Best

Enjoy a sandwich or crispy thin crust pizza with neighbors on Little Deli's great patio. One of the best neighborhood delis in town.

Worst

I hate to do this, cause I LOVE the pizza. However, I just cannot support a business owner who treats their employees so badly. This is Austin, and it is just not in our culture...

Good sandwiches and pizza. However, I was there for lunch today and was really disturbed when a customer used the soda machine to fill her filthy doggie bowl with water by sticking it directly under the water dispenser.....GROSS. Afterwards, she set the dirty doggie bowl on a table next to the dispenser containing the drinking straws and napkins for customers- very unsanitary. I mean, what was this women thinking? more

All the food is DELICIOUS 2/23/2011

Within the first bite of the pizza I knew I was in good hands. The pizza had such great texture and taste. The bottom of the thin crust pizza had a fantastic crunch, while the top had a great combination of mozzarella and blue cheeses. I also had the Classic Italian Sub, which according to Tony the owner, is authentic Jersey Shore Italian Goodness. The sandwich had delicious slices of salami, ham, pepperoni, and provolone. While mid-sandwich, the Little's owner come out and offer us a cupcake. We may have chatted with Tony for close to 20 minutes at the deli's outdoor picnic area. I was really impressed by Tony as he made a serious effort to learn all of our names at the table, and his earnestness was seen in the repoire he displayed with other customers around the picnic table area. I really enjoyed dining at Little Deli. If you're looking for a good slice, head on up to the deli (where the picnic area is BYOB) and make a point to introduce yourself to Tony. The guy is in the business to bring great food to customers he cares about getting to know. more

Boycott! 10/23/2010

I hate to do this, cause I LOVE the pizza. However, I just cannot support a business owner who treats their employees so badly. This is Austin, and it is just not in our culture. I've noticed this ever since Tony became the owner. Things got much, much better when Jay became the manager of the lunch shift. But sadly, Jay is gone. Why you ask??? Well, that may be a better question for Tony. Have you noticed that you no longer see the owners/employees of the other nearby businesses at the Little Deli? That is because they see how Tony treats his employees every day, and they just can't stomach the thought of giving him any money. Ask them sometime about the yelling in the alley. Ask them what happens before the deli opens everyday. Ask them about the cookie eaten by one of his employees. And to not give someone a vacation for 2 years-- someone who works on average 60 hours a week and would give you the shirt off his back?? Just disgusting. That being said, I LOVE local businesses, I love the pizza (I wish the sandwiches were made like Lucretia used to do them,) but the JERSEY ATTITUDE has to go. When I see the other Crestview businesses giving Tony their business, I'll know there has truly been a change and will be very happy to give him my business again. And Ladies- if that wasn't enough...... I overheard Tony interviewing a young man for a job. He said that he was very happy that a man applied, because men just work harder than women. Ick! Why hasn't this man been sued yet? more

The BEST DELI in Austin! 1/22/2009

Little Deli is an adorable little lunch spot in the heart of Crestview. Sandwiches are served on fresh bread piled high with razor-thin sliced meat and the freshest of vegetables. I have eaten here at least 100 times and never been disappointed. Excellent Reubens, awesome Roast Beef or Ham and Cheddar, and an absolutely amazing Classic Italian sub. Since changing owners about a year ago, the soups have gotten even better (especially the Broccoli, Cheese and Rice), but the sandwiches have remained the same superb quality they have always been. Also, there is a special meal every few days, my favorite being Crispy Taco Day, which is every other Thursday. If you have not been here, you must try it once. I guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face. Pros: Excellent service, speed, accuracy, quality and consistency. Cons: They are supposed to start being open on evenings and weekends, but currently are not. more

Just plain good sandwiches 7/18/2007

The Little Deli is one of the best sandwich shops in Austin. The owner will greet you like a long time friend and the sandwiches are great. I try really hard not to get the ruben every time that I go there, but most times I fail because that is a good one. It's in a nice old 50's style shopping center with plenty of parking. If you have not tried this place yet and have lived in Austin very long, then you are missing out. Pros: Great ingredients, Great food, Great service. Cons: Might not be the best place if it is raining. more

Love at every bite... 1/27/2007

I absolutely love their sandwiches, and their potato salad is the best I've ever had in a restaurant!!! I've been cooking professionally for a long time now, and will always recommend this place. Pros: Their food Cons: Their size and location more

roast beef lover's heaven! 9/13/2005

This place is a paradise for sandwich lovers, especially roast beef! The roast beef is rare, lean and top of the line--no gummy, shaved shoe leather here! Get avocado added to your sandwich and ask them to grill it for you! Deviled eggs are usually available on modays and tuesdays, and the deserts are wonderful! The staff is friendly and will remember your name. Pros: friendly staff, personal service, great food Cons: short hours, not enough seating, a little bit pricey more

Delicious 6/19/2005

I was hesitant to try Little Deli at first because of its plain jane name, however that taught me to never judge a book by its cover. The food is delicious my favorite item being the grilled cheese with mixed cheeses. The only con to this restaurant is once you try one of their grilled cheeses you will never want to eat a grilled cheese anywhere else! more

Best deli period! 8/14/2002

This small corner deli has the best deli sandwiches I have ever had anywhere! There is not a sandwich they make that does not make an A+. I can't believe it isn't already rated higher -- come lunch time, there is always a line out the door. My co-workers and I drive 30 minutes there and back (thus an hour and a half lunch) during our lunch break to have this delicious meal. And the ""mom and pop"" atmosphere is right at home in Austin, TX. Truly the best deli in Austin. Pros: Owner will remember, your name after your, first visit!! Cons: Not open long enough! more

A funky, friendly deli 8/13/2002

A small family-owned deli in a small strip center in North Austin (also home to one of the few remaining independent grocery stores), Little Deli is opened 7-3 weekdays. It has good breakfast foods(incredible biscuits), but the sandwiches are the star. Roast beef with horseradish mayo, a club to die for, homemade desserts (as long as they last), and a really neat downhome atmosphere, where everybody does seem to know everybody's name. more
