The location is great, but I've got an idea to help drastically improve the somewhat out-dated shopping mall. My idea would be to completely redevelop Lincolnwood as an open-air "lifestyle" center (which is really how a "Town Center" should be), rivalling Glenview's "The Glen Town Center", Schaumburg's "The Streets of Woodfield" (which formerly rivaled the present Lincolwood, as "One Schaumburg Place" until late-1990s), etc. Many of the mall's existing tenants could remain, but be housed in new and improved spots. This idea could really bust a good move for the economy, especially considering that Lincolnwood is an established mall and is still surviving, despite being out-dated.
Everybody who I've talked to regarding this totally agrees with me. But the problem is simply that the general public doesn't bother to express their thoughts, ideas and opinions to the "appropriate" people (in this case, it would be the Simon Property Group, Inc.) and just leave it inside of them, thinking that they are only one person and their voice won't make any difference. With an attitude like that, nothing is ever going to change. The people are wrong in a big way, because if only everybody spoke up, the world would be an entirely different place...and Lincolnwood probably would have gone "lifestyle" by now. And I am proud to say that I voiced my opinion to the appropriate people long before I wrote this.
