you guys are racists. never going back!\r I went in 03-09-13 to take my parents to dinner. The snotty hostess and old man that worked there were rude and made me and my family feel unwelcome. After we arrived, she told me that the wait time for a party of 3 would be 45 minutes, three minutes later a WHITE family of FOUR came in and she told them 'it will be a 30 minute wait'. i tried to overlook this. as i kept waiting, larger parties kept coming in(white people) and they would be seated first despite the fact that my family and i had arrived before them. the old man(i guess manager or owner) was handing out water to people(again white people) waiting but didn't offer any to my family. the snotty hostess would give me a dirty look every now and then & snap 'can i help you?'. Finally i said 'f--k this,i am not letting these racists take my money,i can tell we are not welcome' and we left. it's a shame.\r this isn't 'slander' by any means, this was an awful and unfortunate experience. if people are allowed to post postive reviews on this page, then people should be allowed to post the negative as well. your lack of concern really cannot 'fix this problem' at this point. more

Excellent pizzas and some of the best meat balls in town! more

Delightful dining experience 10/6/2010

I am new to San Antonio, and I was thrilled to be introduced to Little Italy. The restaurant's interior reminds me of a cute little Italian restaurant I used to go to when I was growing up in Chicago. We were warmly greeted at the door, and led to a cozy booth for two. The service was excellent, and the pizza was absolutely delicious. Being able to carry on a conversation at dinner is very important to me, and the ambiance is just right. I have nothing but good things to say about this charming Italian restaurant, and will be a regular from now on. more

Cheapened Down 4/18/2010

My husband & I really thought they ""cheapened down"" their product(s). The fried calimari appetizer we ordered used to be fresh fried calimari. Now it seems like they buy a pre-made bag of frozen battered calamari in bulk from Sysco & fry it up. And the marinera sauce that came w/ the calimari was like chunky ketchup & tabasco sauce. The margherita pizza was the only good thing. And even that didn't have fresh garlic on it like I had ordered. It was jarred diced-up garlic. Probably won't go back. They didn't even offer me a drink while I waited for my order (that should have been done because I ordered ahead of time for pick-up). They wanted to charge me $2.95 for an iced-tea! Pros: pizza was pretty good more

solid A- 3/1/2010

We've been 3 times in the last 3 months. The food was great all 3 times, it tasted home made or at least prepared fresh. The salads, soups and bread were decent also...especially the chicken and vegetable soup! The servic was a bit inconsistent, you do have to track down the waiters sometimes...weekdays are not as much fun, weekends seem better or at least we felt the service was more attentive. Other than that, great place to take visitors from out of town, great food and a homey feel from the management/ownership. Pros: good food, home cooked feel, good atmosphere Cons: Service is not consistent from night to night more

great Italian restaurant! 7/29/2009

We have been to Little Italy approximately 6 times since finding it 6 months ago. We love their food---and prices are fair. One of our favorite restaurants in San Antonio! We have taken several family members to Little Italy when they have visited and all have been impressed. Pros: great itialian food more

This Paesan Gets 2 Thumbs UP!!! 12/1/2008

Pizza...Pizza ...Pizza! If you are looking for a true ITALIAN PIZZA, then this is the place for you! Pros: Reasonably priced, quaint ambience, sounds of italians in the air Cons: Isn't close enough to my house more

nice family owned place 3/22/2008

I've been a few times (would go more if I lived closer) and have really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It is a small and cozy place and is great for a casual bite to eat or a romantic dinner for two. The appetizers were good and they bring a free slice of cheese pizza before your meal. I have not tried the other pizza, but the entrees are good. Pros: ambience, service more

Good Food and Great price 12/9/2007

I am from New York and one of the things I miss is good pizza and Italian. I was starting to get worried since people keep giving me suggestions and they all missed the mark. But I have to say I really enjoyed little Italy. When you go they give everyone a small taste of their pizza which I hear is the best. The pizza was great but I tried the stuffed shells because no one makes that or manicotti around here. The portions are smaller than most restaurants but just right. We eat too much food anyway. We also tried the tortellini, baked ziti and sausage and meatballs. Everything was awesome. Don't let the outside judge the food on the inside. I would definitely go back and try again but next time it will be all about the pizza..... more

Best pizza in San Antonio. 8/16/2007

That's all we've had so far and looking forward to more. The large 18 inch is huge and filling. We think it is what pizza was meant to be like. Forget Papa Johns. more

Old School, dominent dough flavor style pizza 8/13/2007

It is an old school place. Similar to European style dining. One of the better Italian restaurants in SA. Portions of appetizers, slaads/soups, and desserts are small Prices are average (recently increased). The bread is baguette/French style like in Europe. Little Italy's bread is good quality though. Pizza has what I call a ""dominent dough flavor(DDF)."" In DDF pizza, the taste of the ingrediants blend into the taste of the dough, resulting in a powerful doughy taste. This taste has existed in Tony's, Tombstone, and various other ready-to-go oven/microwave pizzas however, on a much lower scale. Their tomato sauce and gravy are execellent. Strong veal, spinach, and pasta. Choices of sauces are given for pastas. Caesar salad is strong. The desserts are delicticious but small. Service is OK if present at the right time, when it is not packed. Personally, I am being objective, I do not like this place that much because I am too american style fickeled and prefere more quantity in servings. I despise baguette/french bread and I do not like the ddf style of pizza, though theirs are good. My favorite places currently are Pompeii (slightly better quality and grater quantity for slightly lower price) for fine dining. Pizabella is my prime parlor for pizza. Pros: Tomato sauce, gravy, pasta, and veal Cons: Price for quantity and Bread more

Best Italian food in town. 2/27/2007

I love Little Italy. I've been there a million times and have always left happy. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and they serve you a complimentary slice of cheese pizza! The resturaunt is owned by an Italian family and they're very nice people. I do not eat at any other Italian resturaunt in San Antonio because they pale in comparison. This is the best Italian food I've ever had and I wish they could duplicate it and put one in Austin. :) more

HORRIBLE FOOD 8/15/2006

On 8/15/2006 I went to this famous place and expected too much plus our meal took over an hour to arrive; I ordered eggplant with proscuitto, sounds good. Well it wasn't the menu said thinly sliced eggplant with the famous ham that is supposed to be pink and almost transluscent. When it came it was the thickest eggplant parmagiana with spoiled meat covered in cheese and sauce, breaded and oh yea and it was not hot, aleast not 150 degrees. I wuld have said something but the waiter never came back until the bill. AWWWW this place may have been great at one time but is nowhere in the realms of Piccolo's! Please don't bother and if you do get pizza but then again go to Florio's or Maria's Pizza for that. Cons: too many to count more

My absolute favorite! 3/23/2006

Beautiful setting, fantastic food, delctable pasteries, great wine selection, good service...need I say more? more

Excellent 11/30/2005

Great place to go for a meal or a glass of wine. You can tell this place is family owned. If the guy in the kitchen speaks Italian, and the staff speaks Italian, it must be Italian! Oh, and by the way, the ""person"" that criticized saying that the Calimai was ""rubbery""...DUHHH! When is Calamari NOT rubbery? The Cioppino is a bargain and the hostess is the mostest! Pros: Food, Wine, Staff more
