Great 4 Groups, Large Portions 2/19/2008

La Famiglia's has been great with our group of 8th graders for over ten years now. They provide large family style dinners at a reasonable price. The kids love the food and can't get enough of it. It is the perfect place for a large group who wants a yummy meal with great servers and friendly owners. Our group is usually between 30 and 40 people and they accomodate us perfectly upstairs. We call ahead of time and set up our menu and date/time and we are good to go. They remember us coming back every year as well so the menu is all ready for me unless I want to change something. Their meatballs are to die for!!!! Pros: Great 4 groups, large portions! more

Day 2 and I am still eating! 5/20/2007

My fiance and I ate here yesterday afternoon and the portions were huge.\r \r We got the stuffed mushrooms as appetizers and they were very delicious.\r \r I got the vegetarian with ziti and he got the chicken/brocolli with ziti and the servings were HUGE that we ate 1/4 of it and took the rest home. Had some for dinner yesterday night, and some for breakfast this morning and still have leftovers to last me till tomorrow!\r \r the service was great, love the native boston-italian lady who was our waitress. just made everything more authentic Pros: large portions Cons: decor more

No Sharing Allowed 4/12/2007

We went to La Famiglia Georgio's on the recomendation of a friend. I won't go back.\r The service was pretty poor. The portions are really big, but there is NO SHARING ALLOWED. We are staying in a hotel here while we visit and so we ended up having to throw away half of our meals. I was really disapointed. \r The food was OK, but there are alot of fantastic places in Boston, maybe some that would let you share a meal that you paid for. Pros: quantity Cons: quality more

Great Lunch Spot 3/20/2007

I've been here a few times during the week for lunch and loved it. They have a sampler dish on weekdays where you can try a number of items for a very low price. The food is some of the best Italian I've tasted, particularly the lasagna. Portions are huge. The place is small but since I've only gone for lunch there has never been a wait. Pros: Great food, large portions more

Very solid food at a great value for the North End (or anywhere) 2/14/2007

Ridiculously large portions, friendly service and good sauces make this one a winner. \r \r We ordered an antipasto and we were pretty much full after that. I had also ordered an $11 pizza and my date the Chicken Sorrento. We ate the rest for lunch and dinner and it was still good. Highly recommend anything Sorrento. Just a very nice sauce. Thought the pizza tasted better the next day just because it was a little crisper and everything a little more well done (even though I had asked for it well done). Probably not your thing if you are a thin crust lover.\r \r Great place to take a family. Pros: Portion size, not super busy, casual feel Cons: Not romantic if that's what you're looking for more

Some of the best italian food every tasted! 6/10/2006

My wife and I found this spot while walking thru the North End. It has a very unassuming and noisy atmosphere, but some of the best Italian food we have ever had. The quality of the dishes, the freshness of the ingredients, and the flavors are wonderful. The sauce that was served with the lasagna was outstanding. The pasta and sauce in the La Famliglia special were unequaled. We would highly recommend this restaurant. \r Others have compared it to a trip to Grandmas and we would agree.\r Pros: Food taste, value, and serving sizes Cons: Noisy, small more

A Family Style Dinner that Cannot Share 9/5/2005

I was very disappointed with the service and value. We has a reservation for 7 people (I was surprised that I can make reservation). We arrived a little early and saw the table was ready for us but the waitress made us wait outside until our reserved time. I picked this place because it is family-style dinner (as indicated on the sign outside) but we found out later everyone has to order a dish (no sharing!!!). Our waitress was rude and not happy to bring us extra plates for us to share. We have tons of food left. This is definitely not a place to go if you cannot eat 5 pounds of food in one seating. NOT RECOMMENDED!! Cons: Service, Value more

Go for the food not for the experience 5/27/2005

If you're a tourist and you're going to Boston's North End for the first time I wouldn't go here. Although the food at La Famiglia Georgio's may be a bit better, and more appropriately priced than the restaurants on touristy Hanover street, you miss out in the ambience and people watching. La Famiglia's is a great middle-of-the-week restaurant for locals. The food is great, but the ambience and the service are no where to be found. The dining room has bad acoustics and can get very loud and the servers could care less if you'd like more bread or need a new fork. I had the linguni with the Fra Diavolo sauce. It was wonderful. The pasta tastes homemade. The portions are enormous. The meatballs are like your Mom's. The food makes up for where this restaurant lacks in other areas. more

One of the best 6/10/2004

This is the only place I eat in the North End. It is like sitting in your grandmothers house. Simple tables and service, wine served in juice glasses. The portions are huge and the prices are cheap. The food is great. A very nice place to bring the whole fam. DON""T BE FOOLED BY THE SIMPLE APEARENCE Pros: Portions, Down Home more

tremendous 12/21/2003

great original italian food no foo foo food great quality, great price. the food you know! lasagnas, chicken and veal dishes gnocchi, ravioli pizza prices are more in the 10-15 dollar range good service just like my grandmothers house on sunday mornings ""ask for auntie"" she'll take good care of you Pros: inexpensive, quality, noisy atmosphere Cons: not enough seats, more aunties more

Best Italian Food in Boston 9/6/2002

You'd never know from the unassuming exterior that this place has the best Italian food not only in the North End, but the whole city. Their gnocchi is especially good, as is the chicken marsala. Service can get rather slow on a busy night, but its worth the wait. more

Si! Si! 8/31/2002

Great flavor, fresh ingredients, real Italian cooking. Small family restaurant, can't get any better! Pros: better than home! Cons: small, tough parking more

The Family is Great! 8/21/2002

Best Deal In Town 7/28/2002

Our first choice when in Boston!! No trip to Boston is complete without a meal at La Famiglia's topped off by pastries from Mike's. more

Excelente' 7/26/2002

I love this place! I've been there so many times... I have a hard time trying other resturants. Not only do they have a large selection on their menue, but their prices are the best in the neighborhood! Also, the portions are great... if you like to eat ""big,"" this is the place to go! Pros: Everything!!! more

If you're hungry...... 6/20/2002

If you're hungry, go to La Famiglia! The portions are extremely generous! The menu had all my favorites and then some. I think they should stop presenting 5 green olives in the wooden salad bowl with light, tasteless oil at the beginning of the meal. My veal was cooked to perfection. The service could have been a bit more efficient as there were many tables open, but none of them cleaned off. more
