I suppose this food passes for real tapas for most American customers but any self-respecting Spaniard would certainly turn their noses up at this mess. The potatoes and omelette...

Great Tapas Spot! 10/1/2009

Rarely my boyfriend get time to go out as we both work such crazy schedules. This place was amazing and made our 'date night' that much more enjoyable. The food was excellent, the wine list - amazing and I can't say enough about the service. Our waiter was extremely attentive and considerate. We will definitely be back! Thanks Las Ramblas! Pros: Good atmosphere, friendly service, good food more

Can't Get Enough!!!! 9/17/2009

If your traveling to NYC, or live there and are looking a new place to eat.....Las Ramblas should NOT be missed. From their friendly/proffesional service to their AMAZING tappas you would be hard pressed not to enjoy yourselves......Out Door tables are a must if you enjoy people watching (best in the city)....If your their with friends try a Porron (Spanish drinking device, very fun) and if your not that great with wine, they have that covered too....with an in-house expert.....I give this place 5 stars easy....the food is always consistantly awesome, and the atmosphere is cozy and cool....perfect for a date or family and friends Geoff R. more

Tiny place! Tiny portions. 8/16/2009

Can't say it was bad overall, but the space is so tiny, it was hard to enjoy it. I am a small person, but was afraid to move my elbow so that I don't move my neighbor's plate. Sangria felt like it had no alcohol, but it was tasty (strawberry one) Service was very pleasant. Pros: Food taste, sangria, service, location Cons: tiny space, tiny portions, more

Love this place 7/10/2009

I have been here many times and always take out of towners. The management /waitstaff is wonderful; the food is delicious and great portions for tapas; the sangria is yummy and I always leave with a nice buzz. I went last night with2 girlfriends and it was $30pp and we had 2 pitchers of sangria and 4 tapas; which I think is just fine because the whole experience is great. I hate to sound so corny but I think it's very New York. Pros: everything more

Yummy Tapas!!! 5/21/2009

Surprisingly good tapas!!! Pricey but not as pricey as other tapas bar. Really really good!! The sangria is ok but the food makes up for that.... Pros: tapas Cons: pricey more

GREAT FOOD AND EXPERIENCE 4/12/2009

I went to eat here last night on a first date. The staff here was incredible. There was a 40 minute wait so they gave us beeper type contraption and we headed down the block to have a drink. The wait was'nt 40 minutes and when we sat down the wait staff made us feel like regulars that dine there 4 times a week. They suggested an unbelievable white wine. The ham croquettes i highly suggest. I was shocked when i got the bill. I would have had no problem paying 5 times what we did because the food , atmosphere and, the staff were incredible. I am definitely going back to this place as soon as i get the chance. Pros: Wait staff more

This restaurant is always consistent. They never seem to miss. Tapas are delicious, waitstaff are always polite, atmosphere is not pretentious. Try the ham croquettes, , Tuna al Mojama and Chanquetes Fritos. Oh, wow, and don't forget to have a pitcher of their sangria! more

Fun Tapas Bar! 11/17/2008

I had a great time at Las Ramblas. I went there with two friends on a Friday night and we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. The servers were very attentive, answered all our questions, and made good recommendations. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and well-portioned. Other reviewers have said that the portions are stingy, but I strongly disagree--either they forgot they were ordering small plates or they are linebackers. The only complaint I have is that the place is very tiny and cramped, but that really didn't bother me until an obnoxious NYU kid sat right behind us and starting arguing with his girlfriend very loudly. I left with a full stomach, a good buzz, and a high opinion. Definitely check this place out, maybe on a weeknight when it's not so crowded. Pros: Great service, great food Cons: Tiny--not a lot of wiggle room more

Excellent Dining Experience 11/2/2008

We had a great time at Las Ramblas. The food was great. We had the roasted pumpkin with shrimp in a cream sauce and the chicken empanadas. To drink, we had the cava, a spanish form of champagne. The food was well prepared and very well balanced between texture and spice. The barkeep is a certified sommollier and very well positioned to introduce and recommend their spanish collection. He peaked our interest when he told us that they change the wine list every 2 months. This is a well-run establishment with a good sense of customer service. Definitely a keeper. more

Great Tapas and Cozy Atmosphere 10/16/2008

The staff at Las Ramblas is great and this truly is one of the best tapas and sangria places in the city. On a great night when the windows are open and the restaurant is exposed to the street you truly feel like you're in Barcelona. The venue is small and they don't take reservations so if you're a large group I would plan on arriving early. A group of two could easily enjoy a great meal at the bar more

Nice Tapas 10/13/2008

Terrific atmosphere, nice staff, and really good tapas. A fun place to be--just don't take yourself or other patrons too seriously and you'll have a good time. Pros: tapas Cons: small, crowded more

This may be our new favorite tapas place 9/4/2008

We did a girlie dinner here. We walked in on a Tuesday night a little before 8, and were immediately sat. We ordered pom sangria (a little fruit-punchy), mushrooms, patatas bravas, mussels, octopus and meatballs. We also got a special artichoke salad. Everything was good, with the meatballs and potatoes just being average. The mussel sauce was great and the vinegary salad dressing contrasted nicely with the rest of the richer food. The service was attentive, our water glasses were always full. It seemed a good value, we were full for $12/pp. Our only complaint was that we asked for the food to come out staggared, but everthing came out in pretty quick succession. We will definitely go back, as there is so much more to try, including what look like some decent values on the wine list. Pros: food, service, value Cons: not good for large groups more

Amazing Tapas and Service!!! 8/25/2008

We went here this past weekend to kick off our friend's Bachelorette party. Upon arriving, we were seated in the front on comfy benches near the open windows, which allowed us to enjoy the late afternoon breeze. Our servers were knowledgable, friendly, and our cups always full. We ordered almost one of everything on the menu, and it was all delicious. There were seven of us with very different tastes, so tapas was the perfect way to try a bit of everything. I highly recommend their signature shrimp tapa, so delicious and we couldn't stop dipping their fresh bread, which we never ran low on, in the amazing broth (garlicky, peppery, yummy!). Their sangria was just as delicious as the tapas, and at the end they brought us a ""porro"" which is a communal wine decanter that you pass around and was the perfect and entertaining cap to a wonderful meal. I think we all though that dinner would just be the beginning of an evening to send our friend off to the married life in style, but it wound up being the highlight of the night and we were all still talking about it the next day. Delicous food, a WONDERFUL wait staff, and great friends made for the perfect start to our night. Thank you so much to the entire staff of Las Ramblas for a great night! Pros: Great selection, excellent service Cons: Small, get there early for the best seats! more

Best Tapas in the City! 6/25/2008

I am a fan of Spanish tapas, and I must say that after tasting just about everywhere else, Las Ramblas has the best tapas I've found in NYC. Everyone working there was so nice and helpful. I loved it and want to come back to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. And do ask about the all Spanish wines as they seem to really know what they're talking about. Great stuff! Pros: Great food, excellent wines, awesome service. Cons: They don't deliver to the Upper East Side...lol. more
