A taste of Barcelona 8/3/2007

This place is pretty similar to a random little eatery in Barcelona. The tapas are of very good quality and so is the Sangria. Just like in Spain, of course, the sangria has much more ice than fruit, but it tastes pleasant nonetheless. I would recommend the shrimp. The sardines are tasty but very bony. The prices are reasonable, but don't come too hungry. This is really a bar with excellent bar food. more

Excellent tapas with even better service 7/31/2007

If tapas and sangria are your thing, then you must visit Las Ramblas. The food is amazing, so flavorful. The portions are great for tapas, and the service cannot be topped. The host apologized for the wait to be seated, and we only had to wait five minutes. This is a great tapas experience, with unpretentious service from servers who never lose their cool, even as the restaurant heats up. I've tried great tapas places, like Euzkadi, Pipa and Azafran, but this definitely tops them all. Pros: great food, service and value Cons: very small, not good for groups more

Best Sangria ever 7/18/2007

Great experience! Excellent Staff. Delicious Tapas, and the best Sangria I have ever had, even better than the one made in my country!!!! more

Great experience - we'll return. 7/7/2007

Food was delicious (we tried 6 tapas, including grilled octopus, chorizo, meatballs, and omelette, which were all wonderful). Selection of wines by the glass was very good. Even in a small, busy space, the service was extremely attentive and friendly. We will be back! Pros: Food, service Cons: A little bit cramped more

Perfect date spot 2/26/2007

Las Ramblas is fantastic. It's a little shocking how small it is, but in the end, that was the best part! I came here on a date and had a fabulous time. It was easy to talk, the wait staff was very attentive, and they have an incredible Spanish wine list. I get so tired of the pretensious, over-priced and loud, trendy restaurants in the city. If you are looking for a quieter, well-priced tapas bar with great atmosphere, this is it! Pros: Food, Service, Wine, Small atmosphere Cons: Very tiny space more

Tiny and fantastic 1/19/2007

Las Ramblas is a true find. It's tiny and crowded, but only like a good friends apartment during a fantastic party. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. And the food is AMAZING. Everything is divine. I particularly enjoyed the spanish pepper stuffed with rice and cheese. Las Ramblas is unpretentious and amazing. I will definitely return! more

Outstanding Tapas! 1/14/2007

I was just there this past Friday and what an amazing time I had. It is a great place for a date as it is pretty small, seats about 30-35. I felt like I was in a small village in Spain visiting someone's house, that's how welcomed they made me feel. The tapas were absolutely delicious, the service impecable. You must try the red pear sangria, totally yummy! Pros: Service, Ambiance. Cons: Not for large group, it is very small. more

Simply addicted to this place 12/29/2006

Las Ramblas is such an amazing spot. Not only is the food out of this world, but the service is amazing, wine list inspired, and ambience super cozy. Yes, it's tiny, but they have truly made the most of the tight quarters. Admittedly, it?s not great for large groups unless you?re prepared to wait, but it is very romantic and warm. Instead of bringing the entire high school reunion, make this a regular date spot. :) I've been back countless times (almost embarrassing how often I'm there), and I've never been disappointed. Anyone who doubts the authenticity of the cuisine has clearly only visited the tourist traps while abroad. The fried smelts are the best I've had anywhere, the tortilla is also better than most places in Madrid, and I simply can?t leave without having the Patatas Bravas. Not to say that the other menu items play second fiddle to these; everything is equally delicious! The specials are amazing; the chef colors outside the lines a bit with creative ingredients (like a whole baby pumpkin filled with perfectly prepared shrimp in a lemon cream sauce? too good for words), but he always seems to incorporate the authentic Spanish flavors we?re all seeking. The wine list is as impressive as it is reasonable and despite that fact that I can only seem to find a handful of Cavas in wine shops around the city, Las Ramblas has a selection of three which I?ve not seen anywhere else. Ok, so clearly I can go on and on, but bottom line, I love this place! Pros: Food, wine list, service, ambience Cons: small, but can also be a pro more

