I have been seeing doctor Stephens for many years and I don't understand the ones that gave bad reviews. She always listens to my problems and she makes you feel very comfortable and takes her time with you. Her staff has always been helpful and polite also. more

HORRIBLE DOCTOR!! I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO HER EVER AGAIN. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS DOCTOR.\r \r EVERY TIME I CALL THE OFFICE, IT'S CLOSED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY AN OFFICE IS ALWAYS CLOSED. MAKES ME WONDER IF THE OFFICE IS EVEN A LEGIT OFFICE. THE RECEPTIONIST IS ESPECIALLY RUDE BUT THE OTHER STAFF ARE NICE. OTHER THAN THAT, DR. STEPHENS TALKS SO LOUD I CAN HEAR HER TALKING TO A PATIENT IN THE NEXT ROOM AND I'M SURE THAT PATIENT CAN HEAR EVERYTHING SHE TELLS ME AS WELL. more

Rude , Heartless, and cold. 2/15/2012

Staff with the exception of one nurse by the name Gail is rude. Dr. Stephens talk really loud so whatever she is discussing with her patient is no longer confidential. Dr. Stephens lacks empathy and treat you as if you are just a patient she will receive income for. I have never felt so disturbed by a medical professional until I visit this Dr. Office. I understand that she is not a therapist and/or a counselor, but I am sure being empathetic was emphasized when she was pursuing her medical career. She is very cut and dry. Very very very very rude. Pros: null Cons: null more

Love this office and doctor! 6/21/2011

I simply can't believe the one review where the lady says that Dr. Stephens was rude and rough and that she and her staff were anything but nice. They are a fun group of women who truly care about their patients, not just the gynecologic health and well being of the patient but also how things are going for their jobs, families, etc. They try to have fun while doing their jobs. I have seen and heard Dr. Stephens work with young girls who are scared to death to be examined as well as women of all ages with problems and concerns. Even when the patient is being unreasonable and difficult (in my estimation), Dr. Stephens tries to remain calm and reassuring and helpful. We have to remember that everyone has good and bad days, even doctors, so sometimes people just may not respond to every person the way she expects. I usually am able to get in and out of the office quickly, but sometimes the doctor has had an emergency to deal with or a patient requiring more time and attention and I will have to wait a bit longer. In those cases, she always apologizes for the wait, tries to explain the reason for the delay, and then turns all of her attention to me and any problem that I am having. more

Awful...just awful 5/9/2011

My visit to this office was an absolute nightmare. I showed up fifteen minutes early to my appointment and still waited an hour. While waiting, I overheard the nurses and receptionist gossiping about other people in the building. At one point a man walked in. I think he worked somewhere close by. But the entire staff swarmed him and began flirting with him. I have never in my entire life seen grown professional women reduced to giggling school girls the way these women were. When I finally got called back the nurse was loud and obnoxious. She took minimal information before going back to the front desk to gossip. I waited another fifteen minutes before Dr. Stephens came in. more

Awesome lady 4/27/2011

I have been a patient of Dr. Stephens for 4 years. I had continuous bleeding problems and saw her many times in one year (I told her if we kept meeting like this, I'd have to take her to dinner). She worked very hard to get my problem under control and never made me feel like I was a bother. more

LOVE Dr. Stephens! 1/18/2011

Dr. Stephens was my doctor in Huntersville and saved my life! After that I decided to make her my new OB-GYN. She later moved offices to Charlotte, but now that I live in Charlotte I am definitely going back to her. I actually did a city search on my area to see what the best rated OB-GYN was and go figure, Dr. Stephens! more

Old fashioned caring 7/7/2009

when i moved here from NYC, i asked around for a good GYN, many women mentioned Laurel, that was 8 years ago and i'm still with them. The staff is dedicated, friendly and well trained. Dr. Stephens takes her time with you, she doesn't rush thru her exams, she looks you straight in the eye, chats a while.. like i said old fashioned caring, something lacking in these big franchised like practices.. much love to Dr. S and her staff. Pros: small practice Cons: small practice more

Caring Doctor, Serene Visit 12/13/2008

Dr. Kathryn Stephens is professional, bright & affable. I like the new location. Wait time was minimal. I have seen her for many years and trust her with my medical care. more

Stay away from Dr. Stephens 8/23/2008

Right after I found out I was pregnant I was rushed to the hospital with complications. After I was released Dr. Stephens did not feel it necessary to see me. I even wrote her a letter describing how disappointed I was in the handling of the situation and never heard from her. more

Stay away from Dr. Stephens 8/23/2008

With my first pregnancy I ended up in the hospital with raised hives all over my hospital, having trouble breathing, etc. When I was released Dr. Kathryn Stephens did not even want to see, the office staff said unless I was bleeding there was no need to see me. I even wrote her a detailed letter explaining my disappointment in my experience.....never heard back from her. more

