Worst Service Ever!! Would compare the service to denny's 4/2/2012

Wrote this to the manager after a very unpleasant dining experience in March 2012 and never received a response back. I am writing in response to my families unpleasant dining experience on 3/24/12 at 7:05pm at Kravings in Tarzana. We planned a visit to Kravings to celebrate my sisters birthday and were unable to have a pleasant dining experience due to poor service from our server and manager Lousie. At 7:00pm we arrived and ordered drinks with our server. After receiving our drinks we were only approached by our servers to order additional drinks around 7:30. We requested at 7:40 to our meat servers for a certain type of meat and they replied they would right back with it. At 8:00pm we asked a second time and were told it is on it's way. At 8:10pm we requested to speak with a manger and Louise told us he would grab it right away. At 8:25 pm the meat was not brought to our table and Louise did not return to inform us that the meat was coming up. I asked to speak to the manager and louse did not apologize but asked me to call the general manager to address my problem on Monday night and provided me with your card. At that point we asked for our check and left the restaurant. When our server picked up our check she informed us that Lousie had yelled at her and blamed our service complaint on her. Our server then asked us if she did anything wrong. This was extremely awkward and unprofessional. Lousie did not apologize for the situation and asked me to address my issue with you. I find Louise's behavior extremely unprofessional and unacceptable as a restaurant manager. When we chose Kravings to celebrate by sisters birthday we expected an excellent dining experience like we have received in the past. more

Terrible food and service 2/23/2012

I have been to Kravings quite a few times, hoping it will improve. The atmosphere is great, however the service is awful. We waited forever for the food to come around...even though the place was empty. When they finally came around the meat was mostly fat. For what they charge....the service should of been a lot better, and they should not charge 10 year old children the same price as adults.....mind you by the end of the dinner we probably only ate a childs portion. more

Horrible Restaurant in all accounts. 10/22/2011

Few weeks ago my wife and I went to dinner after 2 years of anticipation since its out of our way drive. $40 per person Brazilian Steak Radico, was horrible. Restaurant was not packed but took 45 Mins., for server to appear than she informed she is not the server. After and hour we ordered a cocktail, which took another 20 mins., as we sat only behind the bar stools. Out of the 11 items only 3 were beef 1 lamb, rest were pineapple, shirmp, chicken legs and cheap Keilbasa Sausage. Salad bar was huge to fill you up, so no place left for steak unless you are doing the man vs Food show. Meats had the white thin membrane on it that makes it chewy and you need to spit out as you cannot chew and swallow the meat. Service and food were horrible, cost was overpriced. I do not recommend this place to my worst enemy. more

Horrible Service, Horrible Food, Horrible Management 6/20/2011

We came here last night for my uncle's 75th birthday. It was his choice as he liked it last year when he went. They couldn't have found another way to ruin it for him and the 14 others of us who came to celebrate it for him. The night started off ok except that the blond woman didn't know a single wine on the wine list except for BV Pinot Noir (which was her pick for us as a wine that wasn't dry - it was dry and when I found out they had Jenesse, we promptly ordered that as well). It went downhill fast. It seemed like they had an over abundance of kebob (horrible and non-edible), wasabi beef (sounds way better than it tastes), steak picana (somehow they found a way to make it flavorless), and pork ribs (which i don't eat). When we complained about the limited selection they finally brought out a rib eye steak, which was ok and leg of lamb which was over tough. Later in the night I saw them bring out beef ribs, but when I asked them to bring us beef ribs they had the audacity to claim they were out of it. Apparently the regulars get special treatment (I saw them give one of the waiters a nice hug when they came in). Follow all that up with the fact they only brought something out to our table once every half hour. So that's the food. The service managed to be even worse than the food. I already described the lack of wine knowledge, but seriously - the chef was laughing at us. The guy acted like he was an iron chef or something. His food could not possibly be bad. The guy told me I was being unprofessional when I told him how disappointed we all were. Then he started to mock me. If I were a weaker man it may have come to blows, but I cooled off. IN the end he's the unprofessional one. The manager/owner (as i was told) wasn't any better than the chef. He completely denied that anything was wrong. his whole take on the thing is that 15 people, who happened to be customers were the ones who were wrong, not him. He could care less about quality of the food, service, or whether his customers were happy. He honestly didn't even try. Even when I came to him to dispute literally 5, yes 5, wrong items on the bill, he went and had to ask everyone who worked there whether I was telling the truth. The waitstaff was no good either. The meat wasn't the only thing that was slow to come out - took 30 minutes and 3 people being bugged by us to get a water refill. We ordered coffee drinks and it took them over an hour to come out - after we had all had our cake already. We asked for the table to be wiped down after they collected our plates and before the cake came out - never happened. They brought out the cake and we had to wait 20 more minutes till someone brought us plates to eat it on. Somehow we still ate it before the coffee drinks came out. But if you ask the manager, the waiter or the chef - they were perfect and did everything wonderfully. Needless to say - no one in my family will ever go back there. There a ton of churrascarias better than this place. more

