Best

Its nice to be able to window shop some place, they are quite unique and got a lot of good options to work with

Worst

You would think by going at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon there would be parking somewhere other than in the (overpriced) cave. I drove for 15 minutes to park for 3 disappointing min...

Unfriendly to kids 8/24/2002

Stores are ok. A few unique items. All stores have quality and pricy goods. Biggest problem is with Gateway managers or whoever makes decisions about the public areas. They build a great fountain that attracts kids and families. One of the best public spaces in the city. Then management gets confused. The road near the fountain is closed to traffic, then after kids get used to running across the street, they open it to traffic again. After letting kids play in the fountain all summer, now they say no dancing in the fountain. SLC is not Provo. It's clear from the kinds of stores and their policies toward families that they don't want kids there. So much for families heading downtown on the weekend. I think the owners forgot they built the place in Utah. Wonder what they'll do with the space when it closes down. Pros: Open air, well maintained, some unique stores Cons: unfocused management, insensitive to kids, bizarre parking flow more

great shopping trip 8/23/2002

i love this place..great atmosphere. I love the mix of high end and low end stores. Such a variety. more

atmosphere 8/13/2002

Upbeat and trendy, Gateway has the best of an outdoor adventure, all stores within short walking distance from each other. The fun is in the atmosphere created and the variety of stores. There is much to see and to do, as well as shop for the newest and hippest items on your list. more

Sometimes newer is better 8/9/2002

I like this ""MALL"" because it is outdoors and not in some dark sunless cave like the other ""Malls"" here in Salt Lake City. I get to shop, get fresh air, and excercise too. more

Lots to See! 7/31/2002

Gateway's great--if it's not to hot or cold! I recommend going there in the evening. The water show is fun, especially if you have kids. But it is a shopping area, so it's a lot more fun if you have money! more

FANTABULOUS ATMOSPHERE! 6/21/2002

The Gateway has been open for around eight months now, and I have loved every experience that I have had down there. I love the big city feeling that I get when I am down there. Not ""big city"" feeling that many people would imagine, but just something that Salt Lake has not ever experienced before. Atleast not in my time. I love the stores, although many of them are somewhat ""yuppy"", I enjoy not many of the pointless stores that I see at the other malls in Salt Lake. My favorite store down there is Breaking the Mold, it is a beautiful candle store with great merchandise. I recommend it to any candle lovers. Pros: good parking, beautiful, restored Cons: a little pricey more

Great catalog stores 6/21/2002

The new architecture looks kind of cheap, but I like the open feel and the cobblestone streets. And the catalog stores are just what the downtown retail area needed--I just wish they could have done something similar with Main Street. Nice variety of restaurants. Pros: Parking, Good stores Cons: Tight parking lot more

Where are the crowds 5/16/2002
