BEST IN STATE COLLEGE 1/27/2012

I am someone who is EXTREMELY picky about hair salons. After moving here, I spent a good week reading reviews about places. Looks had the best reviews and they showed me that when I got my hair done. Rachael did my hair and is such an AWESOME hair dresser. I had a color catastrophe and needed it to be fixed and she did that and more. I can't believe how beautiful it looks. You would never know that I went in dark brunette and came out blonde. Rachael is so amazing and I would suggest her to ANYONE. She did a beautiful job, I am beyond impressed. more

caution to long hair 8/10/2011

Nice friendly people..... but if you like LONG HAIR BE CAREFUL!!! \r \r I asked for a cm off and got close to two inches off. She just kept trimming and trimming so it was hard to tell until it was over and this was all after I was told my ends looked great...oh well more

I won't go anywhere else!! 5/25/2010

Lauren has saved my hair! For the last few years, my hair has been through hell and back..over processing, terrible cuts, straightening treatments that literally fried my hair, etc. I finally found a salon where the stylists actually LISTEN to what you want and know exactly what to do. Lauren has transformed my hair, I never thought it could ever look this good again! I was lucky enough to have Sammie, Lauren, and Stacy do my hair and make-up for 2 photo shoots. They do amazing work, I would recommend them to anyone! They are extremely talented and I owe them so much! more

Lauren Vaught is an amazing stylist as well and a fantastic person. I love sitting in her chair because I know I'll come away feeling better inside and out. She has taken me from black to blonde to red and back again seamlessly! I discovered her while going to Penn State and have continued to see her exclusively even though I've lived in Washington, DC for the past 3 years! She's amazing! There are few people more important in a gal's life than her hairstylist... that's why I drive 4 hours to see mine! more

Great Place! 4/13/2010

I started going to Looks a few years ago. Everyone there is very nice and polite and they will help you with anything that you need or have questions about. I've gotten my hair done with just about every hair stylist there but I found Sammie to be able to cut my hair the best. She's a great stylist who knows what she is doing. She has a good sense of style and I can trust her to cut my hair in whatever style she thinks is best for me. I would suggest her to anyone. more

Love this place! 3/22/2009

After my last stylist moved from her salon, I was desperately in need of someone to replace her. After a few failed attempts at other salons, a friend recommended Lauren at Looks. I went in with an idea in mind and left with exactly what I had envisioned, but even better! I was thrilled, and I continue to be with every style she creates. Perfect for university students who want someone fun and stylish to maintain their hair while away from home! Don't hesitate to request her; I love this girl! more

Worth every penny! 2/18/2009

I was recently referred to Lauren at Looks downtown by a friend. I usually get my hair done at home but decided to try her out. I am so glad i did. She used to work in NYC and was very professional. She explained to me the process and cost and told me that she's a certified colorist for Redken. I love my highlights and cut! Everyone at the salon was very friendly and i would recommend any of my friends to go to Looks anytime! more

Fabulous 10/27/2008

I used to travel to different salons in Pittsburgh and Philly until I was recommended to Stacy at Looks downtown! She does a fabulous job on my color and cut and is constantly keeping my look updated with new techniques she learns from different shows and classes :D. My hair looks hotter than it ever has, never dull or boring!! The staff there is friendly, professional, highly service oriented, fun, and never pushy or pretentious. excellent coffee, wireless internet...I have recommended Stacy and Looks to all of my coworkers and friends. Im so glad I do not have to travel to the city anymore! more

Reliable and nice staff 5/9/2008

I have tried many places in this area...Designers Denn, J. Stephens, Portfolio to name a few. But for some reason I still prefer Looks over all of these. Just make sure to describe what you want, and you will get it. Or if you don't know what you want, they are happy to come up with ideas. I have seen a few different people there, but Bebe is a real sweetie. more

I have been going to Jackie for years. She is a real professional and a perfectionist about hair color and cuts. She always keeps current on the latest cuts. She can do anything! more

TERRIBLE place 12/8/2007

I went to get my bridal hair 'trial' done 2 weeks before my wedding. The stylist didn't care about what I wanted and she did such a bad job my style fell apart within 2 hours of having it done--even though I paid $80 for the trial run. The manager did not apologize and suggested it was my fault that my hair had fallen apart within 2 hours. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! Needless to say---I preferred to do my own hair for my wedding than go there. more

Don't Get a Haircut Here!!! 9/9/2007

I had all one length, past my shoulders hair when I walked in. I walked out with most of my hair gone and it looked like a mullet!! I have shorter Iayers underneath longer ones so it sticks out. I even went back for them to fix it and it only looks worse. The stylists are not qualified to charge the prices they set. I'll never let them touch my hair again. It is central PA so you won't get anything that's in style anyway. more

Great Place to Get Your Hair Done 11/19/2005

I wanted to find a place to have my hair done along with my bridesmaids. Additionally, I wanted to go to a salon that offered manicures, pedicures and makeup application. Not only was I so pleased with the way my hair, makeup and nails turn out but they were so wonderful with scheduling appointments for my wedding day. All the girls had their hair done on time. The staff were pleasant as well. I had so many compliments about my hair all day. PROS: GOOD SERVICE, ACCOMODATING WITH LARGE WEDDING PARTY CONS: NONE more

The BEST in State College! 10/25/2005

With the many hair salons in State College to choose from, Looks should be your first choice. Not only have I never had a bad haircut from here, but I have never seen anyone else walk out with a bad haircut either. I am obsessed with a hairstyle my stylist created for me the last time I was there and try to re-create it for myself on a regular basis. Bring them your tired, dull, old-fashioned hair and let them transform you immediately! PROS: Trendy professional stylists CONS: Expensive, but what you would expect from a sophisticated salon more

They do a great job styling hair at Looks Salon. I go to Billie, who always cuts very nicely. I tried about 10 stylists in State College before I found her and I won't change! more