Very lousy service 9/12/2010

We went to Kravings on the Saturday night dinner for the first time, made a reservation on-line prior to that. After reading all these great reviews, our company of 4 expected good food and pleasant atmosphere. The service was really lousy. First, we had to wait for the table for 35 min, for some reason, the on-line reservation did not make any table reserved for us. Then, we waited for 1 hr to be served with an appetizer and 2 salads, waiters did not care to clean the table unless you wait until at least one will show up, call & tell them (empty water bottles, dirty dishes), nobody came to the table to ask we need anything else while we waiting for food to be served. We're greatly satisfied with the main course, our questions was if the steak are marinated for 4 weeks, it's takes that much time to cook? The lounge singer is really good, however, we'd suggest to lower the volume, it was absoluely impossible to have a conversation until the singer took a break...and it's a little annoying that our conversation during his break was interrupted by the same singer who decided to visit our table without invitation. (why??) It's our first and the last time @ this place, for over $200 dinner for 4, we expected something decent. more

This is one of my favorite restaurants and I always celebrate my birthday here. Food and service are exceptional. I love the ambiance of this place and the nightly entertainment is very good. This place is one of the few places me and my family loves to eat at. Pros: Everything Cons: Parking more

AMAZING happy hour food 3/9/2010

Kravings in Tarzana truly has the most amazing happy hour I have had. The drinks specials are decent, but the food is what will blow you away. Lobster, oysters, crab, and shrimp at great prices??? Amazing.... just amazing. My Indulgence: Chilled 1.5 lbs. Maine Lobster ($20) - It's the whole lobster conveniently butterflied in half with no icky inners leftover. It's served on ice with a selection of butter, cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon, and a tiny bottle of hot sauce. Very nice! And a pound and half at $20!?! Very very nice! Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon ($9) - This is a full entree and is wonderful!! You get three medallions of filet mignon (made to order) wrapped in bacon and served with a tasty side salad, tabouli, a thick cucumber yogurt, and pita bread. All that for only $9??? WOW. I ordered medium rare and they were cooked perfect. Blue Point Oysters ($1 each) - Served on ice with cocktail sauce, horseradish, and lemon. They weren't the best I have ever had, but I did enjoy them. Eggplant hummus with pita bread ($6) - This is amazing!!! It's a generous serving and is absolutely a MUST!!! Trust me. Chilled Jumbo Shrimp ($10) - You get five huge prawns. Caesar Salad ($7) - A large serving with good dressing and whole anchovies. I love anchovies, but if you don't... ask them not to add them. ***My next try will be the King Crab Legs (10 oz. for $15) That's a great price! They also have little combos you can get such as: *1/2 lb. peel and eat shrimp, 6 oysters, 2 tap beers ($15) *1/2 lb. peel and eat shrimp, 2 Coronas, 2 shots of Sauza Tequila ($16) *1 chilled lobster, 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp, 1 bottle of J. Roget Champagne ($33) *Assorted olive and cheese platter, 2 glasses of Pinot Noir ($18) They also have a good Happy Hour drink menu: *5 different wines offered at $6-7. I've had the Pinot Grigio and it was quite good *21oz. draft beer ($4) Either Pyramid, Samuel Adams, Heineken, or Amstel Light *Any Smirnoff drink ($5) *Vodka Martinis ($6) *Lemon Drop with Gray Goose ($6) Was definitely tasty! *Pomegranate Martini ($6) The actual bar is a decent size and has a *small* lounge area. I would say it's good for a small group of friends. If you check out their website, you can see their decor is nice and sleek. A great place for a date. Now their service is superb! Each time I've been, the waitress was friendly and attentive, and the manager on duty would check on us periodically through the night. Excellent service!! As you can see by the food, it's not your typical happy hour place where you'll get small plates for $3-4 dollars. Your tab might be a bit higher than your average happy hour experience but where else can you get this selections for such great prices? You will leave full and happy!. Tip: Don't park in the lot in front because it's one hour max. But there is a large parking structure in back and it's free. Their happy hour is 4:30 -7:00pm seven days a week and 10pm-11:30pm Wed-Sat. Pros: Great HH food more

WOULD NEVER GO BACK 8/10/2009

We invited friends for dinner at Kravings on 8/8 for their first experience with a Brazilian churrascaria. The food was good but the meats came by sooo slowly that we became full on side dishes and drinks. I commented to the waitress regarding the slow service, and a gentleman came over to inquire (I presume he was the Manager). I explained the situation to him and he proceeded very nicely to tell me that in the future, I should order a la carte and "he was sorry I wasn't happy with my choice." I informed him there wouldn't be a next time so he turned to my husband, whom he recognized from previous visits, and said he hoped MY HUSBAND would return. It was insulting, insensitive and patronizing. I will never visit again nor would I recommend it to anyone. Better spend a bit more and go to Fogo, which is FAR superior in every way, none the least of which is well-paced skewer presentation and excellent customer service. Pros: Lovely Decor, Great Ambiance Cons: Very Condescending, Rude Manager; terribly slow service more