The Most Phenomenal Ob/Gyn Around 6/12/2008

I am truly amazed! This was my first experience at Laurel Ob/Gyn Associates and I highly recommend it to anyone. Walking into the building you feel like you have just entered a tropical resort as there are skylights above you and plants on either side of the walkway. The building may be older, but it definitely has not lost its charm! Dr. Stephen's office is also very comfortable and welcoming. The receptionist and nurses were super friendly and polite. It felt like visiting an old friend rather than a trip to the doctor! Dr. Stephens definitely exceeded my expectations too, (which is unbelievable because I had already heard she was fantastic)! Obviously no one enjoys having to go to the gynecologist, but she definitely put my mind at ease, and made me feel so much better overall. I left there feeling happy and relaxed, and I was then, conveniently, able to walk right into the pharmacy to fill my prescription since it was connected to the building. The people in the pharmacy were equally as inviting and sincere, making this entire experience wonderful. There is no need to waste your time going to a condescending or preoccupied doctor in Charlotte as long as Laurel Ob/Gyn Associates is here. I wish them all the best, and I can't thank them enough! Pros: super nice staff, caring doctor, comfortable waiting room, convenient pharmacy. Cons: Slightly long wait, though nothing too unbearable. It was definitely worth the wait, though! more

Great OB/Gyn 12/3/2007

First time reviewer here, but wanted to share my experience because it can be hard to find a good doctor in Charlotte. more

Best doctor in Charlotte 12/17/2006

Dr. Kathryn Stephens is a doctor for you if you want someone who care about you, who can correctly diagnose your conditions, and can help you through any difficult time with compassion and humor. Ten years ago I was diagnosed with endometriosis and uterine fibroids that another doctor has recommended a hysterectomy. Dr. Stephens performed the surgery that not only helped me rid of painful conditions but she went the extra mile to save my uterus for the possibility of having children. When I did try to have children and was having problem with fertility, Dr. Stephens help me through it with wonderful bed side manner. I now have 2 beautiful children that I would not have without the help of Dr. Stephen. Pros: Compassionate, Competence, Funny, Short waiting time Cons: None more

Best Ob/Gyn doctor in Charlotte, NC 12/17/2006

Dr. Kathryn Stephens is definitely the best Ob/Gyn doctor in Charlotte, NC. Ten years ago, I was dianosed with endometriosis and uterine fibroids. She performed the surgery that not only helped me with my painful conditions but she also went the extra mile to save my uterus so that it could still be possible for me to have children. Of course she could not promise me that for certtain. She helped me with fertility issues when I did try to conceive. She was the most conforting, compassionate, and humorous doctor I have ever known. I now have 2 beautiful children(now 7 and 8 years old) and I have Dr. Stephens to thank for it. She also was responsible for delivering both of my children. If you want a doctor who cares about your well being as a women, who will help you through any difficult time, and who can bring humor into your life when the odds are against you...get an appointment with Dr. Stephens. more

Fabulous Dr 4/19/2006

Dr. Stephens is a fabulous doctor with a patient, down-to-earth approach to you and your family members. She identified a dermoid cyst that other doctors never found, but was making me crazy. She took me through surgery and kept my very concerned husband, and overly-inquisitive former nurse mom comfortable and at ease through the whole experience. She's well worth the trip downtown and the sometimes longer wait. Pros: Caring staff, Great bedside manner, Staff is all Female Cons: Parking deck/location more

A doctor and her staff who truly care 2/8/2006

I ended up at Laurel OBGYN because I was not satisfied with a diagnosis I recieved from another doctor. I went to Dr. Stephens for a second opinion. The staff was able to get me in for an appointment with no problem. The doctor listened to my concerns and did my yearly pap exam. She took me back in her office while she looked up information about the right medication to prescribe. Highly recommended. Pros: good listener, kind bedside manner, wonderful staff Cons: located downtown, visit felt rushed more

Dr. Stephens is the best! 2/23/2004

Dr. Stephens at Laurel Ob/Gyn Associates is one of the best gynecologists Ive ever had. It is no fun for any woman to go for annual exams, but Dr. Stephens relaxed my nerves and answered all my questions carefully and thoughtfully. I cant remember the last time a doctor spent so much time with me. She even took me into her office after my exam to talk about some further testing she wanted, what the tests were, etc. I had to wait awhile (45 minutes) to see her, but if she treats all her patients with such respect and takes the time to answer all their questions as she did mine, I think its worth the wait. The office itself is kind of run-down, old, and not easy to find, but I will definitely go back for future exams. Pros: Fantastic doctor, Very respectful Cons: , Long wait to see her more
