable. And the service was pretty good. BUT the mice are everywhere. An elderly tourist at the table next to me freaked out and jumped over to our table and knocked over my wine. And didn't even apologize! Just don't sit in the corner by the ivy bushes and you'll be ok...Oh, the bathrooms are pretty gross. Pros: outdoors Cons: crowded, mice more

service sucked 9/4/2002

to start off the waitress that helped us sucked royally... she took forever to get our order taken, drinks weren't always refilled when asked... the food is okay but her service really put a damper on my eating experience at luna park... more

M-O-U-S-E. 7/9/2002

The ambiance, service and drinks were all great until I noticed the hoards of MICE swarming around the steps behind me. Personally, I have a difficult time enjoying myself when all my energy is focused on keeping both feet off the ground and my eyes on the mice as they race up and down the steps, in and out of crevices and under chairs. Scary. more

Necessary Evil 7/1/2002

OK, the prices are steep, the service can be lacking to snooty, and the food isn't great (OK, I haven't eaten there in a while). But you have to love it for the location, and the outdoors. On a nice summer evening, there's no better place to unwind after work. more

to be seen 6/12/2002

convenient and comfortable but all too pretentious. kinda strange, really, with everyone looking around at each other and all wearing the same styles. but--we need a place like this in Union Square, right. nice place to chill after work for sangria and gossip Pros: good looking people, outdoor drinks Cons: attitude more
