rude and patronizing 7/21/2009

First he was speaking to me as to a child - I can live with that. He 'rewarded' me with a Velscope mouth cancer screening since I wasn't a smoker. Then I wanted to ask a simple question if another treatment was necessary and he got upset and started repeating "it doesn't cost anything!" ...which didn't answer my question and I felt quite intimidated down in the chair when he added that I could also feel free to leave. After sitting a while alone in the room a nice dental hygienist finished the job. I left and paid extra for the Velscope I didn't ask for. When wondering why I wasn't informed about the extra cost the uninterested receptionist stated I should have asked Dr. Harris if it was chargeable. Unfair, in my opinion. Oh why does it always have to do with money!! I'm glad I lost only a couple of bucks and hours. Not going back nor recommending anyone. more

STAY AWAY 11/19/2008

I wish zero stars was an option because that's how strongly I feel about the terrible care I recieved from Dr. Harris. The other review "Dental Distaster" perfectly describes Dr. Harris and his staff. I should have bolted when he read my x-rays upside down or when he told me he doesn't floss, or when he yanked my crown out so hard it flew across the room and he had to crawl around on the floor for it. His staff is equally as incompetent, and they have caused me a lot of pain and money. Stay away. more

STAY AWAY 11/19/2008

The other post "Dental Disaster" is perfect. Stay away, Dr. Harris does not know what he is doing and caused me a great deal of pain. His office assistants are not competent. I have never written an online review of anything in my life - this is how dissapointed and disturbed about the care I recieved and how strongly I want to put out the word to warn others. more

Ouch! 10/22/2008

Good: He seems like a nice guy - he has a good sense of humor.. Bad: He caused me a great deal of unnecessary pain for work I didn't need, on teeth two other dentists immediately said were unsalvageable. In my oppinon, he shouldn't be practicing dentistry, at all.. Improvements: He should probably pick another trade. Roofing, contracting, something where the drilling and scraping doesn't cause a person a lot of pain.. more

Good Dentist 2/28/2008

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Harris. Dr. Harris, was very nice and respectful. Importantly, he seemed honest and genuinely concerned for his patients' well being. Additionally, he was quick and to the point during the exam. It was also great that he did not try to push me for any unwanted dental work. more

Dental Disaster 2/23/2008

Dr. Harris is amiable, animated, and very costly in the long run. After being a patient of his for several years, I sought a second opinion -- after being blown off by him about recurring, serious problems. As it stands now, it will cost me at least $60,000 and two to three years of work by four dental specialties to treat diseased teeth, gum disease and loss of bone in my jaw. Endosseus implants are my only option -- other than having my teeth pulled and wearing dentures for the rest of my life. Being a nice guy should not be confused with being a good dentist. more

Stay Far, Far Away from this Dentist 8/22/2006

First up -- I brush with an electric toothbrush, floss, use mouthwash, get my teeth cleaned every 6 months, etc, etc. Dr. Harris may have a pleasant demeanor at first, but his level of care is poor - at best. Six months ago I told him I had sensitivity to cold on my back tooth. He said it was probably a cold (that my sinuses were pushing on the nerve), but never took x-rays. During my last appointment this week, I said I couldn't even remember the last time we took x-rays and mentioned the sensitivity remained. Well - it seems I couldn't remember the last time because it was three years ago. Now I'll likely need a root canal and crown. When I questioned him about the length of time between x-rays, he became very irritated and tried to blame me saying I probably refused them (no chance of that, but if it were, don't you think that would be noted in my chart? It's not). He went on to say it was because of my poor oral hygiene. This is the same dentist who puts gold star stickers in my chart to highlight my GOOD oral hygiene. His behavior was over-the-top and frankly, rude. He later called it a matter of pride and asked if we could put this all behind us. He asked me to go to his endodontist for an evaluation even though the endodontist isn't in my insurance plan. Maybe money grows on trees in his world, but... Not in my world. This is the last time I will be dealing with Dr. Harris. On top of this, I have always had to wait at least 30 minutes (as long as 50 minutes) after my appointment time to get into a chair, and then usually waited after that point. He even admits that once he falls behind, he can’t catch up. Maybe they should lighten his schedule a bit. My time is valuable as well. My experience may not be the same as everyone else, but my advice would be to look elsewhere for a dentist. The experience made me feel like I was dealing with a bad car mechanic - except the pain isn't only in my wallet. more

Friendly, Gentle Dentist 1/13/2006

For somebody who hates going to the dentist, Paul Harris really put me at ease with my visit. He explained everything that he was doing as he went along, and I did not feel much at all. I did not even have to wait long, which is a plus, and the location was very easily accessible. more

Great Dentist 8/15/2005

Visiting an incompetant dentist can cause serious risks to your health so it's very important to see a professional who knows what he's doing. Dr. Harris is very skilled at taking care of teeth. He is friendly and reassuring (he showed me pics of his puppy dog last time I was there) and he has a "no pain" policy which is great to hear! Of course there's no such thing as entirely no pain, but he is very gentle when working with teeth and gums. more
