Amazing workout, great instructors. I highly recommend LA Boxing Hillsboro if you are looking for a serious, effective workout that isn't boring. more

Didn't work for me, but might for you 8/18/2011

So, I tried one of the free classes and this was my experience. I called a few days prior and they would not give me any pricing information over the phone. So, my gf and I went to our free class and got wrapped into the communial boxing stuff on our hands. (It SMELLS REALLY bad like mold or worse.. just fyi) The class 60 minute class consisted of a 30 min warm up of jogging, lunges, sidesweeps, crawling with your butt in the air, and massive amount of pushups. This was followed by 15 minutes of actual punching and kicking the bag, and the last 15 minutes was ab work. The class was great and instructor very helpful as far as showing my gf and I how to do things. We sweated like never before! more

Great Staff--Great workouts 4/3/2009

I really like it here. I joined in January. The GM is very professional and the coaches are very good. I especially like Jerold's class...One of the front desk girls was kinda weird, but they got rid of her--The workouts are incredible and the rates are pretty good. I have recomended to frieds. Pros: Staff is great. Kit, the GM is very pro, so are the coaches Cons: Wish they had more classes more

Not bad. 8/18/2008

I've tried a couple of different classes here. The instruction was decent, but the facility could use some work. A concrete floor with industrial carpet on it is not ideal for boxing, kickboxing, or other martial arts work. Really tough on the joints to run and do floorwork on concrete. I wish the facility was a bit larger. The bags are really close together and it limits your ability to move around on combinations. If the classes were full, it would be pretty tight for space in here. Both instructors I took class from provided feedback to students and corrected form. more

If only the gym was open more in the morning. 7/31/2008

I've been a member at LA Boxing for about 6 months and while I like the classes and the facility I'm only able to use the gym twice a week. When I first started they had classes every morning so I could stop and work out on my way to my job. A couple of weeks after their grand opening they cut their morning classes down from 5 to 3. A month or so later they cut the Friday class so now they only have two early morning classes a week. Not only do they not have morning classes, but on the days they don't have classes they aren't even open for open gym. You cant' even come and workout without an instructor. Imagine joining a gym that is closed Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. Especially when you signed up specifically to do morning workouts before your job. They cut their gym availability by over half but do you think they cut my monthly membership bill? Like I said, its a good gym and I enjoy the instruction when I can get it. Hopefully they will address this issue soon by either bringing back the morning classes or at the very least opening up the gym up for open gym workouts on weekday mornings. I can't help but feel a little defrauded in that I feel the gym put on a little bit of show when they first opened and once I signed the contract they gradually began scaling back classes and gym hours. Pros: gym has good equipment and great instruction Cons: gym continually reduces numbers of classes and hour of operation more

Awesome Staff and Workout 6/13/2008

I love Tyrone and the staff at the Portland LA Boxing! The work out is intense - but what do you expect you should do to burn 1000 calories in one hour? hmmm? Slow stretches like in yoga? A brisk walk perhaps? Come on! This is a spectacular workout - even if you aren't in shape yet - you just have to take it at your own pace. If you feel it would hurt you to do something - run in place or some other cardio move. None of the instructors make you feel bad if you can't do something. They help you so you CAN do it and they motivate you in a positive way. Men and women of all shapes and sizes take these classes and if you can't handle the workout, go back to yoga! The rest of us want our body shaped and ready for the summer! Pros: awesome workout. the best ever. staff is great. more

Sorry amiee21 worth the price of membership 3/18/2008

I guess amiee21 had a bad day, because first of all the intructors don't push you to do anything you don't want to. The General manager, I for got his name, tells you to take the class at your own pace. He shows you how to wrap your hands and introduces you to the instructors. You are learning how to box, and kickbox, amiee21 must have been doing her own thing and not listening to the instructors. Because you are learning and getting your cardio in at the same time. Not one time in class did I think I was going to hurt myself, or the intructors where trying to hurt me. Pros: Valued customer service Cons: small but it is worth it more

Jab, Duck, & Kick AWAY FROM HERE! 3/16/2008

First impressions: I met Tyrone Sellers & noticed right off a small facility, no mirrors & carpeted. There is a M&W restroom & 1 unisex shower. Their gloves/wraps are overpriced; go to the local sports store & buy for 1/3 the price! After taking their boxing & kickboxing classes I wouldn?t recommend membership mainly due to participant safety. I wrongly expected these classes to trump the typical 24hr. gym classes. more

The Best Workout 11/28/2007

The first time I tried LA Boxing, I took a class at there first gym in Costa Mesa. I thought I was in shape because I played professional football, but after taking the class it was great, it kicked my butt. One of the best workouts that I have ever had. I can't wait until they open the LA Boxing in Portland. Pros: great facilities more
