Awesome Doctors & Staff 2/20/2013

I started with this office 9 years ago now with Dr. Nikki Lang and then when she retired on to Dr. Amy Orloff. I have quite a few complicated ailments that mean I need to see Amy at least once per month. My roommates also see Amy based on my recommendation and are very happy with the service as well. The office staff has always been very polite and accommodating and have always had no problem going that extra mile for me when needed. And there are never long wait times in the office. Amy is one of the best doctors that I have ever seen. Her "hunches" are always spot-on, she always takes time needed with her patients, makes sure you understand everything, is always very positive, remembers who you are, does a lot of research and not afraid to send you to a specialist if you need one or to consult another docter if something has her stumped. My only reason for changing doctors is that my insurance is forcing me to and I am not happy about it. more

Good Riddance to the front office staff 8/22/2010

We finally had enough of the front office staff and left for another Doctor. My wife and I went to Dr. Lang and then Dr. Kurzrok for many years. Luckily we were in good health and only had to visit periodically. Both Dr. Lang and Dr. Kurzrok were/are top notch care givers, always pleasant and knowledgeable. But we cringed each and every time we had to deal with their front office staff. Very often they didn’t answer our phone calls and we went to a recording instructing us to call back at another time. And of course the switchboard was closed for an hour each and every day so the staff can take a combined lunch hour, just when it was most convenient for patients to call. Some days the office was closed entirely or had odd hours. The front staff ran that office, and did a horrible job. They were rude, indifferent, cold, or only concerned about insurance issues and how we were going to pay. Each and every time we called, they made it seem we were annoying them. Each and every time! So we finally both left a week ago, and the only time they ever called us was to tell us that we had to pay them $25 each to get our records copied to transfer to the other doctor. So $50 to get our records, and GOOD RIDDANCE to the poorest and most miserable service in all of Philadelphia. more

So it's not just me 9/16/2009

I too like Kurzrok as a doctor, but the office staff drove me off. My OB/GYN asked for a test result to be faxed directly to them because of a potentially serious problem... Luckily everything was okay. But 3 months later I get a phone call from Kurzrok's office saying if I want the result faxed to call back and it will cost me $35. For a 1-page fax. Three months too late. Plus 3-4 times called for refills and they didn't materialize when promised; was told that I hadn't called them in. Just too much trouble. more

I'm leaving 2/9/2009

The office staff has forced me to take my patient care somewhere else. They are the first step in patient care and they have turned me off to the point where I refuse to deal with them in order to see the doctor. I will go elsewhere where the office staff has enough sense to treat their patients with respect and gratitude, not as if they are doing me a favor. more

Lang was great, Kurzrok is okay, but the staff is uncaring! 11/24/2008

Too bad Dr. Lang had to retire. I was with her for 20 years and found her to be the best. Her staff wasn't the warmest but they were efficient. However, the staff now is rude and very uncaring. Although two of the main people are from Dr. Lang's staff, they are all acting badly. I guess they are just showing their true colors. more

Dr. Amy's okay but... 9/24/2008

I was a patient of Dr. Lang. At the beginning, she was great. A few years later, it seemed like she got prescription-happy. Dr. Amy is great but I'm finally fed up with the support(?) staff - the nastiest bunch of arrogant illiterates I've ever encountered. It's unfortunate that the vulnerable position you're in when you enter their office is compounded by a creepy, self-centered, rude, bunch of bitches. Is it that hard to create a compassionate and friendly support staff? more

Chaos 7/5/2008

Since Nikki left the practice has descended into chaos. I've seen Amy Kurzrok twice so far, and I liked her and felt well cared for both times. What I don't like is the way the front desk staff is lazy, disorganized, and rude. I don't even expect to be treated nicely, but the women who work in that office just treat the patients with contempt. I've also had problems getting medications refilled ever since Nikki left. Amy seems like a really nice person. I just hope she's not so nice that she can't run an effective practice. more

Lang retires. Dr. Kurzrok takes over, support staff becomes major barrier to patient care. 6/26/2008

Dr. Lang, who built this practice over the course of two decades, retired late in 2007, and her part-time associate of five years, Dr. Amy Kurzrok, has taken over the practice on a full time basis. Dr. Lang's patients had only the highest things to say about her, and patients seem to think just as highly of Dr. Kurzrok. Dr. Kurzrok has a personality perfectly suited to being a doctor. She's personable, genuine, and cares deeply for her patients. She'll go out of her way for any of her patients. While Dr. Lang could not have found a better physician to replace her, a number of problems have plagued the practice since her departure. Dr. Kurzrok retained the entire support staff that had been with Dr. Lang for years. However since Dr. Lang's departure, the support staff has come to routinely neglect the daily business of running a doctor's office. Phones go unanswered. Routine requests for prescription refills take up to a week to be called in, if they ever get called in at all. Messages left for referrals and test results go unanswered. Calling to ask about a message that went unanswered is treated as an imposition on the office staff. While under Dr. Lang the staff was never pleasant, they did get their jobs done. Dr. Lang's tough personality was enough to keep the staff's behavior within normal limits, but since Dr. Lang's departure, it's as if the staff thinks why bother working if we don't have to. As much as I love Dr. Kurzrok, I just can't stay at a practice where I can't get prescription refills, test results, or even make appointments in a timely manner. I'm going to try to stick it out a few more months, but if the quality of service doesn't improve, I'm going to have to look elsewhere for a new primary care doctor. more

