Editorial review from Citysearch 10/14/2013

Recently we had an emergency with our dog while visiting from out of town. I was referred to LIVS and went in with no prior knowledge of the organization. \r DR Marino and his staff not only cared for my dog but they went out of their way to keep us informed and helped us through a very tough afternoon. Due to LIVS our dog (Bosco) will be fine. \r A more professional, compassionate staff will be hard to find. \r Thank you all!!!\r Dana E.\r Salem AL.\r more

The Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) are a very special and caring group of veterinarians. Our research lab, the Computer Vision and Image Processing Laboratory at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, has been actively engaged in research with LIVS for a number of years. We have been continually impressed with their ability to consistently sustain cutting edge research while maintaining one of the best veterinary clinics in the nation. We have seen that they provide the most compassionate and excellent care available. It has often been a source of amusement that during some of our critical and important research meetings we are often interrupted by Dr. Marino’s need to serve a patient – it is clear that the priority here is to take the best care of the animals as is humanly possible. Even though Dr. Marino and LIVS are very involved with state-of-the-art research the priority for the care of the patients is evident. \r \r During the course of our research over the past 30 years we have been involved with a number of medical facilities and I have never seen one that does such an excellent job of serving all their clientele so effectively. I believe it is primarily due to the dedication of Dr. Marino and his staff, their genuine concern for the animals, as well as their human families, is second to none. Additionally, with access to and direct involvement in current research, the facility is in a unique position to provide their patients with diagnostics and treatments not available anywhere else in the world. Additionally, the concern to keep costs down is paramount as evidenced by our research to facilitate bringing more cost effective diagnostics into the clinic. Specifically, the research and development of thermographic image analysis will lead to much more cost effective diagnostic imaging methods than are currently available. If you care about your pets, LIVS is certainly the best choice for veterinary care.\r \r more

Did Not Allow My Casey To Suffer 4/30/2012

I wanted to thank Dr. Marino, Dr Loughin, all the other doctors and nursing staff who took care of Casey during her illness, and especially Dr Ireifej- who (I believe) was with her at the end. There are no words that can describe the loss we feel, but I know that all along, the LIVS staff gave her the best possible care. I feel comforted knowing that she was in good hands - kind hands that did not allow her to suffer and gave her the love and attention she needed up to her last moments. She will live in my heart forever and I will always be grateful to you and your staff. There was so much that they did for our family especially giving us those last few precious months after the radiation. We didn?t realize at the time just how cherished they would be. more

Dr Infernuso the Magnificent 10/4/2011

Not only is this doctor a professional but a genuinely caring human being who puts people & their pets before anything else. Our 5 yr old Mastiff Daisy had a terrible reaction to an anti-inflammatory that caused her to go into complete liver failure. Together over 3 months & countless visits she pulled through. A tremendous doctor & valued friend more

Dr. Sapienza 9/19/2011

I just came across photos of the Fawns I rescued a few summers ago. I had the pleasure and I do mean pleasure of being chosen to volunteer at Fawn Haven. We had a fawn that was born blind and a dear friend of mine suggested LIVS..Enter Dr. Sapienza..a true hero and a man born with remarkable skills.. It was quite a meeting for both. While there I noticed the staff and their energy with one another. I met Dr. Len Marino the owners Dad who educated me on this great animal hospital and all of the work they do in research.Over the past 2 summers I receive a newsletter which prompted me to write about this wonderful facility and all they do for our friends. An animals purpose is to be a part of our life and to just love us back.. I do not hesitate to recommend this fine hospital. more

Amazing!! 6/16/2011

When my dog Bubbles was attacked and mauled she was on the brink of death. Her wounds were life-threatening, and she needed immediate care and many surgeries. I rushed her to Long Island Vet Specialists where they immediately began working on her. Her surgeon Dr. Infernuso, is nothing short of a miracle-worker. He operated on Bubbles for many hours that day, and performed life saving surgery. Dr. Infernuso kept me informed of Bubbles condition via phone two times a day, while she was still in critical condition after surgery. He explained all the procedures that were performed, answered all of my questions, and was so caring and compassionate. I cannot put into words the gratitude that I have for Dr. Infernuso and all of the wonderful support staff at Long Island Vet Specialists. They were so caring and gave my Bubbles the best possible treatment that she could receive. If it were not for Dr. Infernuso I may not have my Bubbles with me today. Dr. Infernuso met with me each time we had to go back for bandage changes. He took the time to talk with me and reassure me of Bubbles recovery process. I would highly recommend that if your animal needs surgery to go to Long Island Vet Specialists and see Dr. Infernuso. more

Veterinary Office 9/27/2008

Where do I begin. I have been there several times with 2 Shihtzus. Every visit has been exceptional. They diagnose and treat like no other office I have been too. Once I was charged for a procedure in full and once the Doctor got a closer look at my baby while she was under anesthesia . they decided we could treat her with medication instead of surgery - refunded my money. If your vet is treating your pet more than once for the same problem - get a referal here. If your vet tells you your pet has glucoma - Go to Dr. Sapienza for a 2nd opinion. You could save his/her sight! THEY ARE THE BEST!!! Pros: Everything more
