We have eaten at Limoncello's a number of times and have always enjoyed it. One attraction is that the menu carries non-Italian dishes for those - not us - who are not fans of Italian food. The act of the bus boy who ""accidentally"" tries to serve you bottled water even if you specifically have asked for tap water is getting old! If you insist on speaking the language ""of the locals"", try Spanish rather than Italian. No big deal. We will be back. Ciao e c'vediamo! I have lived in the North End for 5 years and decided to try Limoncello on Saturday night after hearing how great the food was. My husband and I had an 8pm reservation but after arriving on time, were ushered to the back of the restaurant to a cramped makeshift bar/coat room area and told to wait. We glanced around the room to see about 6 other couples who had obv. been waiting a lot longer then us, all with P'd off expressions on their faces. After about 20mins the manager tried to make nice with complimentary cheap glasses of chianti but the goodwill gestures died down around the 40min mark. I decided to check out where we would be potentially sitting and spotted the 2-tops squished among larger tables of 8 all on top of one another. How romantic! It became clear the greedy manager had overbooked and wanted to pack as many people in there as possible. The combination of being treated like cattle with the garish murals on the wall more suited to Olive Garden was the final push we needed to get up and leave! Pros: Carmen is next door more

What a fabulous restaurant and exceptional dining experience. If you truly want traditional italian a reasonable price this is the place in the city. Very nice restaurant, great locatiion and fun with great service. more

The atmosphere is not as nice as the prices suggest. ( stains in the ceiling tiles, lights flickering, flatware that is $8.00 a dozen) But the food. oh the food. The bread is amazing. Best caesar salad I have ever had. When my spaghetti was served, it looked like something you would get at a high school cafeteria, cheap bowl, thick spaghetti with sauce on top. But let me tell you, looks can be deceiving. It was by far the best pasta and sauce I have ever had. My wife got pasta in a cream sauce, and again we both agreed, it was by far the best either of us have ever had. Plain and simple, IF YOU LOVE GOOD FOOD, YOU'LL LOVE THIS PLACE. Well done. I recently went to this restaurant and wasn't disappointed. The staff was very courteous and came by every once in a while to check on how things were, etc. I had the lobster ravioli which was homemade and incredible. Small portions, but there were about 8-9 raviolis and I couldn't even eat all of them (I get overwhelmed when I have a humungous plate of food in front of me, so it was perfect for me). I went to Limoncello for an early dinner before a concert in the garden. The place was busy but unlike other places in the north end you didn't feel like you are in a packed elevator. We started with the stuffed artichokes and it was quite good. I had the Black squid ink Fettucine pasta with Maine Lobster meat which was very delicious. I also loved their homemade Tiramasu. The decor is not very fancy, but the restaurant is very comfortable. I would resommend this place for a good italian meal. Their Limoncello drink is also not to be missed! Take it from an Italian New Yorker, this was a wonderful meal. Four of us walked in on an Wed. evening, with no reservation, and were promptly seated. The gorgonzola cheese in the appetizer we ordered was incredible. The veal marsala was one of the best I've ever had! My wife's veal chop was superb. Our seasoned waiter, Antonio, from Genoa, Italy, was fantastic. Besides serving us promptly, he was friendly and humorous. The busboy made sure our (tap) water glasses were never empty. Forced to wait in cramped coat room area for 45 mins, although we had a reservation. The tables were on top of one another - appeared as though they didn't want to turn anyone away, so they overbooked because it was Valentine's Day. The cheese platter wasn't worth the $15, and other than the bread and caesar salad, the meals were mediocre. There are many places in the area with much better food at a lower price. The ambiance was loud - had to practically yell across the table to carry on a conversation. NOT romantic. I'd recommend heading to Piccola Venecia or Dolce Vita (both on Hanover St.) instead. The food was great everything with a hint of lemon zing. Service was good but could have more prompt. The atmosphere was nice except the large room grows noise and the music was turned up to be heard over the crowd. Make sure not to get the table in the middle of the walkway as the staff and patrons will be bumping into you all through your dinner. I would go back but probably not on a weekend. Limoncello's is an above average restaurant. Though they only have a wine menu; but a good one and no valet parking (both would increase their apeal to a broader group) - this a restaurant that on three separate occasions has served excellent Italian food - accommodated a large group from my Company at one time - and each time consistently provided professional yet friendly service, good food and a staff that was polite yet concerned if a good time was had - I would recommend this restaurant Cons: only wine, no valet parking more

with so many great choices in the city to eat i will never give them my patronage. they refused to accomodate vegetarians in our party, stating, ""we don't usually get many""...how difficult is this for an italian restaurant? i've eaten at fine establishments (even steakhouses) around the world that have been so much more accomodating for special requests. more

Right now, I'm all about Limoncello. I went for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and went back 2 wks later (I'm from RI so I don't always feel like driving an hour for dinner). The rosette pasta is sublime. The selection of wine-by-the-glass is nothing spectacular but tasty and inexpensive. Great service, beginning right at the front door. I find the whole experience to be much more than the prices on the menu would indicate. Only thing I didn't like was being asked if we wanted still, sparkling or tap water, telling them tap TWICE, still having bottled water poured. The gentleman doing the pouring either didn't speak english or pretended not to and continued to pour. The $5 charge on the bill was not a big deal, but for the principle involved, we asked to have it removed (which it was, w/out question). more

We had a fantastic dining experience last evening at Limoncello. The stuffed artichoke appetizer was yummy (not nuked!) & the veal melted in my mouth! Service was superb. Our waiter was both informative and charming. Red gravy rivals my grandmother's! We'll be back! more

The Stuffed artichoke was cold with some hot parts and not very good; must have been nuked - a 15$ appetizer should NOT be nuked. Zuppa de Pesce was overcooked - clams and mussels were sandy and chewy; squid and shrimp were chewy; half lobster with shell nice presentation but not necessary and messy - very disappointing for a 30$ entree. Waitress not helpful, just blamed the kitchen and had a bad attitude. more