Dr. Amy Kurzrok 3/12/2008

has taken over the office of Nikki Lang and the staff there is now just out of control. A more perfect casting for uncaring bureaucrats you will never meet. They were never the best bunch, but Nikki Lang kept them from going too far. Under Kurzrok it's been down hill. Hopefully she can bring them in line before they turn-off too many patients. more

what will i do 2/28/2008

i will be short simply because typing isn't my thing. however; in being brief i will only say this- what will i do? in the event that dr. lang retires, actually what will we who have had the true luxury of dr. lang's services do? i enjoy luxury goods and i can truly say that she(dr. lang) isn't just a dr. , she is an individuals luxury. everyone should be so lucky. i will also add this, i've read certain persons negative reviews typed about the great dr. nikki lang; only one thing to say those... IT'S NOT HER, IT'S THEM! that being said- LUXURY goods are not for everyone. simply because not everyone understands them. more

A most Reliable Doctor 12/27/2007

I feel that had I met Dr. Nikki Lang several years earlier, I could have avoided a lot of the unnecessary sufferings I had gone through with other general doctors I had before I met her. It truly made a big difference for my health problems. What was most helpful to me was that she always took time to explain about my problem as well as solutions. I was always confused whether I was having allergy problem or cold virus. She would always make sure that I would get the thorough examinations from other specialists. She was particularly good with follow ups making sure that I am well taken care of . It was especially wonderful that she could a took care of the gynecology issues as well. She is well rounded and very knowledgeable in all aspect where I needed help. I found her a most reliable doctor I ever had. more

My Doctor - (5 Star Doctor) 11/27/2007

I am adding my other star, in my haste I saw the word great and clicked! However, after reviewing my comments I realized there was another star for PERFECT! As I said before, there is only one Doctor Nikki! more

My Doctor! 11/27/2007

Approximately 20 years ago I chose Dr. Nikki Lang as my primary physician. She not only became my primary physician but the monitor for my well-being. Why? Because she cares! She takes the lead (and knows how) to ensure that your health is good and pushes you to make good decisions regarding your health as well. She listens to your health concerns/complaints and follow -up with you to ensure that they are taken care of. She is the best doctor I have ever had. She's a doctor of body, mind and spirit. Remember there is only one Doctor Nikki! more

Best Doctor I ever had 11/21/2007

The title says it all. I have been with Dr. Lang for almost 4 years now and in a life where I have had to visit many many doctors she is the best one I have ever had. She is very knowledgeable and right on the money. She takes time with her patients and makes sure you understand what is going on. I never feel rushed or pushed out the door. I have never felt like I am just another number in her office. I can't say enough about how good Dr. Lang is! I believe she saved my life last year finding a cyst that definitely had the potential to be life threatening if left alone any longer. She made sure I had a great surgeon and made I was ok after surgery. Like I said the best doctor I have ever had! more

Best of Philly 10/19/2007

Dr. Lang is an outstanding physician who truly cares about her patients. Dr. Lang has not only helped me lose weight but keep it off as well. She took the time to help me break bad eating habits and introduced me to new foods I never thought I would enjoy. Overall I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Lang and would highly recommend her. more

A terrific doctor 9/27/2007

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Dr. Lang for all the years of right-on-the-money medical care and advice I've received from her. She's amazingly knowledgable and has always been persistent in tracking the root cause of my medical complaints until they were resolved to our mutual satisfaction. Her staff has been more than helpful, and once, when I had a last-minute referral problem, her assistant Darlene was specially kind and understanding in fixing it. When, back in 2003, I came to Dr. Lang with a mysterious and long-standing stomach problem which was causing me to lose an alarming amount a weight, she was wonderfully reassuring, and by the end of the visit had made me feel that a solution could be found. After many tests and specialist visits without a soution, i returned in despair to Dr. lang and she was the one who devised an alternate treatment that finally gave me some relief. I travel over an hour from central New Jersey through that horrible Philadelphia traffic to see Dr. Lang and the results make it well worth while more

I trust her judgment 9/17/2007

I haven't known Dr. Lang for very long and 5 minutes into my first visit with her I was sure it was going to be a very short association. I suffered from chronic sinus infections for many years. My previous physician always gave me antibiotics. When I went to Dr. Lang 2 days into my illness she told me it a a virus and she wasn't going to give me an antibiotic. She could see how upset I was--actually angry because I knew my own body! She said "Look, it would take me 20 seconds to write you a prescription, yet I'm taking the extra 20 minutes to explain the difference between a cold, allergies, and a bacterial infection. I don't want you to overuse antibiotics in the future and if you treat your allerghies more aggressively, it'll help prevent future sinus infections. Needless to say in spite of my initial misgivings, I have come to trust her clinical judgment, and the good news is less sinus infections! more

NO OTHER DOCTOR FOR ME 9/16/2007

I started seeing Dr. Lang when she was still in medical school! She was my neighbor while I was pregnant with my first child. I was nervous about the health of my fetus as I had smoked for years and eaten a lot of junk food. My husband lost his job when I was three months pregnant. I was sure the stress would effect my developing baby. Almost once a week, after spending all night in an emergency room, Nikki Lang would check in on me before she conked out-free of charge! She was always very patient with me. I would never see any other GP. My two sons feel the same way. If she still handled pediatrics, my grand-children would be loyal patients. more
