Had dinner at Kubo's today and WOW!! Their sushi was TO DIE FOR!!! Excellent, fresh, great atmosphere! On top of all of this they have happy hour from 4-7pm. Can't wait to go ...

Kudos to Kubos 8/6/2002

Lovely, soothing dining room with plenty of room between tables for privacy, unusual in today's restaurant scene. A wonderful varied menu as well as numerous choices for sake, beer and wine. The service was friendly albeit a bit slow (took a long time to get waited on even though we were there for a late lunch with no crowd). The sashimi was particularly fresh and satisfying. Soft shelled crab was the special for the day and although tasty, it was a bit over done and could have been a more generous serving. Overall very delicious and would definitely return. Damn good sushi 7/30/2002

Do you like Uni? Does your mouth water at the thought of Otoro? Do you start with sashimi and cold sake then move to nigiri with a saporo? Do you order everything yourself, or do you trust in the sushi chef to make whatever? Do you wait for a seat at the sushi bar? If you want Americanized sushi, this isn't the place... although you might still enjoy it. If you love traditional sushi and can enjoy the care and quality that goes into each piece... you will love Kubos. Great quick lunch bento boxes, and sumptuous leisurely dinners. Go already! Pros: quality, selection, service Cons: expensive, crowded on weekends, parking on weekends more

Go to Kubos! 7/19/2002

I really do recommend this place if you're partial to a bit of Japanese food. The location is nice, the restaurant decor is stylish but without pretention, the service is prompt and pleasant, but above all, the food is really top notch. It seems to be getting busier by the week as more people discover this place, but as long as the table arrangements remain as they are, I don't think it will ever feel crowded. I recommend this place for almost any occasion, but due to very reasonable prices, it worth visiting anytime. As for their $2 Kirin draft special... Brilliant!! Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking more

If you like Sushi and Japanese food, you must go to Kubo's. Everything from the greeting, to the service to the presentation of the food was absolutely incredible. The experience was very soothing and noteable. more

First timer with a fish 6/27/2002

I used to think that raw fish is something you use on the end of a hook to catch live fish. That is until a colleague of mine took me here and bet me to eat some raw tuna. It was the spicy tuna. It was awesome. I took the money and used it to buy another round. I enjoyed the rest of my meal as well but the tuna is what will bring me back. Best Suhi & sashimi we've had in Houston thus far. Kirin beer on tap. Excellent presentation of the Chirashi. Salad dressing is so-so (Americanized), but better than Miyako's. The waitress would dissapear for 5-8 minute intervals, so we did not order as much as we could have. Pros: good food, fair value, Kirin beer on tap Cons: slow service more
