Friendly and delicious 5/14/2009

They have an awesome lunch special for $7.99 includes soup or salad, pad thai and white rice or fried rice with entree, over 30 entree options with the lunch special. The staff is always kind and food comes out quickly. They also have a bar area for mixed drinks and boba selections. My favorites are the Chicken Sa-tay, Volcano Chicken, Pineapple fried rice and the Thai Wings. Pros: very friendly staff, great food more

Not authentic, weird atmosphere 2/5/2008

The food was not authentic and the place was weird. They didn't even serve pork, which is a staple in the Thai diet. Whether or not you like pork, this should tell you how un-authentic this place is. more

Diverse menu options (fish or scallops!) 12/12/2007

What I love about this place is that - unlike most Thai places - you can get fish, shrimp or scallops with any dish. I don't eat red meat, and am tired of chicken, so this is perfect for me! Also, this place has my favorite lemongrass soup in town (try it with fillet of sole instead of chicken). The ""gah-tong"" appetizer is another favorite.. Pros: Fish, scallop or shrimp option..best lemongrass soup ever! Cons: My husband isn't too crazy about the curry here.. more

Best Thai in Sherman Oaks 4/10/2007

I've been to this restaurant twice and both times was impressed with the yummy food. It's definitely the best place for Thai food in Sherman Oaks, maybe even the entire Valley. Plus, the portions were plentiful. When I got with my boyfriend, we generally just split an entree and maybe each order our own soups. We've never had to wait for a table, and once ordered, the food arrives quickly. Try to Taro Smoothie drink--I'd never heard of ""taro"" before but that staff convinced me to try it and I'm glad I did. It was delicious. Oh yeah, and I LIKE the pond. It's a nice touch. Thai-sty! 8/27/2006

My boyfriend took me here claiming it to be his favorite thai restaurant. I have my own favorite (the Original Thai BBQ) and am pretty partial to it, but I decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. The food was really good and flavorful, we ordered pad see ew with some seafood stew thing which was delicious. The thai iced coffee comes with whipped cream on top and I ended up leaving satiated and impressed. This will be my thai restaurant substitute when I'm in the valley. Oh, and I love the pond! It's a random but unique touch. Pros: Tasty thai, good prices Cons: Only in the valley more

Hidden Treasure!! Best thai food at a low price 8/27/2006

Lannathai serves the best thai food in Los Angeles at a great value!! This is especially comforting considering the service is friendly and you never have to wait for a table. While some of the more pretencious types might consider the ambience a little tacky, it is quite unique and quickly grows on you. (where else do you find a fish pond in the middle of a restaurant). So while you may not want to risk a first date at lannathai it's definitely a keeper. Pros: Great food that won't break the bank Cons: Ambience is not for everyone more

I have gotten take out from this place twice. The lunch specials are a great value. The spicy eggplant is really tasty, while the pad thai is only so-so. I received quick service. I love the fact that it has a full bar, and contrary to other reviewers, I like the pond. It's nice. more

this is a decent place to go for their lunch menu (since it's pretty cheap), but the variety and quality of the dishes in general are really just average. the boba is nice, if you're into that. the giant fountain in the middle of the restaurant is completely useless, unless it's to hide the fact that the place is never fully packed anyways. the service is REALLY slow, so be prepared to wait for EVERYTHING. Pros: cheap lunch menu Cons: loud fountain, slow service, mediocre food more

it IS authentic 6/30/2004

my boyfriend is Thai and he claims it is authentic (he talks to the waiters in Thai) although choices are Americanized. The food is average, but very plentiful and the set dinners they offer is way more than enough food. We took enough food home to last for days. Take advantage of the plethora of boba drinks they offer. Yes, the atmosphere is a bit cheesy with the pond, but those kinds of things are frequently in many Thai restaurants and if you're just looking for some good Pad Thai and Pad See Ew, then this isn't a bad choice. If you want the real stuff, and are more adventurous, try Sanamluang Cafe, but I doubt many non-Thai people would feel comfortable there. Pros: a lotta food, boba drinks, reasonable prices more

This restaurant is good, not great. For this side of the Valley, its probably the best Thai restaurant around and its a good value. Its very clean and its in a nice location. Its good for take out too. Pros: affordable, reliable, tasty Cons: not authentic more

This is a retaurant which could use some improvements in the decor and the food. The food was just barely Ok. It wasn't all that fresh. It is a big and flexible space with a pond in the middle, but it lacks atmosphere and it gets noisy at times. The decoration is gaudy and bleak at the same time.