A great idea for a date you wish to get to know better. 12/27/2006

Wonderful place for a date. We found that if you go early, you can miss the crowds that roll in around 8:00pm. Food is very good (and filling) and they have a good wine list and tap beer selection. We never felt rushed, even when the place was filling up. Staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and anticipates needs very quickly. I felt they were a little too attentive as they were always lingering around waiting to do something, probably due to the very small space. The seating is so-so, the best seats are in front of the windows, comfortably on pillows, otherwise be prepared to sit on high barstools at small, circular tables. Definitely not a place for groups over 4 (and 4 is pushing it). The proprietress is very sweet, charming and unassuming. Prices are fair, considering the neighborhood. Will definitely be around when all the other ""hot"" places burn out. If they could only have a little more room!! Pros: Staff, Decor, Food, Wine & Beer list Cons: Size, Hovering Service, Seating more

Amazing flavors, lots to offer! 12/3/2006

This tiny restaurant is located on a street full of fun bars and shops. Although it's small in size, the offerings and flavors that this restaurant provides is anything but small. A very good wine list with a great range of price, regions and grapes. The tapas were delicious. My boyfriend and I shared 4 tapas and a bottle of wine and were pleasantly full but not overly stuffed. We had a stuffed artichoke special, stuffed pepper, albondigas and chicken empanadas. Each dish was extremely flavorful and the portions were perfect. My only complaint is the tight quarters... it's bareable though. Pros: Awesome service, tons of flavor, fun location Cons: Tight quarters more

Good wine list, okay food 11/28/2006

Nice wine list. Txokoli was very refreshing and fun to pour. Food was just average, nothing really stood out. Nice ambiance and service was sweet. more

Authentic, Spicy Tapas 10/11/2006

The tapas were great. Nothing too outlandish or 'gourmet', just really authentic, home-style Spanish food. Shrimp with garlic, scallops, meatballs..were all very flavorfull and done just right. The potatoes were good but didn't stand out. Loved the tiny, almost cramped but still comfortable, space. The only problem I had with Las Ramblas was the Sangria..it tasted like Fruit Juice and after 2 pitchers were only barely tipsy (which again proved that it was mostly Fruit Juice). Pros: Food, Ambience, Wine List Cons: Sangria more

Great tapas in a great little place 9/11/2006

I had a lovely time at Las Ramblas last night. Despite what others have said, we were seated right away and a had a great table near the open front window. Our server was so nice and courteous, and the food was delicious and not too heavy. The strawberry sangria was great too, although I agree that it could be stronger! LR deserves its high ratings, especially in the romance department. Go with a small group or just two and you'll have a fabulous time! Pros: Great food, good prices, cozy atmosphere Cons: Could get crowded and cramped more

Great overall experience 8/6/2006

I went here on a Saturday night at 9pm and had a great time. Each of the three staff members I interacted with was extemely friendly and helpful. As other users have noted, the restaurant is very small, so expect to wait to get a table, and I wouldn't advise showing up with more than 4 people. I had read the reviews and was expecting to wait, so I was not put off at all by the 25 minutes it took us to get a table. We drank at the bar and they carried over our tab to the table without hesitation, which I thought was nice. There is a pretty eclectic offering with seafood, meats and vegetables all available. We ordered 6 tapas plates and all of them were very good. The seafood dishes in particular were all excellent. One thing to note, the sangria was very tasty, but did not seem to have much alcohol in it. Pros: good food, good atmosphere Cons: tiny, could seem cramped if you're not prepared more

Most authentic tapas experience in NYC...friendly and attentive service too. 7/21/2006

I decided to try Las Ramblas after reading their review in the 'Under $25' dining section of The NY Times. I must say, my visit exceeded my great expectations. With a wide array of food and wine, cozy atmosphere and warm, friendly customer service, Las Ramblas is on the fast track to becoming the hottest tapas bar in NYC. more
